Whose stupid idea was it for Quinn to get a job?
She was grumbling to herself as she cashed out some rude jerkoff that assumed that because he had a p***s (it was probably small) he automatically knew more about video games than she did. She may or may not have been considering cutting out of work early to follow him out of the store, power up, and kick his a**.
What was that about people skills? Yeah. Quinn probably lacked them.
Hearing the familiar ding of the door of the store opening, Quinn rolled her eyes and didn't bother to look up, let alone greet the customer that entered. While she was grateful for the job - because paying rent was probably a good thing (and the discount didn't suck) - she was equally grateful that her shift was alllllllllmost over.

"Oh," The warm, lazy drawl was far from the condescending, often nasally tone of the male gamer, and was matched by a wide, dimpled grin. "Finding you here? Wonderful." Kess' elbow found the counter top as she leaned in, dark eyes catching the cashier's when she looked up. "Now, if you had my pre-order in on top it it, well, that'd just be heaven."
She was pleased as punch to see Quinn, though as of late, she'd noticed that her reactions to things were somewhat more muted than usual [she laughed less, she shouted less, everything, less], but it didn't stop the smile from reaching her black gaze.
Obviously, Quinn had recently started working here, since this store was in comfortable proximity to Kess' pad.

An eyebrow quirked when she first heard the voice, then their eyes met and a grin split upon Quinn's face to match Kess'. "Well hello there, darlin." When was the last time they had seen each other as civilians? Was it the beach party? Far too long ago, Quinn decided.
"You're a sight for sore eyes," she said with a laugh and the stroke of a few keys. "What'd you order? I'll work my magic fingers for you," she winked at the other girl.
... Did she really just say that out loud?
Maybe it was the fact that she saw her so often as Leto and Howlite that the muted reactions didn't even cross Quinn's mind. As far as she was concerned, nothing of her personality had changed- particularly when she still smiled with her eyes. And unfortunately for Quinn, she had no idea that Kess lived so close-by. If she had, she probably wouldn't have dreaded being here quite so often since she'd have someone to bug before and/or after her shifts.

"Please do," Black eyes flicked over Quinn, taking in her uniform before raising back up to her eyes, "Halo 4, I've been..." Her grin grew lopsided, "A bit too busy to pick it up." There were very few things that came before video games, but Chaos was one of them.
She waited, in relaxed silence, as Quinn's fingers flew across the keys and the young woman turned to pull her game from a shelf, before asking with marked ease, "Let me take you out, Quinn."
Kess had always meant to. Spending hours together at night didn't quite count when you were patrolling.

A knowing smile kept over Quinn's lips, "Too busy for Halo?" She tsked at Kess and shook her head mockingly. "I dunno... I don't think being too busy is acceptable. I may hafta keep your game for myself."
She put the game on the counter and bent so her stance matched Kess', elbows on the counter, her chin rested in one hand. She watched her for a moment, in a sort of stunned silence, her cheeks flushed. It wasn't long, however, before her goofy looking grin reappeared. "Like.... On a date? 'Cause I dunno if you can handle me. I stay out all hours of the night doing who knows what with terribly evil people."
"No but really, I'd love to," she added with a laugh. "You just let me know when and where and how you want me and I'm all yours."
Sorry Axel, but you don't say no to a ******** GK. Plus... It was Kess. She'd be lying if she said she had never flirted with the idea (or with her).

"Yeah," was all the lanky blonde had to say in response to Quinn's blushing wit. They lingered there, each leaning across their side of the counter, for a heartbeat or two too long, and it was probably for the best when the door chimed and disturbed the mood.
Straightening, Kess's palm slapped down on the shrink-wrapped game, sliding it back toward herself as her gaze flicked from the newcomer back to Quinn. She wasn't going to hang around and get her into trouble. The trouble would come later. "Dinner, tonight. 7:30. I'll text before I swing by."
Backing away from the counter, the freckled girl had the audacity to mouth 'All mine,' toward her future date before ducking her way out of the front door.

The chime of the door snapped Quinn back to reality, forcing her to straighten and acknowledge the customer with a smile. Her attention immediately moved back to Kess. "7:30. See you then," she said through a breath she didn't realize she was holding.
Quinn's eyes widened only slightly as the blush deepened on her cheeks. She just saw her mouth what she think she saw, right?
She watched Kess slip out the door of the store and she had to shake her head to rid herself of terrible terrible thoughts. Her eyes slipped down to her watch to check the time- Almost done her shift. Five more minutes. By the time she finished helping the next customer, her time was up and she was pushing herself out the door with a quick wave to her co-worker. The entire time home, the only thing she could think about was the words Kess mouthed at her.
All mine.
