What do you mean by "moves ten times faster"?
The way I interpreted it was that the LGBTQ communities are more straightforward about being entitled to their rights and actually succeed in making themselves heard. I think that discrimination against a person's sexual preference gets more media attention than the common domestic violence and abuse as well.
I remember during my first year at college, the run down LGBTQ building was subjected to vandalism. They made a really huge fuss about it and during my last year of school, they built a new building in the center of campus. It was the most beautiful building at school and was labeled the student community center. But when you walk in, first thing you see is a large room labeled LGBTQ. The school pooled tons of money into this brand new building to encourage them that they shouldn't have to be ashamed of who they are. Great for them...but wish the school could've used some of that money toward enhancing our education. The theatre department needed some serious refurbishing and the design department needed a new laser cutter
