Melvin was back in the library, back to his old distraction about Halloween Legend Geography, and was researching the Titan's labyrinth that he and Jerry had gone through before. It wasn't that complex, but they hadn't gone far and he expected to encounter more problems further in the maze.

If he could find maybe a secret password or just a easy way to not get booted out, then he might stand a chance.

Leon had heard about these stories in the hall. The whispered words of individuals taking leave to search of ancient places for trinkets that could aid them in their duties. Most of the discussions he overheard dealt with a complete failure, but there were some talks. Hushed conversations that revealed a glimpse of an item or two tucked away in sleeves or in heavily wrapped parcels.

It took some time, some delicate thought on the process as he tried to stand still for minutes on end, half the time on one foot, over the possibilities of getting such an item. it was compelling, he gave it that. The allure of having something unique that could aid him in survival did stir interest in the life trainee.

Before he could even charge into such a place, he had to find one. There were tomes of books on locations in the life labs library, but pouring through the text could take weeks, months even. Still, the hunter had a look of hopeful determination as he walked into the quiet hall, stirring the dust that gathered on a few hardcovers as he walked over to the section dedicated to the study of all that was Halloween.

He didn't expect the appearance of one Melvin, rustling his way past page after page. Skidding to a stop in front of the scientist, he was almost sure Melvin would say the same of him. "Greetings, Melvin. Here to do some light reading?"

Awkward jokes were always good to break the ice after doing one's dish cleaning.

Melvin had not been particularly happy to see Leon after the man had done most of HIS dishes during Thanksgiving, giving him nothing to do but get drunk. For that, he also blamed his terrible hangover the day after on him as well. The joke wasn't well received as he looked up from a pile of books and an open map beside him.

"You could say that." He said, flipping a page. "Following up on artifacts." He informed him, having already been to two sites in the past few weeks with Jerry. The man seemed to be taking a few things hard and so Melvin decided to just look into things himself. "What are you up to?"

Leon didn't want to pester Melvin over not saying hello properly, he just took it as a sign that the newer hunter trainee was still grumpy over his cleaning frenzy. The boxer craned his neck at the unrolled parchment from his angle at the table, peering at the map and the geography of the area is surveyed. "Trying to begin my search on artifacts as well." he rumbled out.

The book in his hand was still waiting to be opened as he placed it on the table across from the blonde gunner. "Mind if i join you here?" Leon asked tentatively, hovering over the chair and still holding onto the notepad and pen in grasp.

Serious work was serious after all. "I've been trying to gather intel on some Labyrinth that I overheard about. Plus you seem to have a lot of the texts I was planning on browsing through."

Sharing is caring, Melvin.

"Just starting?" Melvin said with a smug smirk. "I've already been to two of the places. Helped Jerry find his own artifact. We just went to the labyrinth together about a week back. It's just as bad as the island where we first visited. Certainly a lot of shadow guards." He said, puffing at his own knowledge that, considering he was a trainee, gave him the rare opportunity to know more than a senior hunter.

"It's a lot of portal hopping to find the place. The Weeping Forest likes to play games." He clicked the red pen in his hand, checking over a few things. "Jerry and I didn't do so great in the Labyrinth last time. It's very....confined." And dark. He didn't like that part.

His eyes pulled up from the book he was scanning. "Are you going with a partner? You know you can't do this sort of thing alone, right?"

Leon didn't say much as Melvin began to give some details on his own adventure. The pen was scribbling little details as he looked from the paper and back to Melvin. "Nope, my own training and research keeps me pretty occupied. Other than the missions that is." he said dejectedly.

Being on call for Clarice was also the other bad part that didn't need to be mentioned. "Do tell Melvin. So its pretty perilous huh?" he asked again, eyes brimming with curiosity as he tried his best to interview the rookie.

He took the chance between the pause of details to flip a page and scan it for info and blinked awkwardly at his study buddy. "Oh. Its not wise to go alone, I guess. I didn't think about that." he uttered unashamed by his error.

Until he looked at Melvin from the corner of his eyes and tried to put on his best puppy face. "You need someone to go with you?"

His puppy face looked more like this. >:C

Melvin leaned away from the face Leon was giving him, which looked more like the man was going to punch him while watching a sad movie. Melvin wondered if reading was making the man's head hurt. However, he did say what he liked to hear. Volunteering.

"Jerry and I went together and he did the firing while I defending. You meet shadows very quickly when you enter and there are a lot of traps. When the place comes crumbling down, it's good to have someone to grab you last minute if you are indisposed." Like he was when he was a minipet.

Closing the book, he looked at Leon. Jerry was rather depressed lately and Melvin was still itching for his own artifact. "If you want to come with me, I wouldn't mind." He wasn't going to say he needed anyone.

"I can show you where to find this place."

That was all Leon needed to hear.

The book was closed shut in a heartbeat with a heavy thud and the thinner hunter may have found himself in one friendly, innocent headlock. "Well then what are we waiting for lets go!" he declared joyously.

and tried to drag Melvin out of the library. "We shall have a grand old time, adventuring and fighting and looking at history." yes.

fun. fun. fun. fun.

The playful grasp was met with a yelp, the Lifer instantly tense by the direct touching, not to mention being slightly bent over and dragged out of his seat. "I have to put those books back - Can you not - we're doing this now? - I was going -" This was how it was before Melvin managedt o wiggle his way free and, more puffed than a flustered owl, fixed his sweater and jacket before bringing his bands out of his eyes and fixing his glasses.

"It's...It's this way." He stated, hoping the librarian on duty wouldn't hate him for all the books left out.

Out of the portal, they arrived in the Weeping Woods. Melvin set his watch. "We have less than 30 minutes to look. There are portals that show up through here every few minutes. You just have to walk around, find one, and step in. We're looking for dark hallway of wet stone lit by torches. Alright? Oh, and watch out for the elves in the other portals." Melvin went on ahead to start looking.

With some stroke of great luck, Melvin entered his first portal and instantly found the place. Stepping out quickly, he called over. "Leon. Already found it. Come over here and step in before it closes up and moves." And then Melvin stepped through the portal again.

The life hunter boxer was grinning wide behind Melvin as they walked out of the dusty library. "yep lets go go go!" he barreled loudly again, not even concerned in the least for the books. they'll still be there and theres always newer recruits for that.

Even thought he was the more senior hunter here, Melvin had experience with this, and as far as that went, he was fine with the blonde taking the lead. The boxer had seen the forest in missions past, the watch thing did catch his interest as he set his own pocketwatch for 30 mins.

"So we're portal hopping huh?" he asked mostly to himself as Melvin went to go see what was behind portal number one. and the shocked face he had on with the lucky bingo caught him off guard as he tumbled through the vortex in the new area.

"Nice call Melv." he assured him, giving the guy a pat on the shoulder and tried his very best not to gawk at the structure. "But where should we go from here?"
