Pascal normally looked forward to Zia coming over but now he was dreading the thought of ever seeing her. How could he face her? In theory he knew that it wasn't him she had attacked and made accusations against but he couldn't help but sit on the idea that maybe this was really how she felt about him, or that if she ever found out that he was Sailor Orpheus that should would hate him as well. It was bad enough that he hated himself for that very realization but he wasn't sure how he'd feel about Zia being the one to say it.

Unconsciously his hands fell to his throat, rubbing the thick bruising that had taken form around his neck from the attack Zia had. He had gotten so many stupid questions from colleagues and Doug, oh Doug had never stopped asking questions. What was he going to say? There wasn't anything he could say. He tried his best to avoid the questions all together which had just made things worse with some people who had the curiosity of a three year old in the "WHY?" stage of their development.

He had tossed the knife and the belt immediately, not daring to even consider bringing the reminders into his apartment, but he felt as if they were still hanging over him. How was he going to face Zia? Could he face Zia? Right now he didn't want to see and of course that's when there was a familiar knock on the door. ********. He didn't get up or make any motion to get the door. He froze. Maybe if he didn't answer she would go away.

If Zia had been paranoid before, it had reached levels over 9000 after her last encounter with Sailor Orpheus, and she had taken way more pains to check up on people. Pascal was one of them, especially since he'd been one specifically mentioned.

And while she normally would just knock on his door and go back to texting for the short amount of time it took him to get his a** off the couch or put down the robot and answer, this time she wasn't so casual, as much as she was trying to be.

And he wasn't answering.

She tried not to panic but it was hard not to. And any other day she probably would've taken the hint and gone shopping or something. But not now. So after a few minutes she pulled out a phone, a new one she was still trying to configure and took a few minutes to try to remember his number.

And then his phone went off, playing what Pascal thought was most obnoxious song ever as the ringtone for Zia. It was at full volume, high enough that Zia could probably hear it from outside the door. Pascal didn't go anywhere without his phone simply because he couldn't take a chance there would be some totally awesome news feed from NASA so it was obvious he was home but it kept playing and playing, signalling that he wasn't even looking at the text.

Was he working on something? Yes, he was working on ignoring you however maybe he's just lying in there dead.

Zia frowned when she heard the phone ring through the door. This wasn't helping her paranoia. She pounded on the door with more urgency and when she didn't immediately hear movement behind it actually yelled through it.

"PASCAL?"

If she had been thinking of social consequences rather than war time ones she might've been concerned she was coming off like a clingy, desperate stalker girlfriend. But right now she didn't care. She just needed to confirm he was still breathing and if she'd annoyed him by pulling him away from a project, then so be it. She could handle making him annoyed.

Being ignored when his life had been threatened? Not so much.

It began to set in that the reason Zia was so desperate about contacting him was because he may have actually threatened to kill himself by not kill himself. It was complicated, and he realized that if he didn't do something soon there might be a scene. He sighed, got up and slowly there was the sound of footsteps coming across the floor. The door didn't open though, and instead Pascal's head pressed against the frame of the door.

"What is it?" He didn't sound very pleased, not like when he usually greeted Zia.

Zia exhaled a huge sigh, releasing a knot that had formed she didn't even know was there until it was gone. Okay, he was cool. For now.

But it allowed her to wonder what the deal was with the greeting, and ignoring her.

Her relieved ghost of a smile turned into a confused frown. "What's wrong?" She craned her neck, a result of him hiding behind the cracked door and not being able to see him. "I... is something wrong? Are you okay?" She was back to being awkward again, trying to figure out how to act while concern, worry, and fear all mingled in her voice. She gave him the same kicked puppy look she'd given Noah when he felt the need to elaborate to people they were only half siblings. Zia didn't handle rejection well. At all.

Pascal had hoped that if he answered that would have been enough. He dreaded the idea of facing her, unable to think of how he might react to the flip of a coin emotions she gave him depending on how she seen him. It wasn't her fault, he knew this but logic was completely thrown out the window under his disgust and rage.

"I don't want to talk to you, could you just leave?"

Talk about rejection. He didn't want to think about the sort of face she was making, making an effort not to even peek.

Zia was torn. Part of her was like 'oh, it's okay, he just doesn't want to talk to you you dumb b***h, let's go shopping' and the other half was legitimately hurt. Why? Why did people always get sick of her? Well, probably because she treated them like s**t but now wasn't the time for inner debates. Even when she was alone, when she wasn't speaking to her friends and was abandoned by Zirconia, Pascal had been her friend. This snarky guy who didn't judge her and had his own issues and made her comfortable even for short moments and she had a very big problem with his rejection.

"I... why?" She put one hand on the door like she was afraid he's slam what little amount he'd opened it on her. "Did I do something?"

Internally Pascal just wanted to open the door and solve things the good old fashion way but there were so many emotions going on inside that he didn't even know where to start. He was so frustrated with her, not just because she had attacked him but her blatant disrespect for her own life. She had told him to kill her and he was imagining a situation where someone was more than willing.

Slowly the door opened though, and standing there shirtless with a rather unhappily was Pascal. Complimenting his expression was a wild variety of bruises all over his torso with the most prominent bruise creating a dark ring around his neck. It looked like he got into a really bad fight and it most certainly wasn't with Doug. He was scowling, that much was sure. He wanted to say that she had done something but there was no way he could explain it. All he could do was simply frown with a sigh, leaving things up to her own imagination.

Zia felt a small surge of hope when he fully opened the door. She hated this so much, more than she was expecting to with Pascal, but still. The door was opened and maybe they could just make out a little, put whatever had happened behind them and move on like all their other ugliness.

Except that's not what happened. He just stood there scowling at her and she felt her stomach drop to her feet from this guilt she felt and couldn't even place the reason for. And he was hurt. He was this hurt, angsty sad puppy and she wanted to fix it and make it better, but she was too afraid to push her way in like the last time someone had hurt him.

"Oh god... are... I..." Why did she feel like crying? Ugh, she felt stupid.

She cleared her throat before managing to get out a complete, if weak sounding, sentence. "Can I fix it?" Meaning everything. Whatever she did to garner his anger, his injuries, his problems everything. She wanted them solved so badly and found a bubbling frustration at the fact even if he said 'yes' she wouldn't have one ******** clue about how to go about it.

The way she was just staring at him was kind of annoying but honestly what had he expected? He was bruised beyond simply having someone punch him in the face and how dark they were just made anyone who looked at him realize the worse. There was no angry girl who hit him for no reason to use as an excuse for this one even if it was true.

Tired of being stared at so innocently by the one who had done this to him, Pascal left the door and went over to the couch where he hestitantly sat down. It hurt like a mother ******** but he resisted out of feeling positive she'd rush over to assist. How long had he lived here? Not too long but short enough to make how many times someone had been injured in his apartment to make him question how normal of a life he had really obtained. Sure, two of them had been because of senshi but all of them involved Zia...

"I don't think this can be fixed." Double meaning? His mind was certainly contemplating it.

He might as well have kicked Zia in the gut because that's how she looked. He sat down and even if he didn't visibly show how much it hurt, she had to restrain herself pretty hard from rushing over.

He didn't want her here, he was making that blatantly obvious. So she resigned herself to leaning on the door frame wondering why she felt so heartbroken over this. And then like a ******** idiot because she hadn't known him long enough to deserve feeling heartbroken. She'd probably blame it on Zirconia messing with her emotional constitution.

"I'm sorry," She mumbled, avoiding eye contact. For someone who didn't know what she did, she accepted the guilt wholeheartedly.

"Can I try anyway?"

Pascal had mostly been ignoring her up until she said she was sorry, causing his neck to whip around to look at her. Immediately he regretted his choice, his hands going up to comfort the base of his neck with an unpleasant groan. He hadn't expected her to say that, considering she didn't know she was the one who did this to him. It was such an unhealthy relationship, his thoughts reminded him. It was like he was the wife in a bad marriage and just kept going back to the monster.

Okay, so maybe Zia wasn't a monster but he was holding onto quite a grudge. Quite a just grudge. If only he had the foresight to know she'd attack him again, then he'd never have invited her to the gym. God, there was no way he could go back there until this s**t healed up. Doug would be over his a** so quick with concern he wouldn't even have the words for it and might just embarrass himself by saying a girl did it which would then bring them into a role play scenario where this happened due to some fetishes.

"Close the door," he answered. Not a yes or a no but he wasn't slamming the door on her face yet.

Zia's mouth twisted at his reaction to her apology, though it was out of fear he'd ask if she knew what she was apologizing for and the answer would be a no. Or a lie. Or a bunch of really sad guesses about what a shitty friend she was to him.

'Close the door' gave her more hope than it probably should've. But she did so with a quick nod, and maybe a little too much enthusiasm.
