Altar of the Old Gods: Quest
gaia_crown [ Setting and Rules: ]

The altar itself is on top of an extremely, extremely high mountain that needs to be scaled. This is where the Dungeon Master comes to play. The Dungeon Master will create a new thread. Now, they will roll stats for this expedition team:
- Roll 2 20-sided dice for each player. List the players ie: 1. Player 1, 2: player 2, etc. Just roll all the dice at once. This is the number of rounds they can take for each player. Also include your own character. Post this stat at the very first post ie: Player 1 has 5 stamina, player 2 has 10 etc.
- Now players can begin to RP. They start at the base of the mountain and must move upwards. Each ACTION they take is 1 stamina point. Once they have used up all allotted stamina points they can go no further/ have to leave the area.
- If their HP turns to 0 they cannot go any further as well.
- If a character runs out of stamina or HP, they must try again from Round 1!

gaia_crown [ Round 1: ]

- All players must roll a 6 sided dice. If any player rolls a 1 or 6, you have triggered a boss! The DM will be in charge of rping and keeping track of the boss's HP. The boss has 50/ 50 HP and does 5 auto damage every time it is attacked. You can attack it unlimited times within discretion. Attacks go as normal. The boss is shadow shaped, a remnant of the old world, noone can go any further until the boss is defeated. IF NOONE rolls a 1 or 6, or you have defeated the boss, you may proceed to round 2. If two players roll a 1 or 6, you now have two bosses... congratulations.
- This initial roll does not cost stamina!

gaia_crown [ Round 2: ]

- All players must now scale the hill. Roll 1d100.
- If you roll 85 or higher you have made it to the top! You're kind of amazing you know
- If you did NOT roll 85 or higher you still need to keep on climbing. Keep on climbing... away..... You need to continue rolling until you roll 85 or higher.
- For ever time you do not roll 85 or higher (each reroll), you must subtract one of your given stamina points. If you hit 0, you cannot go any further/ you dissipate/ pass out/ are worn out.
- If you hit 0 HP, you must start again from Round 1!
- If you made it past this round, you can proceed to round 3:

gaia_crown [ Round 3: ]

- You must now make it past the molten lava pits. This area is HIGHLY dangerous, stepping on a single wrong area can spell doom for the whole party.
- All players must roll 1d10. If any player rolls a 4 this is instant death/dissipation/ Fear shields are ZERO and you need to use pendant to retreat back home. Otherwise match your rolls to the results:
1: Instant death (just for you, return to Round 1)
2: Nothing happens
3: - 50% of your remaining HP
4: Instant death (for everyone, game over)
5: Nothing happens
6: Nothing happens
7: - 50% of your remaining HP
8: Nothing happens
9: -25% of your remaining HP
10: Instant death

- All players need to roll 3 times to make it to the next round EACH

gaia_crown [ Round 4: ]

- You finally make your way to the very top of the shrine. You see the statues of the old gods, several of them. However, the area is very unstable. Roll 1d12. This is the item you end up with, congratulations! This is now your item to keep! Match the correct roll of yours to the item, and read the results carefully!
- There is only one of EACH item so if you manage to claim the item in your quest, please come back to THIS THREAD to post the form below to claim that item. Make sure you also pick up its image HERE and read general instructions of use.
- Once again the max you can ever obtain period of these items per character is one status effect and one battle effect item throughout all the class C items.
- These are first come first serve that means if someone else has already posted here claiming that item, you cannot get it! Instead, you can look one number above or below the item and select that item instead. Ie: I roll a 1, but 1 is already claimed. I can look at 2 and claim that instead IF I can.
- New items, will be imported in once this list gets cleared up/ claimed almost all the way up.

1. The Acorn of Zeus: A seed from the tree symbolic to the God Zeus, it glows with a green yellow light, a small thunderbolt like crack running down the side.
Battle Effect: When thrown, the acorn shatters, creating a small paralyzing electric field that nullifies one target at the sacrifice of the user's own turn. Targets must be stated at the time of it’s use, and using the acorn counts as a turn in battle.

2. Hephaestus' Lucky Coin: A battered, worn coin, oozing mystical power despite it's tarnished appearance.
Status Effect : Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd, your face becomes so beautiful, so overwhelmingly beautiful... it sparkles... and hurts to look at because of its sheer beauty. If even it looks like someone mashed your face up with a blender and then mashed up again. It sends small scarelings screaming and crying the other direction (only lasts 1 IC hour, can be used once per 24 OOC hours)

3. Milk of Hera: A small, handheld jug of what smell like fresh milk made from clay carries an odd lettering on it. You can’t help but feel like it’s going to make you better somehow…

5. Laurels of Demeter: Golden laurels in the shape of wheat and grains seem ordinary at first, but once they rest upon your head, small stalks of grains grow here and their into your hair. Along with a single red poppy.
Battle effect: Upon witnessing an ally being harmed, you feel a need to protect them. Rolling 1d6, this represents how much damage two targets are defended from. Stacks with other defense rolls unless otherwise noted.

6. The Spearhead of Athena: A bronze spearhead, it’s actually rather simple. Smooth minus the few dents on the blade edges, it gives no signs that it’s anything but ordinary bronze spearhead aside from a small owl emblem on the base.
Battle effect: Holding the spears fills you with thoughts of heroism and courage, however unfound. It spurs you to battle, causing an additional +5 damage for ONE turn. Must be stated before rolling attack.

7. The Flame of Hestia: The flame rests in a small clay jar. If put into a new vessel, that is where it will stay. It does not burn flesh or any objects, not even undead.
Effect: The flame acts as water, poured out onto a surface it will illuminate the area. BE AWARE! If the flame falls into a vessel, such as a jar, bucket, anything that can be carried, it will have transferred ‘source’. no battle bonus.

11. The Tusk of Ares: A bleached boar tusk, it is carved with gruesome battle scenes, ever changing. If you watch closely, you might see a famous halloweener… or maybe even a horseman or hunter.

When Mort stumbled in after Belladonna, he wasn't sure what he was expecting to wait for him on the other side. If this really was the legit alter location, then surely they'd have to look out for aged stone and ruins and feral animals -

- or it could just be a big mountain. A really tall one too. Mort craned his neck to see the top and made a small face. Climbing wasn't . . . his forte exactly. No amount of gym time would ever make him change his mind about it. But there was a feeling in the air that told him they would have to scale it to find what they were looking for. Like any good hero story, they would have to literally scale a mountain to reach the prize at the end.

Good thing he was hyped up on coffee.

"Mrrr . . . Looks like doozy," he commented, stretching his arms a bit. There was a lighter path they could follow that seemed to wind a bit up and a little around the mountain, which seemed to be their only option. "Doozydoozydoozy. Mrrrr. But magic trio is here to conquer!"

And he struck a pose.

Rather pleased with herself for finding the portal, Belladonna happily ushered the two zomboils in and smiled up at the mountain. Holy Hecate it was tall, but that's ok! They could still climb it. They had the Power of Friendship with a heavy helping of the Power of Love. There was no way they could fail!
At least not with simply scaling a mountain. Sure it was really tall and scary and they could possibly fall to their semi-deaths or sprain an ankle or maybe fall into a cavern or get eaten by rabid minipets or whatever, but hey! That would be easy!
"Doozy doozy doozy." Belladonna mumbled as she shifted her messenger bag around towards the back of one hip and took a deep breath. Alright. This would totally be easy and since they were still all hyped up on caffeine, it would be quick too! Surely!

Not one to miss dramatic gestures, Belladonna quickly stepped next to Mort and posed as well before she hopped forward onto the path as the self imposed leader. Naturally her vanity over being the one to lead the charge resulted in an odd shadow that tripped her up, quite literally, by being somewhat tangible. A tiny shriek was the only warning the witch could give before she tripped backwards and felt terribly awful for starting this journey out with... Something that wanted to attack them.
"So now its a doozy, doozy, doozy.... Doozy."
Bad joke was very, very bad.

Alexander's lips quirked up at the corners when Belladonna bid them to follow her into the portal. Finally, they might actually be getting somewhere! Excitement coursed through him, or maybe that was still just the caffiene from earlier...

Well whatever the case, the zomboil marched his way through the portal, eager to see what was to be found on the other side.

And his gaze went up. And up and up and up and up and...

"Woaaaahhhhh. Are we uh...actually supposed to climb that thing?" His eyebrows lifted, his head was still tilted back, the stitching around his neck straining against his skin before he finally looked back down, squinting his eye and shaking his head from the faint sense of dizziness. It was probably a good thing that Alexander was actually good at climbing, and that he didn't tire easily. Running up lightening hill, fighting bears on a mountain, and the horseman trials of war should have given him more then enough experience for something like this.

Oh what was it posing time? Alexander shuffled over and, yep, made a pose as well. It just seemed like the thing to do, and really it wasn't like they needed to be taking this super seriously or anything. This was going to be fun, despite knowing that in Amityville, fun usually resulted in death, dissipation, and horrible mental scarring.

Whatever.

Belladonna seemed pretty eager to get started, and who was Alex to stop her? He was content to just mosey along behind everyone else, really.

Well, until he saw some kind of monstrous shadow arise from the ground. "Belladonna! Are you okay?" She seemed okay for now, but Alexander still hurried himself forward, attempting to take up a protective stance because these were his friends, this was his horde, and nobody, not even some stupid shadow, was going to mess with them!

Awww yeah, OTP Posing~ Bells got a kiss for following along so easily.

And then OTP became OT3 and all things were well in this world. Yes indeed.

Mort might or might not have shouted, "YATTA!" upon completion before falling in line behind the witch, content to follow since the path was made obvious before them anyway; she was short enough that he could fire an attack above her anyway if something came up. Which it did.

It was a strange shadowy creature that stood even taller than Alex, with no discernible features beyond its inky exterior and a very obvious aura that read as hostile. Well guess what, obstacle, you were about to get conquered. So Mort darted to the other side, mirroring Alex as he rushed forward - but while Alex was out to protect, Mort was on the offensive.

Unfortunately now matter how hard he tried, his Fear couldn't seem to concentrate into the bolts he needed to make the charge successful, so the zomboil was tossed back like a ragdoll instead by a shadowy swipe instead. Caffeine was a hell of a drug.

Even the power of OT3 could not stop them from being attacked, which was really a shame considering that all together they were quite powerful. But maybe that was perhaps why they were attacked, so they could show this mountain just who was boss. So though the witch felt just terrible about having triggered the unfortunate monster that appeared to attack them, she refused to be daunted. At least until after it got a hit in.
Owwwwwww~
Still! They had to defeat this thing quick so they could continue on in their journey! For artifacts! For helping! Yeah! And the witch absolutely adored helping! With a flash of her cards Belladonna quickly whipped out Death and materialized the Knight before her.
"Use the lance, if you don't mind." She instructed the tall skeleton with a smile and he seemed happy to oblige. Instead of a normal piercing move, the Death Knight instead used the weapon to smack the shadow, which naturally made the witch cackle with glee.

Alexander's lip was already curling back from his teeth, his eye narrowed into a deathly glare towards their shadowy assailant. There was no way the zomboil was going to just sit back and let this thing attack his friends. He began to ready his Fear, mentally apologizing to both Mort and Belladonna who had both been the receiving end of the green miasma at one point or another. There was nothing he could do to protect them from the smell but at least they could be thankful that the stench would at least be concentrated mostly on the shadowy figure in front of them, hopefully blinding it from landing any attacks while Alexander could work on beating it down.

Normally that's how it would have worked. Today, however.....

The Fear rippled up his body, the gas forming in coalesced masses around his fists that he readied to push out towards the shadowy beast. He had to concentrate, could for some reason feel his control on his Fear slipping, like he just could not focus properly like something was....

.....Oh no, the caffeine!

Still, he fought against it, struggled to keep hold of it, knowing full well how disastrous the results of letting go right now would be.

And that's when the shadow lashed out at him, sending him stumbling backwards, the green gas exploding around him, encompassing him, and likely the trio that stood so near him as well.

Ooooops.

And that was when Mort was glad to remember he didn't have to breathe. He made a face as it stung his eyes nevertheless, pulling his shirt up as he waved it away as best he could from both him and Bells, who he knew would have a worse time of it. There was a reason it had worked so well on him as an Insanity tainted created!

When the miasma had mostly faded away, Mort released his shirt, charged Thor, and sent a few arcs of energy the creatures away, hoping that it too had been weakened by the residual stench. Jackdamn, Alex.

Note to self: do not drink coffee before fight. His fingers were twitching a lot more than they ought to.

"Still alive?" he called to Bells as he tried to shake off the nervous energy.

Of all the times to be as dramatic as possible, perhaps now was the worst. This was supposed to be a quest for items that would help erase Mort's Insanity, a quest that would test their strength and courage and hope. A quest to prove themselves.
Instead, Belladonna decided now would be the perfect time to just go a bit crazy.
A high pitched scream was her reply to Mort as she fell to the ground, both hands clamped tight over her nose. The smell was jack damn awful. There was absolutely no way to describe just how terrible it was, at least not until the witch let her scream stop to drag in a breath and found out it was lot worse than she originally expected. After that all she could do was lie helplessly on the ground and cough and sputter and try to filter some air through her fingers.
There was really no use attacking either. Instead Belladonna remained on the ground and bemoaned her sudden lot in life. Why smell? Why such horrid, horrid smell? Why was she the only one who needed to breath?
Woe, woe and despair....

Alexander felt awful. It had been a long time since he had lost control over his Fear attack like that. So long ago the memory was, in fact, a bit hazy. He seemed to remember it was almost a year before, however, when Christmas had invaded the school and sent it's horrid minions and snow and Joy after the students.

Of course, he had no doubt that Mort would be able to withstand it. He was a zombie after all. Zombies just smelt bad. It came with the package. That and the other boil wouldn't need to breathe so really, no harm done, right?

But then there was Belladonna. He knew she wasn't going to get off as easy, and indeed he could see her through a haze of green, hear her scream, watch her as she went to the ground and struggled to breathe.

"I'M REALLY SORRY BELLADONNA!" He called out to her, the look on his face nothing short of completely and utterly mortified.

But this had been that stupid shadow things fault, so it was time to take things out on it! The zomboil lurched forward with his look changing towards determination before he threw out a fist and caught the shadow in it's inky mass, though he received quite a painful swipe in return for his efforts.

Thaaaat was not a good scream. Nope. Mort cringed at the sound of it. "S'alright, take your time getting back up!" he told Bells with a sympathetic look before turning back to the monster. It was unnerving how quiet the thing was in spite of its tangible swipes. Was was it supposed to be of anyway?

Well in any case, it needed to go away and fast. This was taking up time form their adventure! So Mort wound up is fists and joined Alex in the punchfest, hoping that their efforts were whittling the thing down fast.

At least they were being so understanding! It would have honestly been insult to injury if they had chided the witch for being so melodramatic over the smell. Thus (somewhat) cheered by their words, Belladonna managed a strangled:
"I think I'm dying."
Which meant she was given free reign to continue lying on the ground in a prone and defeated manner. Unfortunately that tactic did not fool the shadow monster as it still stomped on her form, which elicited an angry hiss from the witch as well as quite a hefty hit from her cards. Leave a dying woman to over dramatize!
