The
Guardian
`•.¸¸.••´´¯``•• .¸¸.•´

As far back as she could remember, her world had always been just that; her own little world. One she created herself, lived in, changed to her liking even. It was not hard with the power of illusion in her paws. It let her lose track of her age, of her family... she'd never had friends so there was little to say of any such beings.

Life was almost boring for the female. Black Amethyst, her given name by her parents, whom are nameless even to her. She always stared into the moon, wondering what it meant, why she had it...what the world around her was really like once she found out that, if she didn't like something, her mind made it something else. All until it was liked. It was the process of thinking, this train of thought that kept the world from being the bore that it might have ended up.

That was an unknown though as she didn't know what to otherwise make of the world... not for a while at least. Her ears always stayed attuned to any that might show up, to speak or be friends... None ever made themselves known though, or... they might not have or they might have. She was always unsure about that. Without control over her illusions, her thoughts went wild and she began to think that she might have cut herself off from anything that was to show itself on its own....

And so she trained herself to see the world as it was. It took moons, so many moons to get a grip on it. Her mane grew in, her tail was long, the blade at the tip was harsh looking, yet small, her eyes mismatched, just as the markings on her body and the dual tone of her mane and belly marks... But it was worth it. To grow and learn, to see what she could see... Black Amethyst had learned more than just control. Her heart opened to feel the world she loved, holding it as dear as her created world. That was when she heard the voice.

It called to her, beckoned her to come and settle with it, to care and show and learn and teach... but what was it that called? She heard no voices, and it was not in her mind... perhaps another thing she was unsure of? An adventure...leaving the familiar, the place she knew so well.

She hesitated once on her paws, and began off toward the beckoning call.

The
First
Egg
`•.¸¸.••´´¯``•• .¸¸.•´

The journey she'd taken had been a long one... or long for her, whom had never set paw from her home in such a set manner before. Her eyes set before her, ears perked, illusions hiding her from view until the call was calmed or gave her some indication that she was near enough that the whatever that was calling her in such a way... what was this? Each rest she took filled her mind with things she knew she'd not fill it with herself. Things she'd never thought of before, her mind straying to the dreams and visions each day when she woke and continued her journey, each hunt...

"What is this?" Her voice was brought forth, for the first time in a long time. She didn't speak usually, not unless there was one that was speaking to her or something that needed deeper thought. This was a thought she wanted to bring forward in her mind, to think of and learn... "It's wordless and says to come, there is no sight to it, no sound..." Just to go, to seek and sate her need that had arisen. And as she was, she planned to feed it.

"Why me?" She was laying down, her paws in a small pool of water that was soothing the soreness. Two breaks each day, both for food, and one at night for rest and sleep. Tonight she was staring at the sky, clouds hiding her usual and beloved moon. "So strange...This feeling...why? What do you want?" Her ears twitched, softly glowing eyes settling on a night bird, a soft huff heard before she lay her head to rest. "Why...me...?"

Her dreams that night were few. The only one being herself, seated before a large carved stone, a cloud of color all around her, shifting, seething, alive almost. It filled her mind, pressed her to move. Not long, it told her. Not long. You come, you care. It called over and over and over again. Her paws were so sore.... The stone was left behind, and a new one was in view, colored oddly, a pattern? As she opened her maw, the cloud got bright, the colors blinding...

As she walked the next day, the dream in her mind as aching paws began to bleed, herself not noticing as she thought. Color...such color... A check on progress, she looked up, pausing a moment as the shrine was seen in the distance, thoughts cutting off, paws moving again. Was this the place that housed what called to her? There was only one way to find out.

Her paws were washed first, this seeming like a special place, her head starting to pound so hard her illusion fell on its own. She shook her head to the pain before walking up the steps, looking to the statues, looking to what might call out, what might want her... A two leg was seen, but much like those she could at least ponder to trust... She seemed to smirk, knowing almost why the female was there. Black Amethyst placed up an illusion of herself, making a mimic-like form of herself, though upon two legs, a dress, fingers, her mane and tail stayed, her eyes and markings and tail as well...User Image

"You come by the call." Her voice was so calm and... trustworthy. She simply tensed a bit more. What was she doing? The female moved toward a pedestal, taking up an egg... that egg...

"Why me..." Guardian... "Of...you?" Guardian... She frowned at the responses that sounded in her heart. She didn't understand...

"She chooses you." The egg was placed down in a nest of grass. "You are worthy." To care, to watch, to teach, and to learn... The female stalked over, her tail arching forward, carefully touching the egg... It moved, clicking happily, her ears went up. She...

"Little one..." She felt the urge leaving, a new thing replacing it. Care. She had something to watch over.. Her world was changing... She had moved, she had found a sort of...family member she'd never expected. This egg that wiggled and clicked...

And now she needed a home for it.

She knew she had to find shelter. It was morning as she wandered up, and was still so as she brought the egg with her, held in a decorative cloth given to her by the Guardian of the shrine. It would hold the egg, and keep it warm... but not for long. There was always the weather to think of, the sky and the ground, the wind and the rain... She was trusted to care for this little growing being, and so she would.

With sore paws and the egg in her mouth, she was sure to be careful, moving toward a mountain, seen in the distance as she managed to get moving properly, nose twitching as she searched for anything to settle inside. A cave was her aim, her paws carrying her around a tree, over a log, and through a field. Thankfully, the egg didn't really move much as she carried it. Perhaps it knew that she was to handle it with such care? Whatever it was, she was happy that it was safe.

User ImageAs she traveled, overlooking places that were already taken, turning away from places that looked too dangerous or too low in case of bad weather, she made sure to check her time left, tail swishing slowly behind her as she moved, pausing as a stream to rest and drink. Her ear twitched, the cool liquid felt on her tongue, the egg she'd set down wiggling slightly. Friend. A friend? She blinked and got up, moving to stand over the egg, pausing as she noticed something nearby. What was it? Moving carefully, she got the cloth-held egg, and moved over toward the strange thing.

But a thing it was not. A dragon, it once was. Something had killed it, the body laying there, flies around it, bits missing, taken by scavengers and possibly other dragons... two broken eggs were seen near the showing rear foot, and one quivering egg that remained, falling from the root that had wedged it into safety, letting it roll over, stopping at her paws. It seemed the creature had been on the way to the shrine, but in the end had not made it...

"Poor thing..." She had set the egg down again, moving to try and nudge the other into the cloth to be carried as well. It quivered in an almost scared manner. "I will not hurt you... come... live with us." She nuzzled it, a sigh heard as it finally seemed to comply. She was careful as she got the cloth back and properly in her mouth before she moved again, in more of a hurry to find shelter. one egg, she could keep warm. Two, she could attempt but not without the possibility of one getting less care. Her ear twitched then, and she looked toward the cave that had caught her eye slightly, rather near the ocean. It was atop a cliff for the most part... but seemed very safe. So, she moved toward it, noticing a lot of prey running around and away.

That let her know that it was uninhabited. Perhaps a good cave was there somewhere? She would soon find out, as her paws were already carrying her up to the place her eyes were set upon. She made sure to watch her step and where the eggs would swing, jaw getting tired from the weight already, paws burning more at contact with the rough and sharp rocks that she had to pull herself upon. She spent a lot of time moving up, soon settled in the mouth of a cave, her eyes settled on the look around her as the cloth was settled down, rested in a small groove in the stone floor. Remains of moss and waste were around... Maybe some exploring was meant to be done? She moved and got the eggs again, heading toward the back, pausing here and there as she listened for life.

Looking around, there were three chambers found, one that seemed for storage or something of the sort, overgrown with moss and holding a small pool of water. The second was larger, also filled with moss but also dead grass and twigs, a sleeping area perhaps? The third was further away and far larger, a wide opening seen as well as more water, much more greenery and even a hole that lead to the outside, blocked by fallen trees and bushes. By scent, it was empty.

Black Amethyst had found a home, now she just needed to clean it up.

The
New
`•.¸¸.••´´¯``•• .¸¸.•´

She was out and moving, her paws aching, though the sun was shining and showing far greater tides. A glance up made her pause and sigh before she was moving along still, moving to strip a bush of its branches, a nest to be made for the two eggs that she had, tail arching and coiling as she had to hold it some way, leaving her to return slowly to the cave again. Balancing carefully with her tail and side she watched her progress, her steps, the rough stones making it harder as she made her way into the smallest of the little caverns, pressing the leaves and small twigs back with her hurting paws, the eggs quivering nearby.

Another trip left her a nest fit for five, and the two eggs were settled in and left alone as she moved the bad grass and debris out, tail twitching as she let it fall down the mountainside. It was right then that she let her exhaustion take over as she moved along, curling up around the eggs to be sure that they were fine for at least that night, eyes shutting and a sigh heard as her fluffy mane touched both eggs, though not fully, the nesting taking care of the rest. It was a restful nap, lasting through the afternoon, her waking long enough to hurry off and get some food before she returned to sleep for the night. Again, she was left alone, her dreams blank and silent, her mind settled until the hour to wake.

Breakfast was had with her paws in a cool pool of water, then she was off again to start tending to the other areas. The actual smallest cavern being what she tended to, as that would assuredly take the whole day. Or at least until lunch, as what she removed was easy to remove, tossed out onto the cliff like usual. The next was to toss out what was in the main chamber, then the largest one to the side. There was little understanding to why she was working so hard but... she was. Her tired paws moved her along, and soon enough, she was taking a break. The cave was to take a while, this she knew... until it was done, she would work... but rest came first.

Sleep and food, rest and thought. She was thinking all she could about her new situation, her paws healing slowly, losing their soreness, tail wiggling every so often. The place she chose was nice, the ocean a ways off, her sight of the sky rather unobstructed, prey down the mountain as well as many berry bushes and fruit trees. She was satisfied at this, her settlement being so nice. And the rough stones were good for sharpening claws and horns and her blade upon her tail even. It tapped upon the stones, her eyes shutting.

User ImageNearly two weeks later, the canine-esque guardian was moving along, out to check the shrine again, a habit that had touched her each day. She always went before the sun rose, the eggs left with her warmth as she took the faster journey, the cloth in her maw as she never knew what to expect from the place of dragon young, always resting where they were... For the past two weeks, there were none that beckoned to her, but one that asked to be taken to another. She had done that, the egg happy as it was held by the guardian whom loved it already. And now today, as she moved up, a little brown egg caught her attention. It was far in the back, one of the freshly laid or found ones, and it was reacting.

She moved up immediately, being sure that it was not simply wanting her to bring it to another, or even calling for her attention as a joke. A moment of focus brought the thoughts into her mind. This egg, which she noticed to have a necklace of sorts nearby, was shaking and quivering just for her. A soft smile let her take it up, carefully cradled within the cloth of crimson that she so favored to carry the precious things within. A few younglings nearby squeaked at her, one choosing to lick her paw before she was leaving, the wigglers following to say goodbye. Cute things, she had to smile about them.

User ImageWalking back during the morning hours was rather lovely, and her mood was rather high thanks to earlier finding a place to practice fishing, which ended with one catch and four misses. One was progress though! Very much progress! She'd been sure to leave it in a pool of water for breakfast when she returned... Though upon returning and checking on the eggs, she found that there was simply one egg, and a very hungry rainbow dusted youngling eating her fish. The shell seemed to have been eaten as well, which was slightly odd but she accepted it as something of the dragonyoung kind. The new egg was placed down, and the wiggler was examined.

"HI HI HI!" It nearly chirped the word, turning and rolling and leaving marks of rainbow all over, orbs that changed and shifted and floated and otherwise simple color distortions... "Neone!" What? The guardian was confused for a moment before remembering a less than vivid dream from the past, the word being all that floated through her mind... perhaps it was how the female had shared her name? Either way...

"Black Amethyst. Call me what you can though little Neone." She smiled softly. It was time to bond with the little one...perhaps her trip to the shrine could wait a few days. The little one was so energetic, and the rainbows... "Such pretty light in you eyes and soul."

"YEP YEP!" She giggled and moved around, coiling around the new egg. "I'll keep warm!!!"

This was going to be fun.
