For all intensive purposes, Remarque's evening should have ended after visiting Esme and bidding Nicolae goodbye. He could have just made his way home, taken some time to think on the matter. Instead, he'd left the apartment, and found himself powered up less than a minute later. More than that, though, he'd withdrawn his compact (with a disdainful little sigh) and set about getting in contact with Toutatis.

He could only hope that no one else was out tonight to see him with a damaged compact. For the girls on the team? Yeah, sure—this worked fine. For Virtus, even, it probably worked fine. For him? He seriously needed to collect everyone's phone numbers so he didn't have to deal with his compact.

He was meandering through the park idly when he contacted her, sticking near to identifiable locations in case an audience was required; he wanted her to be able to get to him or get somewhere to meet her easily if it came down to that. He had already exerted a fair deal of patience earlier in the day, so waiting for a response was more annoying than he cared to admit. At least he could justify that the wait was very much worth it.

Even though she had gotten herself into a rough spot not long ago, it hadn't stopped Toutatis from patrolling. If anything it was something to help her let off some steam from time to time when she had too much time to mull over things. After the whole thing with Requiem, Leto and Aurora she just wasn't all in the mood to deal with things Court related so kept much to herself the past few days.

Not that she minded. Most of the time she patrolled alone anyhow.

When she got Remarque's call though, she hesitated. She had thought about calling him that first night but had held off. Toutatis didn't need anymore lecturing from anyone that night. While he had told her to call him if she needed anything it was the same thing Leto had said. And look how that turned out.

But she guessed that he called because he might have spoken to Aurora. She hadn't heard from her friend in a while and it was safe to say that she was worried. If he could put her at ease at least over that perhaps she would start to feel better.

She approached the park where he was waiting. It wasn't hard to pick up where he was. Not with that large Chaos signature blipping in the distance. When she approached she had a cool expression. A dark, yellowish bruise still visible across her nose from where she'd taken a fist to the face. "Evening Remarque."

Remarque wasted little time in looking the senshi over. "Evening, Toutatis," he greeted, out of formality alone. The first thing he noted of her was that she was sporting a bruise, and he could only wonder if that was product of the incident he'd spoken of with Aurora or if she had obtained the bruise elsewhere. The fact that he was staring right at it was a giveaway of his interest, and he wasn't shy when he asked, "Was that Requiem, too, or have you been off getting into your own scuffles?"

Of which, there was obviously an option he would have preferred, but right now he just wanted to collect what information was available. After speaking with Aurora, he figured she'd be all right; she wasn't dying, and she had someone to take care of her. He'd heard her side of the story, and all that was left was see what Toutatis had to report—and how this whole thing had affected her.

Her hand went to her nose instinctivly. Suddenly very self concious about the bruise. Having tried to hide it as well as she could with make up. That in and of itself was a hard thing to do apparently.

But his remark about Requiem confirmed her suspicions. He had spoken with Aurora. Or maybe he had run into Leto. No, no. It had to have been her friend. Her friend who was seriously MIA at the moment. Not that Toutatis hadn't tried to locate her, Aurora just didn't seem to want to be found, at least not by her, at the moment. Which was kind of irritating.

A wry, tight lipped smile came to her lips. "I've had my own scuffles of course. But no, this was her handy work."

"Impressive," he said, and while he might not have agreed with the apparent brutality of Requiem's methods, there was no denying that he was impressed with her skill.

"I've spoken to Aurora," he said, rather interested in getting to the point. It was late enough already, and if she had been injured, he didn't want to stress herself out further. "She's given me an account of what transpired. I was wondering if you could give me any more information? You must understand my position—I've worked with Requiem for as long as I've been in the Dark Mirror Court. She gave me my own training." Never combat; he hadn't ever thought he'd needed help in that department. If all her sessions were like that, he was glad he'd never sparred with her. "So I'd like to hear anything you can report to me before I make a decision on the proper action."

Consulting Leto being at the top of his list for 'proper action', of course. Right alongside making sure that everyone involved was faring well after the incident.

Nodding, Toutatis could understand what kind of position this whole situation would put him in. As Vice Captain she really wasn't entirely sure if any action would do much, but she could give him an A for effort at least. While she was more mildly irritated now as to what had transpired, she only had herself to blame. So most of the irritation was at herself. And how out of control she had gotten. She didn't want anything like that to happen again. Especially if it meant her nose getting punched in and harsh words being thrown around.

While she probably would rather not have a run in with Requiem again, she couldn't fault the Eternal for her reaction either. Really, Toutatis just wanted to forget it ever happened and move on. Make apologies where she needed to, cause she knew she'd end up doing a lot of boot licking anyway.

Though she had a secret thought.

Shrugging her shoulders, she was unsure of what else to tell him. "Requiem called us out there. She scared Aurora, complimented me for fighting back, back handed Aurora for squealing then told us to fight each other." Her lips pulled tight across her teeth. "Something in Aurora changed momentarily. I don't know what....but she attacked Requiem with her powers. Pissed her off good cause you know the whole love thing. She plopped Aurora into a coffin after I tried to knock her out of the way." Biting her lip, Toutatis' eyes lidded half way in bitter amusement. "I tried to help Aurora, lost control. Used my powers on Requiem to try and get her to stop before she really hurt her. It was a stupid move I know." She let out a long winded sigh. "I guess Aurora called Leto out to help while she was in the coffin. I wasn't even sure how the hell she'd arrived since I'd be laid out on my back by then. Leto stopped Requiem of course and I'm glad she was there to do so. I don't know Requiem all that well and honestly don't know how far she would have gone. Words were said, that I'm sure I'll have to pay for in the very near future, feelings were hurt then we all went home."

God damn that felt like the longest story she had ever told in her life. And really that was cutting it as short as she could. She quirked an eyebrow at Remarque. "I suspect you wouldn't be asking me about all this now unless something happened to have dragged you into it. Quite honestly I would just like to move on, I don't need Leto any more mad at me than I'm sure she already is." A frown tugged at the corner of her lips. "If anyone is at fault for exacerbating the situation during the day it would be me. I couldn't put my duties above my feelings. How do you do it? How do you just shut it all off like that?"

Toutatis provided Remarque with a surprisingly candid, modest account of the evening, and he felt a bit of pride in that. Honesty was something he appreciated being treated with, and he nodded in slight response. "I don't," he replied simply. "Shut anything out. Redirecting, though, that's a different story. Filtering is a skill to learn, and if you are interested, certainly one we'll look into exploring when it's not so late in the evening. Now, in my opinion," and he certainly had one, "You did the wrong thing for the right reasons. I can't promise that I wouldn't have gotten upset if someone—even a member of the Court—had hurt an ally of mine. Particularly a very dear friend. But within the Court, it's a matter of structure—a matter of trust. Requiem, so far as I know, would not ever intentionally harm you to the degree which occurred, though it seems that with both parties being so provoked that things got out of hand. I disagree with the brutality that took place, as I imagine that sort of aggression should be aimed explicitly towards those who oppose us, however emotions are powerful tools, unfortunately. She has a far different background than you or I, however, so she was acting as she has learned. Your loyalty to Aurora is something to be admired, however I do hope that such loyalty will continue towards both your peers and your leaders. As it stands, what happened is regrettable, and not something I'd like to see repeated from either party. I do wish you both a hasty recovery, and Requiem, if she sustained any damage."

He crossed his arms over his chest, feeling a bit relieved that there was not some awkward spat going on between the new senshi and the old. He had no intention to outright chastise her, merely make the best of a situation that could have been very nasty. "What you did violated our expectations, however it did took courage, and I give you credit for that. If an order senshi of the same rank attacked Aurora, I'd hope you two fought back with the same ferocity. Against Requiem, however…"

He clucked his tongue. "Perhaps not the best move. I understand that there were the best intentions, but that training was poorly executed. This is something I hope we can remedy in the future to prevent such harm from reaching any of our Court. That in mind, how are you holding up?" he prompted, and despite the complications that had arisen, he still cared very much for her well being. "Are you all right? And have you spoken to Requiem since?"

Toutatis rubbed at her upper arm lightly. While a bit prideful she could admit when she needed more guidance. What use would she be to everyone is she flew off the handle all the time? Especially with what her powers could do to people. She had had enough bad experiences with it to last her for a while now. "I think that would be a good idea for myself if you would not mind guiding me."

She listened. For once she just listened and took in everything that he had said. Nodding occasionally. "While I understand, it is hard to trust someone right out when you have never met them before. I know, knew nothing about Requiem so how was I suppose to gauge that she would not do worse? She is a fellow DMC yes, but even those you are suppose to trust can surprise you." It was an honesty question. Toutatis did not give her loyalty or trust so easily. Everyone, with her at least, started off with some sort of level of trust. But it was their actions and her experiences with them after the initial meeting that raised or lowered it with her.

Wringing her hands lightly, Toutatis frowned. "I'm afraid I honestly don't know what the Court's entire expectations of me are...." She had to admit that at least. "I get that attacking a fellow Dark Mirror Senshi like that is probably heavily frowned upon I've really only been told the basics. I know nothing of the inner workings." Maybe it was that inexperience that hindered her. Maybe no. But she could not blame the Captain or Vice Captain for her short comings. Perhaps if she had inquired more she wouldn't feel so...out of the loop?

Ugh this sucked.

"Ok I guess. I think Aurora took more of the emotional and physical brunt of the whole ordeal." She sighed lightly. "Mostly I'm just upset and confused I suppose. Re-evaluating myself and I guess just looking for some guidance. No, I have not spoken to Requiem since. I'm not too sure how that would really go down."

There was no question that Remarque would offer whatever guidance he could to the senshi, though he took his time to listen to Toutatis' words. He'd come here not really knowing what to expect, and yet she wasn't throwing around insults or challenging him; all it seemed to be was a heat of the moment disagreement and instinct kicking in. Toutatis wasn't arguing with him, wasn't adamantly defending whatever stance she'd taken. She had admitted a mistake and was making an effort to improve herself. He couldn’t blame her for being confused or wanting guidance, nor could he see it necessary to berate or scold her for anything that had happened.

"Building trust can take a while," He agreed, stroking his chin. "…We ought to gather the whole Court more often, give you all some extra time to get to know each other, to bond."

…That could probably benefit the whole Court, old and new. Since he'd first joined, they'd always been painted as a family, and if they couldn't trust each other—didn't even know each other—they weren't meeting their own expectations.

Getting them all together might be a good idea to lay out expectations and elaborate on the inner workings, so the more he considered this, the more he liked the idea. "Aurora's got a concussion though, so that might have to wait a bit. Are there any questions you have that I can answer for you now about the workings of the Court or what we expect of you?" He figured Leto had imported on her the main goals—convert senshi and remove those that existed for the sheer purpose of hindering the Court's movement. But if there were questions left unanswered—by her, or anyone, it was certainly something they needed to address.

She was honestly glad that Remarque was taking the time to listen to what she was saying. To give input but not judge her harshly for her actions. Toutatis, though stubborn, knew there had been a mistake made. A mistake made by her. As much as she really hated to admit it, it had happened. And now it was time for her to own up, put her big girl panties on and deal with the situation.

"I think that would be a good idea Remarque." It would be a good idea for all of them really to get to know one another. Bonding and having a strong, trusting relationship with one another would be key to what they were doing. If they could not trust openly and implicitly then they were sure to fail. And really, Toutatis would like to get to know the others. She had met a few but certainly there were many others out there.

And it was hard to trust an unfamiliar face. No matter how friendly they seemed to be painted. It was the same in civilian life too. "I want to help Remarque. I want guidance and purpose. I feel like I'm just grasping in the darkness at invisible straws." She looked down at the open palms of her hands.

Toutatis frowned as he spoke of Aurora having a concussion. She had hoped her friend had fared better.

At that point and time she wasn't even sure as to what questions there were to ask. "I know what we do. What we have to do. Though perhaps I don't really understand why....? I get that the end goal is to convert the Order Senshi to our side but is that really all there is? And if we accomplish it what then? Do we all just...go home?" There had to be more to this than that. Was it really all that cut and dry?

Toutatis' compliance was soothing to Remarque; he didn't know what he'd expected in conversation with her, though she had not disappointed him. "The 'why' is what you make of it. We have a goal in mind, to save the senshi. Save ourselves. Save the people we care about on Earth. If there is anything this war has taught me, it's that there are greater powers at work than those we find on Earth. I'd like to know what's out there," he said, glancing up into the stars. "To know what's waiting for me. I don't believe in destiny or anything," he added, returning his gaze to her. "Life is what you make it, and you take from it what you can. If you have doubts about what we're doing, voice them. This is but the first step in Ares' plan."

If she had more planned after it, Remarque didn't really know. For now, he knew that they yet to achieve the first goal she had set in place for them. He'd have loved to know what the grand picture was, but for now, he was comfortable just gathering evidence and biding their time. They were still far too small in numbers if they planned to replenish the entire universe, and Earth had more charm than he could imagine. There were things on this planet he never wanted to leave behind, but neither had he any intention of abandoning the goals of the Court. Ares planned for great things. He had full intentions of achieving them.

"I assume there are many steps. It isn't that she doesn't trust us, I'm sure, but perhaps she doesn't want to overwhelm us. I understand that coming into this war in the first place can have a rather massive effect on one's life." Suspecting this might be something Toutatis had invested a fair amount of thought into, he prompted, "What would you do? With the power Ares has given you? If she didn't have a goal in mind for us."

It is what you make of it. Well, Toutatis was making a pretty big mess of it really. But she was trying to fix that. When he looked up to the sky she instinctively did so as well. She supposed he had a point. About the whole higher powers thing, though she had never really thought much about it. As far as she knew Ares was the higher power. Toutatis had yet to see or experience anything more than her.

When he spoke of not believing in destiny she had to quirk an eyebrow at him. "I find it odd that you do not believe in destiny and yet..." She gestured towards him with her hand. "How can being a Senshi not be destined for those who do become them?" Toutatis didn't believe that it was quite that random.

She was caught off guard by his question. Never having really thought about it before at least in depth anyway. "I would...." Toutatis played with her fingers idly as she thought.

What would she do?

Protect those she cared about? Well, that was an obvious answer. Anyone who had anybody they cared about could give that answer. While it was probably a commendable thought it just didn't seem like the right thing to say. "I'm not entirely sure to be purely honest, Remarque. I could say that I would try and protect those I care about but I kind of already do that. I could say gather energy for my own progression in power....but...I guess that doesn't really benefit anyone else besides me. It doesn't help as a whole." Her eyebrows furrowed.

Toutatis' response was reasonable response, and Remarque figured by the look on her face that she was thinking deeply about it. "It doesn't," he agreed, "Though there is nothing wrong with wanting to be stronger. It's a big question to ask, though. That's as good an answer as any, and you have more than enough time to think about it. If you come up with another answer, pitch it. This Court was never about just one person." Or, if it was, it wasn't any more. He'd spent more time with other members of the Court than he had with Ares—grown closer to them than he had with her. Their goals might have stemmed from her own devise, though Ares had only ever seemed to hold concern for all of the senshi. She had devoted her time to saving them. If there was anything selfish about that, Remarque couldn't figure it out. Unless you counted the rest of the Court doing all the grunt work while she tended to whatever her business was in Mirrorspace, but this didn't exactly seem like the best time to question Ares' practices. She provided them with mirrorwraiths and new recruits; if that didn't count as pulling her weight, he wasn't sure what did. "And you shouldn't ever have to feel like you're alone in it. If you have a doubt, a concern, voice it. I don't think it's your 'destiny' to sit by passively and watch the world work around you. You seem more the type to inject yourself into a situation and make it your own, right?"

He couldn’t necessarily confirm it, but in a situation where there was trouble, she had abandoned reason and acted in the way she felt appropriate. "But then, maybe I've got a skewed impression of what destiny is or isn't. I don't believe in it because I refuse to think that my course is plotted out for me. Having a fate, a destiny, implies that my story's already been written. That I'm just a leaf in the river, floating downstream on someone else's course. Would you rather believe that you're a pawn being played or that you're the one in control of your life? Would you rather be a pawn or craft your own path?"

Yayoi

She nodded and listened. Taking in everything that he said. Filing it all away for later when she would have more time to sit down and think about it all.

Once she figured out her own path.

His reasoning was understandable and actually quite agreeable. She could see why he didn't believe in it. But there always seemed to be grey areas. Being destined to be a Senshi didn't mean that everything you did as a Senshi was laid down in stone. You had to take it and make it what you wanted it to be. Do what you wanted to do. Within reason. "I would rather create my own path than be some dispensable game piece."

Biting her bottom lip, it would be something she would need to seriously consider. What to do. How to move forward. At the present time it was not clear, her head was still reeling a bit from recent events and there were other things she needed to do before she could take any steps forward. Or perhaps they were some of the steps she needed to take to get any head way.

"I appreciate you checking up on me Remarque. And you have given me a lot to think about and consider. I will take my leave if we are done since it is late and I'm sure neither of us want to be standing around here in the cold flapping out gums." A small smile came to her lips.

In many ways, Remarque disliked those willing to go with the flow. Sheep were weak. There shouldn't be any sheep within the Dark Mirror Court. They were pioneers—and it was up to them to reform the whole of the White Moon Court.

Toutatis' response greatly satisfied him, so he offered her a brief smile and ducked his head lightly. He definitely did not want to be in the cold for any longer than he had to, so if things were worked out, he had absolutely no issue taking his leave.

Especially since he still had so much more to do tonight.

"All right. Well, you take care of yourself, Toutatis. If anything else comes up, you let me know. I'll be there to help out with any issues you might happen upon. Have a good night, get yourself warmed up, rested up. I'll see you around," he said, and raised a hand in a simple wave before turning and letting the girl on her way.
