♦ Nine grew up in the city of New York. Nine and Sven were both really good friends. Sven being the serious and calm one and Nine was the perfectly cheerful and powerful one. They were complete opposites and placed together on solving a case. The case involved supernatural events and suspects.
After gathering the evidence to bring the down the suspect, Nine was possessed by a demon. He set fire to the evidence room and Sven tried his best to save him while letting himself burn. Nine awoke in the hospital with a scar diagonally on the bridge of his nose from a knife. He also didn't remember trying to commit suicide which ended in a fail. He was distressed and saddened by the incident when he heard of it and cried inside as the demon explained that Sven sabotaged the evidence. Nine befriended Takane, the three year old daughter of a friend, and lavished her with gifts. His mind was not correct so he was sent to a mental asylum. After seeming alright for a straight year, he was released and he moved to Evergreen City.

♦ Nine is usually depicted as a lively, carefree, and childlike individual, who almost always has a smile on his face. However, despite this happy persona, he is considered absolutely dangerous and ruthless amongst his friends when it comes to fighting and battle. He also holds a rather bleak view on life, questioning once as to whether or not people actually have a reason for living.
One can probably assume that Nine was a good friend, who was really protective of and cared deeply for Takane. Unfortunately, his best friend died whilst trying to protect him during a fire. Nine was so gravely affected by his friend's death that he personally decided that Takane will play the role of his deceased best friend. Since Nine saw Takane as bestie, he treated her like he would with his actual friend. One example would be when two other men tried to bully her, he killed all of them for her. Another example would be when Nine gave a necklace to Takane when she was feeling down.
It is hinted that Nine harbored romantic feelings for his deceased friend, although it is unknown if this is actual or a ruse of his possessor.
