24 hours. That was more than enough time to get these reports written, but Eva found that she was unable to relax, her heartbeat thumping at a rapid pace in her chest and her hands curled into fists. Although Chara had calmed down some, there was still a nervous, meek edge to her voice as she tried to encourage the young woman to calm down. Heading down the hallway with Gale, Eva stopped in front of her room and turned to offer Gale a faint smile. "Come in. Uh, I don't have much, but...sit wherever you'd like."
Indeed, her room was completely bare with the exception of a bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe. And, of course, a small army of plush toys that decorated her bed. Shutting the door behind them, she grabbed a hardcover book, setting it under her mission report sheet as she sunk down on the floor with her back against the bed. There was a moment of silence, and then she sighed, lifting a hand to clutch at her temples.
"Gale, I...I'm so, so sorry to have dragged you into this mess. It'd be one thing if the threat of execution was only being hung over my head, but for you to possibly be in danger now too..." It had been clever, she had to admit. Caelius knew that they wouldn't rebel against his orders if he put their friends' lives on the line, and he was right.

Gale had never been in Eva's room, but it was surprisingly empty. He stepped inside, peering around a little curiously, but Eva sinking to the floor dragged his attention back to her.
His tensed shoulders relaxed a little. Gale shifted, moving to sit in front of her, a little awkward with the bulking wrappings and sling.
"Hey," he said, and tilted his head to the side, trying to catch her gaze. "Nobody asked me to be dragged into this mess. I dragged myself into it - and I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
He gave her a wan smile. "I've already done my penance for Caelius. Something about what happened to him before has pushed his sanity to the limits, if there was ever any sanity left in him at all. But it's not your fault."
Giving a nod, Gale reached for her hand and squeezed it gently before leaning back.
"We can do this, come on. I won't let you die, and I won't die either."

Her gaze flickered up to meet his, and slowly, the corners of her lips curled upwards in a faint smile. "Thank you, Gale. I...haha, I really appreciate it. Hopefully there won't be a need for you to ever have to volunteer yourself like this again though." Eva didn't regret what she had done by defending Ceres--she couldn't regret it--but if she inevitably put a life of a friend on the line by doing this again...
The young woman shook her head to rid herself of this thought, and then motioned towards the bed and then the desk chair. "Make yourself comfortable, okay?" She cast his arm a pointed look and then sighed and shook her head, "Caelius...honestly, I don't know...what he's thinking sometimes. I guess I should just be grateful that he decided to give us all a second chance."
Except Kat and Ryan. Eva swallowed a lump that had suddenly formed in her throat at the thought of the other two trainees. Although they had left the room before hearing what their punishment was, she sincerely doubted that it would be anything better than the execution order that the rest of them had gotten.
Turning her hand over, Eva smiled and gave his hand a gentle squeeze back, her expression suddenly becoming determined. "Yeah...yeah, we can do this, no problem. I just need to rewrite my report, right? And your report is on, er, how I've...changed my ways?" Didn't sound too, too bad.
