What I'm getting from this is that in this world, there are thousands of people all on life support for what's being said to be more than half a year because they literally can't use their brains to control their bodies.
That would suck a**. I wonder how many hospitals they'd need to fill.
I take it back. "Nearly two years". On top of thousands of people in what's basically a coma. That's gotta be hell on the world's medical facilities.

They'd probably have to arrange a few make-shift hospitals solely for these guys. The incident did affect a rather big portion of Japan, and I doubt they'd have enough space in the hospitals for all who'd need it in some areas. The situation would've probably sucked even more if the government didn't arrange anything to help keeping them alive.

In most online games, you get a chance to recover after being disarmed. Some of these games may require you to use a recovering item (a potion or a piece of meat) for the more literal situations.

Maybe they are keeping them alive to harvest their sperm/eggs so that they can keep up the genetic diversity of the population. Seeing as how them being in a coma and stuff kinda stops them reproducing *has no idea what everyone is talking about but decides to give her 2 cents anyway*

For instance, one of the main characters is in trouble, she'll be forced to forget her lover and marry someone
