AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM Name: Blake Nicknames: Nightshade Gender: Male Age: 15
Faction/Race Ghost (Shade) Natural Ability: Shadow Shifting Shades have some amount of control over the shadows that form them. They can't look human, but they can create shapes or, sometimes, more solid objects from the darkness. As a Y1 Student: Blake is made up of shadows and is therefore able to manipulate himself into a wide variety of shapes. His strength remains the same, however, regardless of whatever form he takes. He is also able to manipulate his own shadow into various shapes.
Personality: Blake's a bit of a goofball. And a bit... rough around the edges.
OMGSQUIRREL: Short attention span, easily distracted, restless, ADD/ADHD, call it what you will. Life on the streets has made his mind active and his body restless. Staying put for too long could mean dissipation in his world.
Trickster: Blake loves to pull a clever gimmick. And then deny ever having done such a thing with a straight face (if caught). Either he's the mastermind behind the prank, pulling the strings, or does it all hands-on. Nobody is safe from his gimmicks. Nobody.
Well-mannered: Once in a while, Blake can be a true gentleman (or try to be; street-style though). Including trying to help others, such as visitors or the newly enrolled. Don't be fooled by his background.
Focused... Or Not: If the situation warrants it, he can be serious. Though he tends to get bored easily, especially when it comes to things like studying & schoolwork. Unless it's something that fascinates him. Then he's all-in. Otherwise... he'd much rather be elsewhere, doing something. If he's going to do nothing worthwhile (in his view), then it Jack'd better be of his own free will.
Background: Due to his being raised on the streets, Blake's education is... limited. Every day the primary task was to survive; therefore, the focus on "education" was more on how to live on the streets than the more traditional schooling. The crew he lived with bartered in the form of trading goods/services or filching anything they could get. Due to lacking possessions, they did what they could for fun with what their species' varying natural abilities were. What he loved to do most was freerunning & parkour. It enabled him to stay active in mind and body, as well as making it hard to peg just where his next step would be should there be someone chasing him after he filched a rather nice pair of shoes... That, and it's hard to find a shadow hiding within a shadow. The crew he grew up with were all Ghosts, Spirits, and a few Elementals. All of whom were boils (if one could assign a gender to an Elemental...). When the crew he grew up with (whom view each other like family) found out he could attend Amityville Academy, they all pitched in and traded, bartered, or filched what they could and managed to gather up an outfit for Blake that didn't look like it had rotted away in some forgotten crypt.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? He heard that if one attended this school, one had a better chance of visiting the (ever-elusive) Human world... Sweet. Though he'd never admit the real reason... Learning how to use his FEAR. The greater mastery one has of their FEAR, the more respect (and power) they held. At lest, that seemed to be the case on the ramshackle streets Blake grew up in on the outskirts of The Collection alongside a rag-tag group of other ghostly boils his age. There may be safety in numbers, but it always helped to have an edge against the older, more powerful & experienced denizens roaming the same streets as he & his crew. Therefore, if Blake can master his FEAR and become stronger, he'll be able to protect his crew better.
FEAR: Y1 Shadow Drain The Chill By absorbing shadows, Blake is able to restore his own health & stamina.
Y2 Darkness Descends The Barrier By controlling the shadows, Blake can darken a small area, effectively hiding one person inside it.
Y3 Shadow Bind Headlights Target is bound in place by shadows.
Physical Description: See art. Eye Colour: Black sclera & iris; pupil is a glowing goldenrod (doesn't affect his vision, however). Hair Colour/Style: Short, black, & messy. Skin Colour: Grey-black. Clothing Style/Colours: See art. Extra: See art. Ready for Crits!
I think Blake is ready to be looked over, and of course I'll need some help hammering out some of the details. I request that you be patient with me. I'm a bit of a derp, and working full-time takes a toll on my mind. Especially if it was a hard day at work... Working in fast food may be a stable job, but it can be intense. |D Some things will need to be explained to me (the simpler, the better). Links and examples are welcome!
And of course filling out more information about him (with a Q & A, starring him or I) is always a possibility (and honestly I think I need to expand upon the info anyway).
Q & A
Is it possible to balance being energetic/restless and laid-back/lazy?
Does he prefer to think or take action? A little of both, depending on the situation. He won't lead, but he'll take some self-initiative.

Crits! I like giving crits.
First of all, I think you need to expand on his personality a little more. There's not a whole lot there to work with and think about. What kind of things does he like, what can he not stand, does he have any pet peeves, any defining habits? What kind of situation would make him more able to overcome his ADD, as you've stated? Think about what his ultimate goals would be in attending amityville and what that says about his personality.
As a year 1, he should only have one fear, so you should decide on just one of the three you have listed.
Also, why his nicknames? Nicknames like that usually have stories behind them and connections that caused them.
I'm not sure about his natural ability, but it does sound to me like a sort of shadow puppetry, so maybe just take that idea and roll with it.

I should've labeled them; those are the FEARs he has for each year. I fixed it so it would be more clearer. I made his personality blurbs slightly vague and open to interpretations, since I didn't want to give him a permanent "You Are This" and have him go in another direction entirely. xD Characters like to take on a life of their own... li'l buggers. And hopefully with RP I'd be able to flesh them out properly. When I got offline last night, I suddenly was granted a glimpse of his past and whatnot. |D He's basically a street kid. Lived in one of the many run-down buildings that border The Collection (read that in the species/racial information link on Ghosts). He and a rag-tag group of other young boils around the same age pretty much lived together, much like the Lost Boys in Neverland (Lost Boils, TiH style). Each of them had their own code-names/nicknames. Blake was so silent he could move up to be next to, or behind, someone without them noticing until they turned and they'd be all "What the Jack?! Where'd you come from?!". He's pretty tight with his crew/pack, so if there's a fight or battle or whatnot... he'll float about and participate to the best of his ability, helping if/when he can. If he's actively (as in, requiring being active) engaged in something, like a game (though even those might bore him after a while), then he's focused on what he's doing. Music, with a good beat (and attitude), blaring from headphones might also help him stay on track.

Street kid, huh? That sounds kinda familiar...
((Lost boys and Neverland?! <3 Loving this guy more and more. Also sounds like Oliver Twist and those other boy street gangs of orphans.))

I'm just rollin' with what vibes I get from him. xD He's already taking a life of his own in my head. Dunno if the "street kid" thing is overplayed; hopefully I'll do it in a way that it won't be common/annoying/etc. |D Yeah, that's the idea. x3

Pretty awesome. I like his pin, too. But I'm curious - why the name 'Padfoot'?

Shadow the Pokemorph Pretty awesome. I like his pin, too. But I'm curious - why the name 'Padfoot'? I was toying with having that as one of his nicknames, explained to DarkHeartedSorrows, but decided against it. Nightshade sounds cooler anyway. ;3

He's getting there but I think his personality still needs a bit of work.
For example; what interests him? Is he only focused in serious situations or is there something someone can talk about to pique his interest?
What kind of people is he more inclined to be friends with? What kind of people is he more inclined to be enemies with? Does he prank everyone? Or just certain types of people?
Why does he suddenly become a gentleman to help others? It seems his personality does a bit of a flip for no real reason.
What is his background? How did that effect his personality now?
Maybe more things if I can think of them. B|a

Xantara the Eternal Blake has been approved! You may make his journal and begin RPing~ In an effort to promote recycling in Amityville, staff finally allowed the Acceptance Bin to start pan-handling in the halls. At first students mistook the Bin for another garbadge can. After spending several weeks recuperating from attempting to digest a student's homework, the Acceptance Bin quit and began to stick to a diet of notes that were passed around in class.
