Saya hadn't been around since the past announcement and she doubted anyone would really notice in the commotion. She sat on the rocks, her boots laying silently on the shoreline as she dipped her feet into the cold water.

It was winter, of course it was freezing cold.

It wouldn't be so bad if she died of the cold, if Kat and Ryan were going to die in the desert. She wanted to believe they could survive but they were so close the lair .. She just couldn't see the chances of Locke and Xedis wasn't there with them.

Locke and Xedis were locked away.

And there was Eva, Wilson and Dakota.

Remembering the events, quiet sobs and a barely visible shaking from the trainee's balled up frame along the seaside, her hair pulled out of it's braid to sadly fall downwards. Why did it have to be all of them-- Every single one of them. But that was the reason why it was them, since they were the best, of course they would have stood up for Ceres and Bix. How lucky Saya had been, to make friends with them.

Except she wasn't sure if they were friends anymore.

[Ya should head in soon, kiddo.] Mmhm. [Ya gonna get a cold, kiddo.] Mmhm. He heard the catoblepas sigh in his head while Wilson lay sprawled out on the sandy beach. As he shifted slightly, the hunter could feel the tiny grains slip past her shirt and down his back, burrowing into his sleeves, crawling everywhere. It was nothing to him, though. His goggles were pulled down over his eyes while the sound of waves crashing against rocks lulled him into a false sense of tranquility. As calm as he felt, the doubts and dread drummed in the back of his mind. Kat and Ryan were gone with slim chances of returning. The Sahara always spelled doom to the hunters. And without their weapons? Perhaps they were goners, but Wilson didn’t want to accept that.

He covered his eyes with both hands. [Kiddo. I think someone’s here.] So the hunter rose like the dead, sand running down his clothes and bareback. When he twisted around to get a better look of his surroundings, he spotted a familiar moon trainee in the distance. “Saya!” he called out and waved once to gesture her over. He didn’t know why. It just felt right. And maybe, just maybe, he was lonely and confused, and needed someone to talk with.

Saya visibly paused, as she saw Wilson. Actually, from a closer distance, she froze as she saw Wilson. He was waving her over but what if he wanted to tell her bad news? What if it was worse than last time, it was highly likely since Caelius could be like that. Or what if Wilson simply wanted to talk? Would the blame and censure at the hunters who didn't help, come out in the conversation? There was a moment of internal debate until Prompto cut into her fluttering thoughts, the first time he had spoken in awhile--

"No regrets, remember?"

Her fingers hooked into her yellow boots, the boots trailing small bits of sand as the small moon trainee walked toward Wilson. She knelt down next to him, one had smoothing out the sand subconsciously to place her boots down. Her hair was down, over her shoulder, and her sash was unwrapped to act as a shawl, although, the shawl was a little shorter than usual.

"...."

She paused. Wilson couldn’t blame her. A variety of reasons popped into his head for her hesitation. It had been a while since they had last talked. He was on probation. Someone else’s life was on the line because of one stupid thing. Who would want to be seen with him at this moment? But then Saya picked up her boots and sat down next to him. He leaned back into the sand, the grains falling into his hair and clothes a second time.

The moon trainee was silent, but that was okay. He didn’t expect her to speak first when he had been the one to call her over. “You left before Caelius gave Ryan and Kat their punishment, right?” His face turned toward Saya. “Do you want to know what is was, or would you rather remain oblivious?” He made no mention of her not speaking up because he wouldn’t have wanted her to anyways. He should have been the one to pay for his disobedience, but instead it was Ofie. Her wellbeing was riding on her shoulders and he wasn’t sure how long he could take it for. “…You okay?”

"I .. did. I thought they might walk out and we could .. um .. talk but by the time I realized they weren't coming out .. it was too late." Saya confessed, huddling her knees close to her chest. She idly traced her finger in the sand, the scribbles vaguely resembling the two hunters who dominated her mind the most. The signature goggles and pony tail, while the other face has a cute bandage replacing his nose.

"I would rather know about it." Her other hand reached out, to tug at Wilson's sleeve. She definitely didn't want to hear it but hunters didn't often get what they wanted, did they?

She shook her head at Wilson's last question, refusing to speak in the case her voice wobbled. if she heard her own voice wobble, she realized, she might not be able to keep the tears from flowing over the precarious dam of her heart. She couldn't pretend it rained or go into the ocean--

An important fact was that she had no tissues on her.

Wilson nodded understandingly. “Trust Caelius to throw them out via portal,” he said, laughing half-heartedly. He looked over at the scribbles. It took him a while to recognize the drawings at first due to the angle and uneven ground, but eventually he noticed the ponytail and bandage-covered nose. The hunter turned away.

“Yeah, okay.” As she tugged at his sleeve, he rose up from the sand. He brushed off the grains clinging to his clothes before he spoke quietly, “He sent them to the Sahara.” Wilson pursed his lips together. “I…have faith that they’ll come back somehow.” He didn’t. Not really.

The lack of words made him suspicious. “Are you sure?” He leaned in closer, but stayed careful to not encroach on Saya’s personal bubble. “Really, really sure?”

It was a new sight for Wilson, as the male got up, Saya was literally curled up in a ball at this point. After hearing the news, her arms and knees curled in closer, until she looked like a very very small female. Tears stained her teal stockings, unable to hold back a shaky reply.

"I'm okay. Compared to them in the desert right now, I'm okay. Why wouldn't I be okay?"

If it was possible, which didn't appear to be, but Saya curled even deeper into her ball.

She had a soft tone, as she spoke, as the waves rode up closer to the shoreline. She shook her head as she spoke, her hands pulling her sash over her cold legs. She lifted her white sleeve to wipe at brimming tears as she spoke, eyes squeezed shut.

"I can't apologize enough .. I couldn't protect or help my precious nakama. You, Dakota, Eva, Kat and Ryan. "

He blinked rapidly a few times, as if he couldn’t believe the startling sight in front of him. Saya seemed like a cheerful sort, at least, not the type to curl herself into a tight ball. Wilson frowned, but as he reassessed the situation decided that perhaps the girl was indeed the type to do so. It was an understandable reaction, at least. He sighed and shifted around until he was on his knees and leaning over the tiny trainee. “Okay is relative, so you are perfectly justified in not feeling okay if you are.” Despite the tangible evidence, he was willing to play along for now.

A hand reached out to try and brush away strands of her hair, then any tears still lingering on her face. The corner of his lips curled into a weak grin. “Have you been with Allan lately?” Then Wilson sighed and patted her head. “There’s no need to apologize. I was wrong and right anyways. I was right to stand up for my comrades, but I was wrong to disobey orders in the field.”

Wilson eyed her sash and moved to stand up while trying to scoop her into his arms. “Let’s get you back to the dorms for now.”

Eva had calmed down some after talking to both Gale and Otto. While she could not bring herself to regret what she had done, the young woman had promised herself--and Otto--that she would not step out of line again in the future. In the end, things had somehow worked out for both Bix and Ceres, but a number of hunters who had meant well were now put on the spot.

Including Kat and Ryan. It was those two that pained Eva the most. While most of them had been given a second chance, those two...

Deciding that she was probably not going to get any sleep tonight, Otto had volunteered to chill with her for the remaining few hours until they would be called up to hand in their revised mission reports and meet with Caelius again. After a few hours passed, Eva decided to excuse herself for a few minutes, telling the blond that she wanted to go and stretch her limbs a little and that she would be right back. She had been in the midst of this little walk when she spotted a familiar figure heading down the hall. At first, her eyes lit up at the sight of Wilson...but then her gaze flickered down into the girl in his arms, and her brows immediately creased with worry.

She quietly took a few hurried steps forward, lips curved into a frown. When she spoke, she was careful to keep her voice soft. "Wilson, uh...w-what happened? Is she okay?" There was a pause, and then she pressed her palms pressed against her thighs as she leaned down so that she could be eye-level with the girl. "What's wrong, Saya? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"No Allan lately. He's probably too busy for a trainee like me anyways." Saya's voice was soft, not minding that the hunter scooping her up, her body and mind too exhausted to say otherwise. Besides, even if it was rude, Saya couldn't bring herself to refuse Wilson's support. She reminded herself that she would apologize later, her mind briefly returning to the memories of her first encounter of Wilson. That had been all about Allan then-- but there was a lot more than Allan now, which was a pleasant change in Saya's trainee life. There was Ryan, Kat, Wilson, Gale, Charlotte, Petra ... and Eva!

.... (((( ;°O°))))

Saya couldn't protect Eva either!

At the sight of Eva, Saya teared up a little more. Especially since Eva was so considerate and even bent down to talk to Saya, although Saya knew that Eva wouldn't have down otherwise ..

"I-I'm sorry Eva. I couldn't protect you either."

“I’m sure Allan would make the time if you asked. He’s a bit off his rockers, but he’s nice and he means well. Allan isn’t my favorite leader.” What do you expect when the leader had tossed Wilson 50+ feet? At least he didn’t mean to do it. “But he’s a close second, I guess.” He took a moment to adjust his hold so his grip was stronger, less likely to drop Saya if something surprised him.

Like Eva suddenly appearing out of nowhere. He had been too distracted to notice her approach. Wilson glanced at Eva. “Oh! Hey. Well. We were just talking for a bit. I decided to carry Saya back to her dorms. She didn’t…feel like it.” The hunter really had a way with words sometimes. “Physically, she’s fine.”

Then Wilson frowned down at Saya. “I told you, you don’t need to apologize. There’s nothing to apologize for.” He looked at Eva and half-nodded toward the dorms. Let’s go.

Eva visibly relaxed a little when Wilson informed her that the girl was okay physically, but then...did that mean something was wrong mentally, then? She seemed tired somehow, and the young woman couldn't help but fret a little upon seeing the usually so bright and cheerful girl so down. She opened her mouth to say something, only to find herself interrupted by...an apology?

...?

Clearly, judging by the look of confusion on Eva's face, she didn't think there was anything for Saya to apologize for. "I--...wait, what happened?" Looking puzzled, she straightened up, lifting a hand to rub the back of her neck as she shot Wilson a questioning look. When he indicated that they should head off towards the dorms, Eva was more than happy to agree, giving a little nod and a small, "after you" gesture.

"Nothing happened. That's why it's all wrong-- I didn't do anything." Her pensive and withdrawn tone was faint, enough to hear only from their close proximity to the trainee. Saya buried herself in a ball, in Wilson's arms. Eventually, they would reach Saya's unlocked dorm room and the trainee was asleep. Her slightly puffy eyelids and undone hair, spilling over her shoulder, was reminiscent of a much younger girl in a much farther time ago.

Her room was bare, with the exception of a few star stickers on a notebook on her small desk.

The trainee was exhausted in her sleep, never stirring over any action of conversation Wilson or Eva might of had.

Wilson sighed as he gripped Saya tighter while she buried herself further. “Doing something wouldn’t have done you much good either,” he reasoned, but said very little as the trio reached Saya’s room. Considering his arms were full, he looked to Eva to open the door for him. Then Wilson looked back down at the moon trainee in his arms and smiled softly. He liked that Saya cared. Because sometimes it felt like a lot of people on the island didn’t care at all.

“So,” he started in a quiet voice, “how are you handling the punishment?”

And suddenly the reason for why Saya was so upset was made clear. Eva opened her mouth to say something--to reassure the poor girl--but she froze when she realized that the younger girl was beginning to drift off. After a moment of pause, she simply shook her head, the corners of her mouth curving upwards in a faint smile as she held the door open for Wilson and Saya. The fact that the latter was upset at all touched her, and she was not at all upset that she had not spoken up during that meeting. If anything, Eva would have preferred if Gale or anyone else had not put themselves forward for her--the knowledge that they were potentially in danger because of her still made her anxious.

Perking up at Wilson's question, she sighed and gave a little shrug of her shoulders. "Could be worse, I guess," She murmured, careful to keep her voice low so as to not wake their sleeping friend, "It makes me anxious knowing that Gale's all caught up in this now though. ...How are you doing?"
