He'd received notification that his presence was required near the inner dens. It was an unusual call for the architect who spent the vast majority of his time on the outskirts constructing outposts and barriers against the elements. However, without a Councilman, the Bumani were each charged with meeting with any individual that may require assistance. On this occasion the message had been passed on by one of the Mwani, who Solomon was soon to discover, was the father of the individual who sought his assistance.
The hulking lion didn't take very long at all to approach the dens, his paws sweeping along the battered trails with ease. One might have said that he glided rather than walked, given the size of his strides. Nevertheless, his large mass may have been an inconvenience in some respects, but it had benefits in others! He never struggled to construct what he wanted, or move obstacles that he needed relocated.
"Good morning?" he hazarded as he drew to a halt outside of the den that he thought was the correct one. According to the directions and description it was correct. "I was informed that you required the assistance of the Bumani?" he continued, his head tilting to the side as he waited expectantly for the occupant to make themselves known.

"Oh this just won't do at all. Not in the slightest!" the young adult huffed and puffed, clearly pouting as she stared at the back area of her den. Brows were drawn in a displeased furrow, soft green eyes darting around. Her tail flicked behind her with great agitation, scoffing as she turned around abruptly, not wanting to look at her interior any longer! That designer had better be here soon! She couldn't go another second with her home in such a state! In truth nothing was really wrong with it... Caprice simply wanted it to be spruced up! She'd seen another female's den and it was decked out with lovely finds from the ocean, and in the recovering forests... she wanted that too!
Unfortunately she probably had the wrong outlook on the duties of a Bumani... But round ears perked as a voice piped up, making her appearance brighten significantly, and a relieved sigh escape her. She did a small session of grooming, along her chest, arms, and rubbing a paw over her head, before straightening up and stepping out to meet the male. Wearing her most winning smile, the lioness curled and flicked her tail about, the curly dark plume slinking about, "Oh yes! I am so glad that you are here! I could not stand looking at this for another moment! Please, I am faithful that you might be able to improve its state!" a small expression of plea and desperation was written on her fair features, before she turned her head in gesture to the depths of the den.

From the outside her den looked perfectly sturdy and unharmed, and it would have come at no surprise that Solomon was at a loss as to what the issue might be. Was she in need of an extension? He was quick to erase the puzzled expression from his features as Caprice slipped out of her home and greeted him. According to her own facial features, the world could almost have ended, whatever was inside was just that bad. Was it a case that something had collapsed inside?
He hazarded a wry smile and at her gesture, wandered into the den, ducking ever so slightly at the entrance which was just a touch too small for him. Suffice to say that as the offspring of a deity, he was a little bigger than the normal lion. Alas, he made due and slipped into the depths of her home, where he came to a decidedly confused halt at the back. In terms of structural integrity he couldn't see anything wrong at all.
He turned towards Caprice and tilted his head to the side, motioning with his paw to the den.
"I apologise, but you're going to need to be more specific for me. What is the issue and what are the improvements that need to be made...?"

A bit of relief showed on her face as he finally entered her den, following after, certain he'd see how underpar its state was! Of course it had some trinkets here and there, but it was no where near as detailed or extravagant {to her tastes} as the other females she'd seen! Peeking around Solomon's shoulder as he assessed her den, her ears perked as he questioned her, green eyes blinking incredulously.
Could he really not see it's poor state?! Staring at him with shock, she squeezed around him to sway her own paw about towards the back of it, "Can't you see how undignified it is? So unlike the other females dens I've seen. They have so many pretty things pressed into the walls, or pinned up and stringed, dangling!" she gives an exasperated sigh, and looks desperately back up to Solomon, "Mine is nothing like theirs!" her expression was so distraught and pathetic, almost pleading, "Please sir, I deeply hope you could help me! I don't want to be a laughingstock! Or let out of your impeccable designing skills!"

So that was what the problem was? It was his turn to stare incredulously at Caprice as she explained her issue to him. He definitely wasn't an interior designer, it wasn't that he couldn't be one, it just had never been something one so large as him considered on a day to day basis. Admittedly it wasn't his forte either, but as one of a select few Bumani he was going to have to take it all in his stride.
"I can't say I've ever been in a lioness's den before," he replied mildly, lifting a brow at Caprice before he took another moment to eye up her living quarters. So the issue was that there weren't enough 'things'. She wanted more trinkets, more colour, more flare... He could do that, but it was going to take him some time to find all the things that would be suitable for her and just how exotic did she want to be?
Scratch that, he was smart enough not to ask that question!
"What colours are we talking about here? Do you have favourites or are you simply looking for anything...?" he enquired softly. He may have not been the best interior designer but he would definitely give it a shot for her.

As Solomon went on to explain that he wasn't this interior decorator she'd portrayed him to be, an aghast expression rose to her features. He wasn't the one creating all the beautiful intricacy's she'd seen?! It surely couldn't be those other females doing! ... or could it be...? the thought was vexing! She could do better! ...but she just didn't really know how.. or have that many resources at her disposal..
For a moment she was rather crestfallen, her features dampening rather dramatically, ears flopping and eyes lowering to the ground. Great.. now she'd totally be made fun of in the daily gossip amongst ladies! She sighed heavily, almost whining... until he kept speaking...
Almost instantly her eyes snapped back up to meet his, all glittering and shimmering with hope and delight. He would help her after all?! Her tail flickered behind her merrily, and she gave a relieved sigh in place of the distressed one! "Oh thank goodnesss~" she even chuckled lightly from how disappointed she'd gotten! But yes! Colours! Beaming now, she walked a little further towards the back, to show the few bits that were already plastered onto her wall, "Well I really like the softer colours, like pinks, and lavenders, even light whites. Not the really, really white things like those sand dollars. You know? something that's soft." she perked up, as an idea, or thought, popped into her mind, "I love shells, of course! As well as flowers, but those don't last too long... perhaps some starfish!" but she paused, and looked to the male with her brimming excitement, "But what do you think? "

Pastels, she wanted pastels. She was definitely female, that was for sure! He hazarded a wry smile as the lioness immediately shifted from her crestfallen state into one of excitement. She clearly had a passion for what she was talking about and for a moment, he was saddened by the fact that the Bumani didn't have any interior decorators like her. Suffice to say that she would have been a fantastic addition to the group, but he suspected she was also a lioness who preferred not to get her paws dirty.
"Starfish, seashells and flowers," he repeated, lodging all three of these items in his memory as he flicked his gaze about. He took a moment to inspect each of the trinkets that she had before lifting his paw to rub at his chin. Well it was certainly not his forte but he could certainly find the materials. After that it would simply be trial and error as he attempted to meet the lioness's standards.
No pressure, none at all.
"How much time do I have?" he asked at last and tilted his head to the side.

She gave a soft wistful sigh as well, gaze looking back to the walls of her den, "Pearls would be divine but.. they are so difficult to find." a somewhat defeated look contorted back onto her features again, before Solomon asked his question. Her face softened again, and she offered a more pleased expression, with a light smile, "Well we don't have any hurry, but..." she tipped her head in an apologetic manner, "Since I mistook your duty.. I can help you! after all I will have to make sure that the correct items are obtained." she declared, lifting her head proudly, "When can you start? Oh!" she suddenly blinked with unspoken surprise, "I do not even know your name... what might it be? I'm Caprice." She should know the name of the partner she'd be working with to accomplish this renovation, after all!
Walking back around him towards the front of her den, as she awaited the answer, she took a peek up at the sky for a weather check, tail flicking and curling with thought. Looking over her shoulder, she smiled with a hint of excitement, "Can you start today? Or do you have other duties and dens to attend to?" she wanted to get to it as soon as possible! She was rearing and ready to go! There had been another lioness who'd been giving her some stink eyes... and sticking her nose up at her... and that was something Caprice would not tolerate. She'd show her!

Pearls?
Dear gods this female certainly had extravagant tastes, but he should have known that from her mannerisms and the manner in which she carried herself. She had a definite view of what she wanted and he could only surmise that most of what she wanted was incredibly rare, 'expensive', or would require a little thought to get hold of... Pearls fell into all three categories. Oh he knew where they came from, but getting them out proved to be a completely different issue... His claws and clams, well, they didn't get along all that well.
"My name is Solomon," he replied dutifully, following the lioness out of her den and back into the open. He ducked just under the entrance and stepped out, giving his coat a shake. "As for when I can start, your den isn't ridiculously large so we can begin as soon as you're ready. I would anticipate that the longest part of this project will be gathering the supplies, the rest will move along swimmingly once we have them," he continued with a small smile.
Suffice to say that if she wanted to accompany him and point out what she wanted, that was going to make his life very easy!

"Well it is a pleasure to meet you, Solomon, and I am ever grateful for your kindness. I shall not take up anymore of your time than is needed, since I am sure you are in quite high demand!" she stated with a proud smile on her face. "I am Caprice, and help tend to the young." her tail flicked behind her as she mulled over where to start first, and what to collect first! Not everything came from the same place, after all. "Yes I believe you are right. For I am a picky female, Solomon, that I will admit." she took a few steps out from the den, and looked down a few paths that lead elsewhere.
Where to start first... probably the ocean shore. That held most of what she desired. Glancing over to him, brimming with a confident demeanor, Caprice started to lead the way, "Well then, let's get to it! It will be a little more difficult to seek these items when night falls. What with the tide, and all. But I'm certain we can make some good headway!" there was some pride in her step as she glid along the path, tail tuft flicking and swaying behind her merrily, turning her attention to her new company, "Have you decorated your own den, Solomon?" she asked curiously. She didn't see many males who did.. but there were exceptions!

When this lioness received good news she seemed to respond very well to company. He suspected that if he had been less co-operative she might have turned into a bit of a grumpy princess. Nevertheless, he did hazard a smile at her reference to her job - she had to be a good individual deep down if she had the patience to care for children. At least, this was how he regarded such individuals as one who was easily angered would simply lash out...
"So you are a Pombuka, or a Pomithi?" he inquired curiously, aware that the two roles were similar in that they dealt with children. However, he hadn't been in the Bahari long enough to differentiate between the two. "Forgive me, I'm still learning the pride's ways," he confessed.
Falling into step after her, he allowed Caprice to issue her orders and followed obediently. Her remarks were correct and things would be easier to find in daylight. Just so long as she didn't have him snorkling in the water for too long he would be fine...suffice to say that swimming was another thing he was learning, he wasn't yet confident enough to be in the water for extended periods of time.
"I don't have a den," he replied after a few moments and chuckled, motioning briefly to his surroundings with his paw. "I find it easier to sleep outside in the open, and I usually have more important things to do than build myself a den, particularly if I rarely sleep in it."

Epine de Rose She was supposed to be a pombuka, but she's not on her cert for some reason. xDa will have to post in the rank changing guild. His question had her raise a curious brow, and turn her lovely green gaze upon him. "Oh, you're new? Did you come after the terrible disaster, then?" she asked. Perhaps not many would speak of it, but... she was curious if he was one of these new recruits that the pride had been so eager for. "I am a pombuka. It's not too difficult a job, and I believe I'm quite cut out for it. I think some of the other pombuka are a bit too soft on the children. There needs to be some sternness, so that they respect their elders." she states. Of course she wasn't wicked or mean, but she didn't allow the younglings to act out of line on numerous occasions.
As they came closer to the shore, the crashing waves easier to hear now, she found herself even more intrigued with the male with the revealing of his lack of a den. She blinked at him in a perplexed manner, hardly able to believe such words, "No den..? Oh goodness. But have you no trinkets you wish to keep safe and hidden? what if it rains? I can understand sleeping outside during the day, or a warm night, but... always?" she shook her head, and gave him a matter of fact sort of tone to follow, head lifting just a touch more, "I think you should invest in one, Solomon, just in case. It might come in handy."

musicaloner7 xD I think the entire family are the same, Euphrates has the wrong rank on his cert too. He nodded slowly at her question, ears twitching just a touch at her reference to the disaster. He hadn't been born during that period, if anything, he was only slightly older than Caprice, but he knew of it. His mother had been one of the guiding 'powers' that had assisted in the rebuilding of the pride. Admittedly she hadn't performed phenomenal deeds, but it had been by her paws that the lands had received the plants capable of purchasing the inner territory of the salt... salt that would have ultimately killed the native plants.
"My mother spoke highly of this place and told me stories of what had occurred. The bravery and tenacity of the pride wasn't lost on me, even as a child," he smiled sheepishly as he kept pace with the lioness. "When I came of age I elected to follow her example and offered my services as a Bumani - it is in my blood to be larger than normal and I'm therefore appropriate for it," he confessed.
He listened politely to her speak of her own position, his smile deepening as she made reference to the need for discipline among children. He wasn't the best for discipline but he agreed with the necessity, otherwise society would be full of chaos and anarchy. However she soon moved on to his lack of a den and his lips parted momentarily before pressing together again - was his choice of living conditions so peculiar?
"Even when I was a child we had no den," he elected to explain his reasons instead of dismissing her curiosity as idle. "It's something we've never needed or wanted, the company of one another kept us warm enough," he chuckled softly and tilted his head to his side. "It may seem strange, but my most valued possessions lurk within me... I can't house them anywhere else."
"And weather has never been an issue either, I came from the slopes, by all standards this land is much tamer," he remarked. Lapsing into silence, he paused briefly as his toes touched the sand and then returned his gaze to Caprice.
"However I will take your advice into consideration. Should circumstances ever change I will create one, but for now I would prefer to focus on the needs and requirements of the pride rather than myself, no?"
