User Image The day had been warm with a hint of Autumn to the breeze. Yáviel loved the changing of the season. Fall was her favorite, the leaves in shades of gold, red, and orange. It was truly an amazing sight in her eyes. The mare had decided it would be a perfect time to go out hunting for new herbs.

With her little swarm of fireflies the mare slowly made her way through the forest. Stopping often to look over plants to see if they might be anything useful. Yáviel sent her little companions out of her face with a gust from her wings. She wasn't sure what attracted them but she enjoyed their dancing lights and constant company. The mare bent down slowly to sniff at a clump of deep green leaves.

Auri had been looking for someone to ask about a river for almost a day now. He wasn't sure if there was just no one in the area, of if he just missed seeing them under the canopy of trees. But the dancing lights of fireflies drew his eye towards a mare. He looked for a nearby clearing and saw one that was just large enough for him to land not too far distant from where she seemed to be . . . Auri hoped she was just examining the holly leaves. Eating them could be a stomach churning experience.

Hoping to keep her from startling, Auri calls out as he lands, "Hello?" Too often he had landed only to find the soquili he had hoped to speak with had spooked and run before he got to them. Trying to look as friendly as possible, he trots towards where he last saw the mare.

Fluttering her wings slowly as she thought Yáviel decided against investigating the plant further. Red berries were certainly warning enough for her to make the decision. She wanted to know what they were however. As she continued to peer down her long mane fell forward, her tiny hair bells tinkling as they moved. The sound distracted her from the swooping noise of wings.

Yáviel whipped her head around and into a defensive stance as she heard someone call out. Her fireflies danced excitedly as the mare peered around her. Goldenleaf's were a peaceful herd and Yáviel confidant in her ability to talk to anyone. Her decision made she strode forward a few steps at a slow pace.
"Hello?" She called back. One step further and Yáviel could see the stranger, she had to stop in awe.

Auri smiles as he sees the mare waiting and friendly. With an inclination of his head that is not quite a bow, "Good day. Your pardon if I am interrupting something of import. I had hoped to ask for directions?"

There was something a bit odd in the way she looked at him. But she seemed gentle and was certainly lovely. Enough so that he figured she did little violence or her long tresses surely would be tangled beyond repair. So Auri, friendly smile in place, waited for her response.

Quite at a loss for words Yáviel shakes her head slightly making a tinkling sound as her bells move. Relaxing a little as the stallion speaks, she gains a moment to recuperate.
"Pardon my staring....you ....have been touched by the fire god." Yáviel blurts and gives him a a slight bow in respect. In her herd those with golden hair were considered to be touched by the god and were treated with the highest respect. However these days there was a lack in these individuals.
"Directions?, yes I might be able to help you. Plants will keep" She nodded with a friendly smile. Yáviel mentally kicked herself for being a dolt.

Auri blinks. Well, that was new. His friend Tiger had told him that his mother was rather volcanic, but this was the first time someone else had mentioned anything. He didn't personally think he looked much like lava, even if the hawk said that was what his hide reminded him of.

With a slight shrug, "Ah . . . yes. I'm looking for a river. It runs into the ocean. I had thought I was heading in the right direction but I think I should have found it already. Do you know of anything like that near here?"

"Or . . . on the off chance . . . um . . . You don't happen to know a bear named Spike? I understand he has odd rock . . . something, on his forelegs?"

. Yáviel had to think for a few moments about where they were geographically in context to the location that the stallion wanted to go. She was not too familiar with the route so she had to consider carefully.

"I'm fairly certain that if you travel further south, it's not too long of a travel but a nice walk, then there is a river there that I've heard connects to the ocean." As the mare continued to think she fluttered her wing slowly, her fireflies danced between them.

"I haven't been that way personally but I can accompany you if you wish. I wouldn't feel right sending anyone off by themselves on unsure directions. As for your bear I haven't seen one in a while." Yáviel dipped her head slightly as she smiled and offered her help. Herbs could wait for another day, adventure was always the more interesting option.
