Canon Relationships --

As we mentioned previously it is preposterous to think that at some point in your character's past life you did not meet or interact with a princess of a Solar planet. However for obvious reasons that having Pluto's secret lover or Mercury's super best friend would cause conflict we are going to be limiting these to a point and have developed a mechanic by which you will decide these relationships.

These relationships are totally optional. If you wish for your character to have known no canon characters then that is fine with us. This is purely for those people who wish to have had known the canon characters so that they might start to have memories of them, something very important for a few of our players!

There are nine canon princesses which you may have a relationship with. They are the princesses of the main planets. Princess Serenity is always going to be one of your unknown relationships. She is too central a figure resulting in too much canon around her to allow us to bend things to fit in our shop characters.

If you are a knight you may also factor in Prince Endymion and the Four Generals (Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, Kunzite) and you will simply not know as many princesses.

We realize that not everyone is versed in canon and as such have provided articles that should give you a rough overview of the type of personality associated with each character. Feel free to read up on them, educate yourselves about the canon, and have fun with this! Canon for the shop is generally taken from the manga.

How To Determine --

Each character no matter what their powered role (senshi, knight, cat) may know no more than six canon characters. There will be three special relationships where you have known this person enough to form a special relationship (positive, negative, political) and three neutral relationships. The rest of the canon characters you will have never encountered before in your life but maybe you could point them out in a room. You will get to choose which canons have which relationships but you cannot choose the exact nature of the relationship. The exception to this is Princess Serenity as mentioned above; she will always be one of your unknowns.

Your character may have three special relationships with three canon characters of their choice: a positive, a negative, and a political. None of these may be mutually romantic relationships. You are welcome to lust after every senshi in existence but to keep canon somewhat intact the senshi princesses are best friends with each other and Princess Serenity, the generals are best friends with Endymion, and their romantic lives are mysteries except for Serenity and Endymion.

Example Determination

Akina Tokuwa rolls three 6-sided dice.

Akina Tokuwa has rolled a 2, 4, and 3!

Seeing her rolls and thinking about her character, Akina has decided that Eternal Sailor Taranis has a:

1) Positive Relationship = Princess Jupiter
2) Negative Relationship = Princess Venus
3) Political Relationship = Princess Uranus

Neutral: Princess Pluto, Mars, and Mercury.

Remaining: Princess Serenity, Saturn, Neptune, Prince Endymion, Four Generals

Relationship Rubric --

Each number you roll determines the type of relationship you have in the order you have rolled it. Akina rolled a 2, 4, and 3 in that order making the first number your positive relationship, the second your negative relationship, and the third your political relationship. The rubric is as follows:

POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP

1 - Good Standing -- You know each other really well. Not quite confidantes but friend is a comfortable word you both might use without hesitation. You are in great political and social standing with this character.
2 - Former Connection -- Once you interacted frequently but not so much as time has passed. Nonetheless your former connection has you in good political and social standing with this character.
3 - Moderate Standing -- You know each other well enough to use the word friend but this is not close enough to perhaps have shared many secrets. You are in moderate/good political and social standing with this character.
4 - Casual Standing -- There is clearly a connection between you and this character but it is perhaps not very well developed. You're comfortable in each other's company but are perhaps still learning how to be truly friendly. You are in decent political and social standing with this character.
5 - Fresh Connection -- You are still working to form a connection between you and this character beyond the surface level of everyday life. Things are not quite comfortable but you are still in positive political and social standing with this character.
6 - Wild Card -- Congratulations, you have won the wild card. Pick one of the above and write a backstory.

NEGATIVE RELATIONSHIP

1 - Former Positive Connection -- Something happened between you and this character that makes it very hard for you to be around them due to the former connection you had. This cannot be a romantic connection unless it was unrequited. Because of this fallout you are in strong negative political and social standing with this character.
2 - Difference of Thought -- There is some kind of difference that prevents you and this character from being on friendly terms or even being able to comfortable interact. You are in uncomfortable political and social standing with this character.
3 - Lack of Respect -- There exists between you and this character a lack of mutual respect. You are in moderately negative political and social standing with this character.
4 - Civil Connection -- Though you and this character are in moderate negative standing both politically and socially you can work together if the situation calls for it.
5 - Minor Differences -- You and this character do not particularly enjoy your interactions but they are not entirely impossible. You are in minor negative political and social standing with this character.
6 - Wild Card -- Congratulations, you have won the wild card. Pick one of the above and write a backstory.

POLITICAL RELATIONSHIP

1 - Physical Alliance -- There exists a physical alliance between their family and yours where one member of your family married into theirs. Perhaps there is even talk of you being the one to marry into their family.
2 - Partners in Trade -- This planet has something you want and your planet has something they want. You have strong commercial ties to this planet and are allies.
3 - Comrades and Allies -- Though you do not have a physical alliance or a trade agreement you still are on friendly terms with this planet and enjoy mutual goodwill.
4 - New Alliance -- For the first time you and this planet are working towards mutual goodwill. Perhaps you have exchanged ambassadors and for the first time there is an embassy on your planet so that you might interact.
5 - Uneasy Alliance -- Politically you and this planet might be on shaky ground due to some differences, but you are working things out to benefit the both of you.
6 - Wild Card -- Congratulations, you have won the wild card. Pick one of the above and write a backstory.

Rubric Results

Princess Jupiter - 2 - Former Connection

Akina rolled a 2 (Former Connection) so Taranis and Jupiter were great friends when they were kids.

BACKSTORY: Taranis' mother was often at the Jovian court when he was young and being that he was destined to be the senshi, she thought it would be good to take him along. Young Princess Jupiter was thusly introduced to him and they hit it off pretty well, climbing trees and racing through parks together. Unfortunately as they aged their senshi duties got in the way so after age eight they only ever saw each other in an official capacity.

Princess Venus - 4 - Civil Connection

A 4 (Civil Connection) was rolled so Princess Venus and Taranis really can't stand each other...but realize that sometimes you just have to put a good show on.

BACKSTORY: Princess Venus is way too full of herself, if you ask Sailor Taranis. She thinks she's the goddess of love, the most beautiful thing in the galaxy, but really he just thinks Venus is a shallow airhead who probably would die if you took her mirror away. Because he doesn't really hide this, Venus herself is not fond of him as well, though they tend to hide it unless forced to spend time alone together in a room.

Princess Uranus - 3 - Comrades and Allies

3 makes them Comrades and Allies.

BACKSTORY: Because Taranis and Uranus have very similar climates they were able to share a lot of useful information back and forth that benefited both of these countries greatly. Taranis' treasure troves of information were ideal for a nomadic people such as those that lived on Uranus. They were able to store things for that planet that could not otherwise be kept safe amongst the roving tribes.

Though we do make you roll to determine the nature of the relationship the actual circumstances are up to you and your character as to how they work out. We are aware that some of you do not wish your character to have your feelings predetermined towards a canon character so we've provided options when it comes to the stronger positive and negative feelings. Get creative!

Roll Documentation and Backstories --

Every roll and the results must be documented in this thread here along with a short backstory as to what exactly this relationship will be like when you RP it or reference it. You'll have noticed above that we wrote very short blurbs that are generally what we're looking for when we say that we want you to summarize up a backstory for us. Some things to keep in mind for this are:

This is a summary not the full listing with every detail of their history. It touches on the circumstances of the relationship, giving us an idea of how Jupiter and Taranis became childhood friends, why Taranis and Venus don't get along, and how the political dynamic works between Uranus and her ally.
You should not be posting anything longer than 200 words. Our examples above are less than 100 words but we understand some people just have to be verbose. If it's longer you will have to scale it back.
Please make sure to date the post so that we know if it is completed or still in progress of being edited to fit. This will help everyone more cohesively use the system.
This does not mean you cannot expound on this relationship in your roleplays, solos, anything you choose to do with this relationship. You may absolutely feel free to be as verbose as you would like in your own threads! These backstory blurbs are just so that we are aware of how everyone fits into the big picture.
You may not roleplay any relationship with a canon that you have not rolled/assigned. If your roll says that you are casual friends, frenemies, and comrades with the three canons you have chosen you cannot say that at some point there was some kind of romantic involvement. You are as bound by the backstory as you are your rolls so please be aware of that if we find you playing something that does not mesh with your roll or backstory we will ask you to fix it.

We can tell who is deleting posts and where so when you roll, you are bound by those rolls. You may edit in later who you are fitting each relationship to and the backstories, but you may not edit your roll or delete your post. We will simply bar you from having any relationships with the canons at all if you cannot abide by our system.
