Destiny City Ice Palace was one of Anandi's favorite places to be in the winter months. She could be bundled up to the brim in fluff and fur and could don her skates and work some muscles for a few hours and none of it seemed like work. It was always so much fun to feel the cold wind in her hair, like on the home star of Polaris.
Maybe that's why she enjoyed ice skating so much?
Either way, Anandi couldn't help but do a loop or two on the ice rink while waiting for Miss Candice. They had met earlier, as powered individuals fighting a terrible youma, and they had agreed to meet here as civilians for the first time. Would she like the ice rink? They had snow cones and hot food and good music! What wasn't to like? Anandi giggled and did another twirl. She attributed some of her ability on the ice to her past on Polaris but part of her wanted to think it was all her own doing.

Candice had spent the better part of the morning pacifying her dog Cotton. The dog wanted out, but since the meeting place was an ice rink, Candice doubted that they'd allow the little thing in, and she'd rather have Cotton wreak havoc at home instead of being cold outside. She was not about to let her dog freeze to death. There was much whining when Candice had left, but eventually the dog had settled in a nice spot on Candice's bed where there were extra blankets for extreme comfort. Candice had peeked behind the door before she had left and saw the dog cuddling the blankets happily.
"Silly little one... You're easier than you think to please." She couldn't help but wear a warm smile, in part due to Cotton and her cuteness and the other part was meeting Sutai as a civilian. Well, as Anandi.
She slowly walked her way into the city to the Ice Palace. There was more than one incident where she had passed it, but had never gone in, both because she never had the time and even if she had the time, she was scared, being someone that didn't know how to ice skate. With a deep breath, Candice pushed open the doors and walked into the ice rink.
The first thing she noticed was the chill. It was already cold outside, but with the rink in an enclosed space, it was even colder. At first, Candice couldn't think of where to find Anandi, but if she made the meeting place at an ice rink, she had to be a skater. Right...?
Candice made her way to the ice rink, watching all of the people skating past the point she stared at. When she finally approached the railing, she looked out at the people and yelled out. "Anandi... Where are you?"

Anandi was busy with her third lap around the rink when she heard her name. There weren't too many people in the rink at this time of day, which is exactly why she picked this time of day. Ah, that nice blonde lady must be Miss Tian! With a merry melody in her head and happiness in her heart, Anandi slowed to a stop next to the spot where Candice stood out. "I'm right heeeeeere~" she sang during her approach. "I am sorry, I just got so excited that I had to get some skates and see how everything was out here. They just smoothed out the ice so it's very nice! I brought extra money to rent some skates and grab lunch too!" She was so excited that she nearly forgot to ask something. "Oh Miss Candice... have you been skating before?" There was a small child and his mother were in a designated spot in the center of the rink marked with a wide red line. He was very small, maybe four year old and was struggling with his mother holding his hands and skating in front of him to assist. He seemed quite happy. "It's very cold at first but once you start moving, you heat up very quickly! That's why professionals wear little clothing. You need to be able to sweat if you're doing all the tricks. I cannot do tricks, not like jumping, but I can go backwards!" Anandi giggled. She wasn't wearing anything fancy for their outing - just a powder blue thin sweater and khakis. "I rented a locker if you want to put your purse and things in it!"

Candice's head looked around for the person that called out to her and was surprised she couldn't tell that they were Sutai in the first place. The general hairstyle was the same. She felt a little bit stupid, but that was the power of the magic that powered them up right? Else it would seem that people should be easy to place...
"It's nice to meet you, Anandi!" Her face was flushed a little bit, somewhat embarrassed, but happy none the less. "In this form anyways," she added with a whisper.
When Anandi asked Candice about ice skating, Candice flushed even further. "Well, no. I haven't really had the chance to try." Other than fencing, Candice wasn't much of a 'sport' person at all. She was a bit envious whenever she saw ice skating on her TV, but never had the guts to try it. "I've... Never even been on roller skates before. I think it got harder for me since I grew older and well... The fear of getting hurt was stronger."
She laughed at herself half-heartedly. "I've been branching out though, to get myself more physically active, so I'm more than willing to try!" At least, Candice thought she was willing. "If anything, I can just sit on the sidelines and watch you skate? You're very graceful on that ice, even if you can't do tricks."

Anandi shook her head vehemently. "Oh no no, you should try at least once! I will teach you if you're willing to try! It doesn't hurt that bad. It's just like falling off a bike and onto the ground, I suppose. There isn't anything to be afraid of. Nobody is going to assault you with a blade like fencing~" Not that Anandi knew much about fencing. All she knew was that people wore masks and poked at each other with what looked like swords. And they were very graceful. Perhaps the two could be intertwined? "Shall we get you some skates? Would you be willing to do a slow lap with me? I will teach you~ We will go slowly so you won't get overwhelmed. Is that okay?" The Indian girl was quite enthused about this. She'd never been able to teach someone something like this before, and idly wondered if her princess would be proud of her. She thought Miss Candice (and therefore, Miss Tian!) would make an excellent Shepherd. She had the right attitude and all the heart in the world!

Candice was still a little bit reluctant, but she was out here today to have fun right? Well, besides meeting Anandi, of course. She rummaged through the purse hanging from her shoulders and pulled out her wallet, making sure she would have enough money for this and food after. Candice smiled and responded. "Okay.. I'll give it a try, for you!"
"Though I'm more afraid of slipping than anything." She said with a laugh. Usually when she was fencing, the rapiers were not sharp, and even then they wore suits to protect them. Sometimes there were stabs that would be felt, but nothing with lasting damage. "What if I broke my butt-bone or something?"
She was half trying to talk herself out of trying, half getting her mind ready to get on the ice. "It's decided then! You are now Teacher Anandi today." Candice said cheerfully. She pulled out the money needed to rent the skates. "I just go over there--" she said pointing at a stand "-- and tell them what size shoe I wear, right?"

Anandi's head shook and her hands fluttered to gently pat Candice's wallet away. "No no no, I took care of that, okay? We just go to the counter and get your skates and we'll be on our way~" She giggled. She wasn't often able to buy a few nice things or a fun activity or two with friends. Mama was quite proud that Anandi was making more friends now that she was older. Candice's concerns were well placed and Anandi nodded in return. "Do not worry! I'll pull on you to make sure you don't slip but I can't imagine you'd fall very hard. I mean, certainly not hard enough to break anything! We're not doing jumps or any of that." While Anandi had never suffered a broken bone herself while skating, she assumed such things were possible if one fell hard enough and from a high enough distance. Which was icky. Stepping up off the ice and onto the flooring where her blonde companion stood, Anandi gently took up her hand to lead her to the stall where skates were handed out. "Yes indeed, Miss Candice! Ice skates are pretty much your same shoe size and they lace up like sneakers, see?" Anandi lifted a leg to show her companion, a delightful smile on her face. "And when we are done trying this, I would like to try fencing if you wouldn't mind teaching me?"

"Oh... You did? You really didn't have to!" Candice frowned, just slightly. She knew she was a big spender and sometimes she would be strapped on cash, but it was not often that she would let others pay for her. Though it seemed like Anandi had already done so. "of course, I'm very thankful though!"'
Anandi was more used to ice skating, so Candice nodded in agreement. Though new friends, Candice trusted her judgement and with that, had faith that she wouldn't get hurt.
"Oh! Okay, I think I can do that." Candice said as she followed Anandi to where the rentals were. She talked to the person working at the booth and got her skates. They walked to a bench and Candice put on her skates. It took a little longer than she expected, but they were on and eventually laced up. Once Candice felt like they were tight enough to stand on, she stood up.
She definitely couldn't say they were the most comfortable thing she was in, but it was interesting nonetheless. The floor she was standing on was a bit rubbery which helped her stand up albeit her feet being slightly cocked to the side. "Okay... I think I'm ready!"
Candice's attention sparked when Anandi mentioned teaching her how to fence. It was a definite possibility! It wasn't something she had taught anyone before, but she could. At least... She thought she could. "I've always been better teaching people about Biology and Chemistry," she told Anandi, sort of apologetically. "I... Feel like I'm good at fencing, but it was something that I never had to teach people before, and I'm not sure if I could. I would try though!"

"Oh I would be very excited to try fencing! I think it could help me very much in... well... you know." Anandi winked at her friend and smiled. Candice would know what she was talking about. Even though Anandi wasn't a fighter, being able to defend herself was very important to her survival. She wanted to grow and become stronger to protect others and she wanted to see Candice grow in the same way. Anandi reached down for the blonde's hands to lead her to the rink. "Are you ready, Miss Candice? We will take it very slow and we'll go in the middle, right there! That's the practice area." Looking over her shoulder, Anandi held out her hands to Candice to use as a crutch for balance. Walking in ice skates was a very new experience to her most likely! They slowly inched to the edge of the rink and Anandi stepped down onto the ice. Oftentimes she felt more at home on the ice than anywhere else. Anandi hoped she could share that love with Candice. "Nice and slow and don't feel rushed! People will get out of our way~"

Candice laughed a little bit at the wink. She couldn't help but wonder who else was 'powered', even just in this ice rink a lone. "Haha. It would be fun either way," she said with a smile.
She took Anandi's hand as the girl reached for it. They slowly walked to the rink together. Candice could feel a little bit of strain on her ankle since the blade of the skates made her feet angle a bit; it wasn't super painful, but Candice just preferred being flat on the floor. She wasn't even a frequent wearer of heels.
"I- I think I'm ready," she said as confident as she was ever going to feel. Anandi was easily on the ice, but even Candice's first foot on the ice made he feel uneasy. Although she knew that Anandi's hand was there for support, she tried her best to help herself, keeping her other hand out to the side with balance as well as bending her knees a bit.
Candice was busy looking at her feet as well as Anandi's movements as she dragged her feet over the ice. She could feel a breeze of air every so often as another person zoomed past her. "I-I'm. Not-so... Sure. About- This!" Candice could feel her whole body shaking as she tried to skate on the ice.
At least she hadn't fallen. Yet.

"You will do fine, Miss Candice! Think of it like roller skating and I am here! So do not worry, okay?" The people around them saw that Candice was a beginner and gave them a wide berth - such was the courtesy of ice skaters. Anandi giggled and continued her slow backwards skate towards the practice area in the middle of the rink. "Slow and steady! It's more like sliding than it is walking. You use your inner calves and ankles to push you and the skates do the rest!" She remembered when her mother first taught her. She would say the same American phrase - it was like riding a bike. Once you learn, you never forget. Now Anandi had never ridden a bike before but she understood the principle. There had been a period of three years when she didn't skate and when she put them back on and stepped on the ice, it was like she never stopped. Muscle memory or some such thing. "You are doing fine, Miss Candice! I will not let you fall!"

"I haven't roller skated before either," Candice said with a laugh, her adrenalin rush making her seem to enjoy being on the ice a little bit more. She was starting to relax, just a little bit, but new things were always scary, right?
Candice listened to Anandi speak and tried to follow her instructions. She watched her feet and tried to glide more than walk and managed to succeed in gliding just an inch or two every five or so steps. "I think I managed to glide a few times!" There was some pride in her voice, even though Candice knew that it was a small achievement for some people.
Slowly but surely, Candice had made it to the center of the ice. Her legs and feet were shaking under her, still nervous, but she tried to stand up a little bit more straight and sighed with relief. "Haha! I guess I managed to get here without falling!"
With that, her confidence led her to start shaking in her skates. Candice could feel a fall coming, but she held on tight to Anandi's hand and tried to keep her balance but...Lucifer Force (( Muahaha! You're free to manipulate Candice to if she falls or not 8D; ))

Anandi giggled happily. "See! You are doing very well!" Seeing Candice trying her best made the Indian girl more determined to do her best as well! As they made their way about the center ring, people around them gave them a wide berth for practicing. "It is more like sliding than walking. Mama used to compare it to buttering toast but that is silly! She would say, your skates are the knife with the butter and the ice is the toast, and you sway back and forth..." Anandi explained, imitating her mother's much harsher Indian accent. In the middle of the explanation, Candice suddenly started swaying and falling backwards. With a squeak, Anandi locked her knees together and pulled hard on the other girl's wrists. In the end, Candice barely made it still standing, her bottom hovering close to the ice. "Whew!" wheezed her companion with a lighthearted smile. "It is okay! That does not count as a fall! Now we must practice more with the gliding! Push outward with your ankles, Miss Candice! That will give you forward momentum~" A couple yanks and the blonde was back on her feet, good as new!

Candice could feel her heart racing as she almost fell, but was glad that Anandi was quick enough to keep her from falling completely. She let out a hearty laugh and grinned at Anandi. "Nice save! That would have been a bad fall."
Well, Candice knew that the fall would probably cause her to have some bruising and would hurt for a while, but it definitely wouldn't be the end of the world. Candice also realized that she missed part of what Anandi had said and felt bad. "I'm sorry... I think I missed some stuff you said. I remember... Butter.. Toast? I will try the gliding some more though.."
She wasn't sure how long it took her to move along the ice, but she then thought... "Oh my goodness.. Are you hungry? Am I really moving this slow...?" Candice really hoped that she wasn't being self centered with all of this. She knew that Anandi was helping her... But she needed to think of Anandi too!

The Indian girl smiled and before she could answer, her stomach growled. She giggled, blushing. "I would love some lunch! And I'm sure you wouldn't mind a break. Let's get you back on solid ground for some tasty food, miss Candice!" Then Anandi took the lead, guiding Candice gently back to the edge of the rink where she could step up and find a seat to take her ice skates off. The food stand nearby was selling all sorts of standard rink fare - burgers and fries, hot dogs, pizza. The all-American favorites. Anandi smiled and licked her lips just from the smell alone. "I do love burgers very much!" she explained, sitting down next to Candice. She didn't untie her skates - Anandi felt as much as home in them as she did in any other shoes. "What would you like to get, Miss Candice? You've been doing a great job out there so far! Do you like it? Is it fun?" Anandi smiled at her. "...thank you for coming out to meet me, Miss Candice. I really appreciate it. Mama was so happy to find out I was meeting a friend here!"
