EXTERNAL MISSIONS
Survey Mission 4D
Location: Isla de las Munecas

Images:: x, x, x.

General debriefing: A team of dedicated individuals looking to write a magazine article about the island visited the area two weeks ago. Despite search and rescue attempts, none of them have made it back alive. They have noticed however, odd dolls shaped like the team hanging from the tree branches...
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee)

MECHANICS
* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4D. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics.
1- 20: The island is extremely foggy, the ground uneven and moist. You take a few steps in the soft soil until you hear a sudden crunch. You just stepped on the glass eye of a doll.
21 - 40: You notice that the dolls look to be in varying conditions, some with maggots curling out of them while others still look oddly new and untouched. All of the new ones are missing their eyes.
41 - 60: You notice a cabin deeper on the island. Inside is a small den, a few rooms, and a statue of a wolf head, creepily enough. The trap door in the center will not open but you can hear a music coming from underneath...
61 - 80: The wind begins to pick up, as the dolls begin to stir and move, as if with a life of their own. All seems okay until - you see a new addition to the lineup of dolls. Is that a doll of YOU? It is also missing its eyes.
81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER:
- As you continue walking down you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination?

- BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back.
* 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Rue was so happy, or at least Ofelia felt like her weapon was that much happier, and even though the mission had been sort of a surprise in how it ended (the previous one at least) she liked the progress. If all it took was this then she'd do it again, and again, and again.

So long as she didn't die, of course. Perhaps it would be in her best interest to not take two trainees along next time since well, damage was needed and even if they both were strong it wasn't the amount they needed.

If it was damage she needed though, for any mission at all, then there was a person she could call. Of course she'd need to see what other missions were out there, no point in going on the same one twice (even if results may vary depending on contents), and before she knew it she was back at the mission board and looking so overly eager.

There was one that she read over once, then twice, and when it finally clicked in her brain that it was a place she wouldn't want to go - it sounded creepy as hell - it became clear to her that it was the perfect place to go. Hunters couldn't always be kept in comfort right? She wondered if anyone else disliked these certain things the same way she did - not enough for terror but enough for an uneasy squick - and she ran down a list in her brain.

Would be uneasy. Dealt out seriously good damage.

It worked, her brain pinged off two names, and her phone was pulled out.

And so was her response, along with a picture of. . . something that would not be mentioned out loud. It would work.

Rep eyed the text from Ofie. Wow. He knew she was like, a wee bit mental all told, but on its own it was cryptic and unsettling even by the standards he'd allocated to her.

He texted back

Text to Rep external mission i mean chance to get off the island

Ofelia's general vagueness was coming back to bite her hard in the a**, sort of. She'd at least gotten responses from the two of them, neither one really in her favor, but that's sort of what she expected too. At least she could respond properly and tell them what it meant, even if Jake was going to fight her tooth and nail like the little a** he was, and so she did.

Well external mission put it more in context. Those he could do, and wasn't about to decline either.

I'll be right there.

It didn't take long to reach the lighthouse portal, equipped with the various items necessary for any mission. Ofie got a nod in greeting. "Dolls eh?"

Ofelia was at the lighthouse, waiting on Jake and Rep to show. She assumed Rep was coming, his text had said so, and she was looking over her supplies when the first of the pair approached. It was Rep (she owed herself money on a bet he wouldn't really come, even if he said yes). A grin pressed over her face as she shoved the runic bandages back into her pocket, and the runic torch bounced against her hip as she stood up from where she'd been squatting.

"Yeah, 'parently the place we're headin' is called the Island'a Dolls or sommin'. Reports have had newspaper people vanishin' an' not comin' back so it's sommin' we hunters are bein' called ta look inta." Ofelia was more than thrilled to be going, she hated dolls for the most part since they were so creepy. Islands though, mostly the location where they'd be going (it was warm - Ofelia liked warmth) had her wanting to get there quickly. "We're jus' waitin' on our third party ta show up - a new death kid named Jake. Ya ever meet 'em?"

Jake...reminded Ofelia of a much younger, more willing to listen and easily abused Rep. Perhaps that's why she was being dickish when she invited him along - why else would a girl bring two people she knew not to be very fond of her on a mission that could cost them all their lives? It must have been blunt force head trauma on a previous mission (somewhere) or it was her idea of introducing Jake to the fact that the island was full of things much, much scarier than what Halloween could produce.

Also she was a troll. Maybe.

Rep looked mildly perturbed at the idea of an island of dolls. All in all it sounded pretty gay, there weren't really two ways about it, he couldn't imagine an island full of dolls as anything else. Maybe it was where broken dolls went to die or some s**t, the thought kind of gave him the heebies.

"Shouldn't you maybe have brought like women? I figured dolls and s**t were their speciality."

Jake though, he hadn't heard much about, he wasn't familiar with all of Death's ranks, so it made sense there'd be some people he hadn't met. All he could hope was that whoever it was was more pleasant than the grand high princess or his servant Mark. He didn't have enough cash to bribe more ******** merc work. He had little patience for kids and wasn't about to start today. "Naw, I've never heard of them, they better not ******** take all day, I have better things to do with my time than wait for some ******** Death drama queen dragging their heels."

"Pffft, why'da ya think Ah invited Jake? He's 'nough queen fer both'a us ta settle, plus Ah think it'd be fun ta smash in some dolls. Never played wit' 'em as a tot, always found 'em creepy ********>" Ofelia used to use dolls for like...target practice. It was always more fun to shoot them off the wall with a slingshot, and was also good for helping with her depth perception. "Lemme send him a text, get 'em here faster."

Text to Princess hurry up kiddo youre making rep mad and thats a bad idea

She sent the message and closed her phone with a snap. "What runics ya bring along? Ah got bandages an' a torch, not sure what'd be good on this case."

Ofie's first text was received with a frown, and had been deleted promptly. He was about to snap the phone shut without bothering to respond when his phone buzzed again, and he let out a loud groan as he read over the new text.

...Who the hell was Rep?
Whatever. Wasn't his problem.
He snapped the phone shut and shoved it in his pocket.

"Why bother? I'm not going."

He opened his mouth to make a retort but then closed it.
Dammit Chester.

Jake mumbled something intelligible, but trudged off towards the life labs to grab a runic before heading to the lighthouse.
He had learned the hard way that his artifact was completely useless during their last mission, and so he needed something else to help boost his attack power.
Luckily, he didn't need to decide because the only thing he got clearance for was hand torches.

Rep looked even more thunderous at the idea that this Jake guy Ofie had invited was not only Death but some manner of nuisance. It was just his luck really. "You'd think your little friend would know better than to dawdle to missions in his division." He didn't rate their chances if they showed up late to meetings called by Caelius. "He's just lucky some of us are ******** lenient."

He fished in his pocket and waved his band-aid tin, glowing with runes. "I brought the only one that matters half the time in our line of work, and given the speedy reactions here, I'll probably need it, sissy doll island or no."

Ofelia gave a thumbs up and looked, spotting someone coming up the way. "Yup, here he comes, an' nope he's still too green ta know." She would have waved, but that was a moot point. "An' we're not friends - he hates mah guts but answers mah calls since Ah kicked his a** inta the ground durin' a spar."

Blunt and true. Ofelia turned towards the techs handling the portal, and she started telling them about the mission to come. It'd be best if Rep and Jake talked to one another, and it would give Rep even more fuel to be unhappy. If Ofelia got lucky this mission would totally be just like her previous and it'd end in the same wonderful fashion.

Torch in hand, Jake slowly made his way towards the lighthouse, and frowned as he saw a very familiar redhead.
And... one not so familiar.
Was that... who Rep was?

He vaguely remembered Ofelia talking about him a long time ago, back during their first mission. Sadly, he couldn't remember any of the facts. Not that it would of mattered anyways. It was another hunter he would have to deal with.

Catching sight of the hunter's coat, he frowned. Another sun? Great. More blockheads.
When he finally arrived, he ignored Rep and shot Ofelia a look.

"I don't see why you can't drag Blondie or some other moron on this stupid mission."
Really. He was never going to make things easy for her.

Rep eyed Jake critically as he finally showed up at the lighthouse, his first impression a less than positive one as he was ignored without so much as an acknowledgement. Death division all right, bunch of arrogant ******** crossed his arms.

"If you can't handle the mission then ******** off. If you can, get in the portal, I'm tired of waiting."
