I drink at least one cup of coffee every single day, and more often than not, I have as many as three cups (or more!). I actually go through withdrawal symptoms if I go more than 48 hours without coffee.
I don't exactly drink coffee to wake up. (Did you know that eating an apple can wake you up more than drinking a cup of coffee?) In fact, I can drink coffee late at night and never worry about it keeping me up.
Coffee comes with a huge list of pros and cons. Coffee drinkers are less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia. They have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes.
On the other hand, since I rarely drink black coffee, I am also drinking a lot of creamer at home/work as well as milk (always skim) and syrup (normally half the number of pumps the recipe calls for) when I get a drink from a coffeehouse.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can ween myself off coffee? (Not completely, just to the point where I can have a cup once a day or every other day without getting headaches.) Should I even worry or is it a harmless "addiction"?

Chill it is a harmless addiction.it is not like you are drinking like 2 pots a day. So in my opinion you are fine for the amount you are drinking now.
And I am pretty sure we all have something like that. Like mine is I can go with a couple cans of Coke, or I get headaches. So don't worry about it so much. A couple cup of coffee is not hurt you.

I've actually been drinking coffee since I was seven. So.. a decade and a half of coffee? Doesn't help with the short jokes, though. [I'm not even 5'3".] Because, you know, they say coffee makes you short.

I have never, heard the wives tail before. But I don't think there is anything to back up "That coffee makes you short". I can I have short joke told about me. (I'm 6'1") So I can't really say I have experience on how to deal with them. But it is never fun being made fun of. And don't let them get to you. You are who you are, and nobody can change that. You are perfect just the way you are. ^_^

Lady Kira X Vanilla bean fraps with whip cream emotion_drool Fraps can also be so addicting. So sweet! ...And yet, so unbelievably unhealthy.
Since this is the health subforum and I was a certified barista for several years, here's a few tips on how to cut down on the calories:
- Most coffeehouse chains have a light/fat free base for blended drinks, which are made with skim milk and sugar-free syrup or powder - Ask for half the pumps of syrup--it will still be plenty sweet! - See if the flavor you want comes in sugar free - Skip the whip cream... or see if they have a fat free can

I used to get a coffee and bagel from Starbucks every morning. Now I drink tea and eat waffles...
