■Residence: Lived a nautical life aboard the Icelandia, one of the many vessels which is home to the roving Serpent People.
■(One) Power: Illusion. Nemi has the ability to trick people into seeing what she wants them to see. To a degree. Her domain is typically objects smaller than the average housecat. The larger her illusion, the less detailed it can be. For instance, making you think you saw a person may require that you saw him or her out of the corner of your eye for only a moment. However, she could conjure up a small animal (like a mouse) that seems very realistic to the eye in the palm of her hand. The illusions only affect sight, so someone blind would not experience anything. The mouse would have no mass, no scent, produce no sound. To reinforce her 'talent' Nemi has learned to very effectively throw her voice and mimic sounds, however.
■General Appearance: Humanoid with feathers mixed into her hair. The feathers should continue down to the back of her neck in ruff. She can also have some slight scaling at the corners of her eyes and moving to frame the feathers. They run all the way down her spine, unlike the feathers. The scales and feathers should be similar to her hair and skin in color-- primarily white and gold with streaks of silver.
■Short Bio: Nemi seems lackadaisical almost to the extreme. It isn't because she's lazy or careless so much as she wants to people to think she is. As an only child, her parents put too much stock in her and she resented it. Thus, she presents a sleepy, lazy, careless exterior. It's almost theatrical in exaggeration, but she's been this way for years, so she hardly notices. There is a certain lack of care toward others, as well. She's an inherently self-involved being.
■History: Nemi wasn't always an only child, but life on the sea is hard on infants. Two of her siblings died before they were three months and one at five years. She remembers the latter, an older brother she fondly called Izzy. Her family doesn't really talk about him, instead focusing energy on her. This includes her uncles and aunts. She has only four cousins, all of whom are very close in age (her year was considered a lucky one), but only she was born under the Jaguar, the symbol of leadership in her family. Thus, the family expects more out of her than the others.
At around 10 she began to act overly sleepy all the time, sometimes "napping" for days on end. When questioned she would respond that she was sunbathing, as expected of a jaguar. When pressured to stay awake and interact, she'd defer to her older male cousin, Chantico. When forced to stay awake longer than she liked, Nemi would feign great illness until her family, afraid of losing another youth, backed of. Eventually the stopped expecting much of her, accepting Chantico as her surrogate.
■Morality / Ethics: Nemi is like Switzerland-- neutral. She doesn't like having an opinion on things and will talk around in circles at a very slow pace if people press her. However, she secretly has a strong sense of justice and will conspire against those who have committed wrongs toward her or those few who are close to her.

Her style is whatever is simplest and most comfortable while still looking alright on her. Cotton pants of tan or dark material (jeans are too stiff at first for her to like them) and long-sleeved shirts with pretty designs on them or slip-on gowns without many things to tie or restrict. She's partial to simple patterns and designs and earthy or sea tones.

She also loves sweets, though she has had a restricted diet her whole life and will go out of her way to get them, so far as to bribe her age-mates.

■Other Important Details: Nemi is based on a theory that the Quetzalcoatl (Aztec), Kukulkan (Mayan), Q'uq'umatz (K'iche' Maya) and similar Mesoamerican feathered serpent gods were a form of the same entity. In some stories these gods are people who come from the sea-- specifically a blond, bearded man with light eyes who brings civilization to the people. There are traces of both Norse and Mayan influence in Nemi's biography. While I have kept her culture very much Mayan, her appearance is basically Nordic. This includes her height. 5'2" was considered the average for female Vikings.
