Welcome! This marks the start of Friday's Farm Raid. This thread serves as an entry point to the rp and as a role-call. It will open at about 12:30 pm CST and finish around 2:00 pm CST. This gives people time to adjust to several people in one rp as well as a chance for people to finish up whatever else they've got going on and settle in. I am aware of a few people that will be late to the party, if you are one of those please quote me in the main thread of the shop to get my attention and I'll get you settled into a team. You can act like your rabbit's been there all along. ------------------------------------------- SuggestionsJust some tips to help survive posting in a chaotic free-for-all- 'claim' your post first before typing up your response. You can always go back and edit your post and fill in the rp, but that lets your teammates and me know to wait and expect something. - Keep your rabbit's post-style copied in a notepad and easily grabbed for whenever you need. - I suggest putting a thumbnail image of your bun in the corner of each post so that people that aren't familiar with you or your rabbit will quickly know and understand who they're talking to and interacting with. If you don't know how to make an image a thumbnail: - grab the image's url - and add "th_" right before the image's name. Example below.
Original url: http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p561/WDpets/Tags/HeronCert.png
Thumbnail image: http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p561/WDpets/Tags/th_HeronCert.png - Keep your teammates in the loop. I highly suggest creating a large chatroom on Skype, MSN, AIM or even something as silly as creating a game on Gaia like in Puzzles and give the password to your teammates. That way you can talk to each other quickly on a private channel and hopefully grab their attention when needed. If all of these things aren't available, quote people in the main thread, PM them, or even make small OOC notes in the bottom of your rp posts to let them know when you're going afk for water or need to run somewhere. - Try the Buddy System. If you know and trust someone on your team with your phone number, offer to swap numbers and text each other when something happens or they're needed.

They had already left the Down and still Althea hadn't spoken. It was bitterly windy, and cold to the bone. Still hadn't really snowed yet, and thank Frith for small blessings, but the desperation on the Down was very apparent.
It would have to be, for them to be sent out on this fool's errand again.
Scouting parties had brought back only meager tidings from the woods, and the population of the warren was simply too large. Silflaying had become a sordid affair. Fights over they smallest tuft of unwilted grass, rabbits flung out far from the warren in search of food... ...and not returning.
This was a desperate bid at survival, and Althea did her best to ignore the hunger pangs in her own stomach. She still didn't think this was worth it, but at least there were more Owsla going this time.
Small blessings.

Dragon walked with pride and purpose, his eyes fixed in a scowl and harrowing glare. He crushed the brittle grass beneath an authoritative step and, true to his name, smoke coiled from his nostrils. It was just his breath in the frosty air but the tailess buck still looked intimidating. He was a beast of a rabbit and had been spending the days before resting and using rocks to sharpen his teeth. He had killed a cat by himself before, but even experience like that did not guarantee survival.
He stopped as the rest of the party did but never stopped observing his surroundings, one of his ears turning from side to side as he listened. He spoke only once. "It is different without the birds making noise." He meant the crows he had grown used to in his hutch and all the noise they used to make. The fields were silent today.

Ginkgo sat at attention, his long, limber body stiff and unmoving despite the cold winds that gusted along the down. The tawny furred buck was cold, hungry, and ornery. He was never not ornery, however, and his narrowed eyes and slight frown seemed naturally stuck to his features. Today's affair, however, was a grim one, yet much needed. Althea would be leading this raid, just as she had the last time. He'd been stuck on the down, patrolling for elil. This time, he'd be in the fray and while he was worried, he was also eager to get on with it. The sooner they raided the farm, the sooner they could return to the warmth and safety of the warren.
He did not speak.
He merely nodded to Althea, signalling that he was ready and she had his full support. He wasn't known for being the nicest buck, but he had the warren's best interest at heart and would put his all into this raid.
Feverfew sat impatiently, grooming her torn ear as she awaited orders. She'd volunteered the moment she heard there would be a second raid. So many rabbits had been wounded last time and poor Ray never made it home. She was more than ready to help out, hoping that she could at least make some sort of difference. She was scared, but her demeanor did not express it more than subtly. Her red eyes were hard and her jaw set as she settled on to all fours, ears at attention.

+Bloodroot+ Bloodroots ears were miserably flat. Why were they meeting in weather like this? Surely these Warren rabbits were not so hard up on food to risk their paws to the bite of cold; or their ears for that matter. Seeing as they were gathering, he supposed so. One would wonder why he was here, well it was simple; he was quiet tired of living on his own and with winter coming so quickly; he saw little choice in his options. He had luck in the seasons before; but Frith knows his luck wouldn’t last forever and as far as it went; it had been holding strong for a surprising amount.
So here he was, huddled and cold; and glaring at anyone stupid enough to approach him. He would do this, and show he could be of some help, and then he hoped to join. No one said he had to be mushy and gooey to the sweet bitty warren rabbits. He just had to help get food, and protect those he could. (( ooc: ))

Pepper was also silent on the trek from the down to the outskirts of the farm. He shared Althea's view on this second raid. It was a fools errand. But at this point in time a necessary one. Turning to face Althea he gave her a grim smile " have faith old friend, soon this will be all over and good times will come once more to the down"

Here they all went again, another raid for food. There had been no words this time. Things were bleak with the kittens growing bigger, stronger and there were also the hutch rabbits. Talltale sighed as he followed everyone else down the Down and across the wilds. They were headed for the farm again, this time he hoped to see everyone returning home safely. The moral after the last one was a little low despite to what was brought home. This was a second chance to bring home more and try to get everyone home safely.
The wind bit into his bones as he worked his way with the others. This was going to be hard going and worse if the farmer was practicing his shot. Shuddering from the tips if his ears to his tail, the buck blocked out the cold and moved faster.

Lamb's Ear hopped behind Althea and Pepper, not saying much. She looked to the two more experienced rabbits. This time, she'd be running on Pepper's team, the same as she'd done for Althea. She wasn't looking forward to going back to the farm, but she did this for the warren. There were four new mouths to feed, after all, plus all of the kittens and marli who would need nourishment. But was going back so soon wise? What if the farmer had set more snares? She lifted a paw to her neck, touching the thin scar that snaked around it, a grisly reminder of her first foray off the down.
Hopefully this wouldn't be her last.Ooc: I am at work and can't get on AIM or Skype right now. Sorry! Also, very sorry if I disappear. My boss might have me do something, which will be out of my control.

Raven gritted her teeth and pulled herself over to the group that had begun to form. Her leg had begun to heal but still hurt like hell and made her leg stiff where the farmer's bullet went through. The cold air certainly wasn't helping. For the last few weeks she'd been pretty much hiding herself away in the burrows, tending to her wound and truth be told, feeling quite sorry for herself. She was pleased that no one in her team had died while she had been in charge, but getting hit by a bullet felt so pathetic and had almost made her give up on becoming an Owsla altogether... almost. Raven had no intention of attending this second raid - not with her injury slowing her down. However, Althea had insisted; and there was no way she was going to disappoint her own Marli. Mouse-Ear was bursting with energy, so much so that the cold air hadn't even begun to hit him yet. Frankly he wasn't even entirely sure what specific things were going to happen on the farm, but gathering food was definitely something that interested him. Peering around at the few others who had begun to arrive Mouse sighed dramatically; his brother hadn't arrived yet and Mouse didn't know anyone here besides the Owsla who he'd never spoken to personally. With an impatient humph he slumped down on the grass to await further instruction... of which he had no intention of following unless it suited him at the time. "Ugh... this is boring... can we just go now?"

Ani was a bit more somber this time, still she wore a smile. She had been promoted to runner, an extreme achievement, or so she felt. She ran along in silence, not sure what to do since Snakeroot wasn't here. The doe had actually let her go alone and that was another thing that had Ani somber. Her nose stung a bit, and her lungs hurt but all in all she was in high spirits. Why had she done this again? She honestly couldn't remember anymore, her sister needed food, the warren needed food. So here she was out on some suicide mission once more. The last one hadn't been so bad, it had actually been pretty ok. Only one rabbit lost, she had expected many more.

Greenstrike scanned the faces of his companions with a frown. His steps were light and cautious as he followed the crowd. This would be his first raid and he was never aware of the dangers until now. Everyone seemed impossibly grim. Green was eager to lend a paw and retrieve a lot of food for the warren... perhaps even brighten their faces and restore hope during the impending winter. He realized now that it was going to be a dark process. The inexperienced buck patiently waited for instructions, and repressed the desire make a joke in an attempt to lighten the mood; Judging by the expressions of the owsla, there would be painful consequences if he made the wrong move.
