Huffing loudly by now, she only allowed herself to stop once they were at the barn doors, catching her breath as everyone gathered. Muffling herself against her own chest to try and stifle the noise, the owsla felt somewhat ashamed at her lack at being able to run as much as the others. No matter, if they met a pfeffa they'd be grateful for her bulk.
Once she was recovered Althea turned to her teammates, whispering to them as loudly as she dared.
"Here we are. Go quietly and carefully. Spread out and search for flay. Try not to wander too far though, you don't want to be alone if you run into trouble."
She then proceeded to squeeze her considerable bulk through the crack of the doors, trying not to let the hinges creak as she fumbled into the dark of the barn and moved away so the others might pass through.

Sandbur edged in behind Althea, keeping her head and body low. She scanned the dark corners of the barn and looked up to the rafters a moment, then edged towards a small side-turned crate. She jumped up ontop of it and peeked inside from a crack in the top, looking for elil or food.

Mud Flower had been honored to be taken onto Althea’s team. Even though she was sure it hadn’t been a deliberate act. She had run along behind her, a faithful shadow the whole way. She could hear the female before her breathing heavily, but she said nothing on it. They had reached the barn and a part of her was extremely nervous. She didn’t let that get to her however moving in after Sandbur, stopping off to the side to stand on her hind legs and listen. She gazed about carefully before stepping forward behind Althea and off to the side of Sandbur.
She gave a light nod to Althea as she passed her, body low to the ground and nose constantly wiggling. Her ears were swiveling around as she moved, her eyes taking a bit more time to adjust to the dim lighting. She was careful, moving only about three rabbit lengths away from Althea. She was close enough to help if need be or be helped if the need arose.

Coal followed the group of rabbits quietly. He'd been away from the warren for a couple months and he had to admit if felt good to be surrounded by others. Even if everyone did seem a little uncomfortable. Not that he really cared right now if they were being uncomfortable with his hlessi butt or the situation.
He followed Althea through the door and blinked to let his eyes adjust. He wasn't really sure if this was a good idea but he did want to help his warren. He sniffed, smelling for the precious flay. There were horses in here! Horses meant grain and apples and carrots! Yeah!

Lamb didn't start searching for flay right away. This place would be full of dangers- it absolutely reeked of other animals, and the scent of the large herbivores was overpowering. She followed the others into the barn and began to scout along the edges of the walls, taking note of places where either a pfeffa or a rabbit could hide. The upper story- the hay loft- would be inaccessible to them, but that didn't stop dangers from lurking above. She watched it carefully, looking for signs of movement and listening for rustling straw. A good sweep of the barn might save a life, if push came to shove.

It was go time, sitting up, nose twitching and his blue eyes scanning the area around where they were. Things seemed quiet as his team mates followed their leader. With an ear flick he followed the Owsla into the barn. It was strange here, new scents and sounds hit him like a large stone. Shaking his head, Talltale raised himself up on his hindpaws to get a better look around. Crouching low again, he headed around the edge towards the stalls, his ears flicking at the smallest of sounds. Sticking to the shadows, though his coat made him stand out, he kept his eyes open for Flayrah or elil. Despite the quiet, every muscle was tense, ready to string at a moments notice.

The marli waited for her eyes to adjust to the dim light as the others made their way into the barn. Sitting up tall she rotated her ears and listened all around, hearing the lowing of the large animals in their stalls. Horses, she knew. She could also smell sheep. The farm she spent her kittenhood on had reeked of them.
There was also the smell of rabbits, and not ones she recognized. Hay too, perhaps they'd find some dried flay-rah here.
Taking a few cautious steps forward, she sniffed a bit more before turning to look over the others.
"Careful with the large ones, don't get underfoot. Hoof. You understand."

Blackbirch kept watch as each of his team filed into the barn. His nose and ears set on high alert. Once all were in, he took a quick look around, making mental note of where things were, the scents around them and keeping check of random wild critters that may or may not emerge.
Once the last of the group was in the barn, Blackbirch slunk in, turning in place briefly to listen to Althea's command. In one swift nod, he whispered, "I'll stay by this opening and keep an eye on things outside. I'll thump if anything approaches."
His green eyes then shifted, head slipping back out into the open and peering left and right wearily. Ears were back in full alert and pivoted calmly yet frequently as his nose twitched towards every sound.

As Lamb's Ear continued to make her sweep of the barn, she heard one of the bucks talking to Althea. A guard at the door? Excellent idea. As she neared the door, she hopped up to the dark buck. He was almost invisible in the shadows.
"Hi? Excuse me," she whispered. "I'll keep this short. I'm Lamb's Ear, and I'm serving as a runner tonight. I don't think we've been introduced, but if you're keeping watch, we should communicate, especially because you'll be the first out. Do you think that if you see anything, you could drum the ground? I'd like to be able to tell the others that I'm not the only one who can help lead them to safety if something goes wrong."

Roserain (Got lucky on that one) Coal sniffed some and headed towards one of the horses stalls. He was sure he could smell a discarded something on the floor. Something good. And there it was! A discarded carrot! He wiggled happily and then picked it up. He'd done good. Real good.

Talltale sat up for a moment as Althea gave a warning about watching out for the larger animals. Looking up from where he was seated, he watched the twitching tails from the row of stalls. Ears laying back, he edged into the first stall he came to. Keeping to the edge, away from the hooves. Nose sniffing the ground and walls of the stalls, he moved further in. Raising himself onto his hindlegs as he drew closer to the feed bins. All the while, he kept his eyes open for trouble.

Lamb wasn't completely satisfied that there were no enemies about, but she also knew that she needed to help look for flay, too. She investigated the area under the hay loft. That way she could look for things that had dropped and watch for pfeffa all at once.
