Grant had been getting a lot of help from his fellow DMC soldiers, and his mood had been reinforced. The happiness he had been forcing was coming more easily now, and he could smile without feeling, deep inside, like he was lying.
His friends had helped him clear his mind, and gave him a little more direction than he had before. But he knew there was one person he could talk to about anything, without ever having to feel guilty about it.
And that was his girlfriend.
She would listen to him and he could be completely honest. Not that he was a liar, but she knew him enough that he would have no hesitation in explaining the full story, and adding his honest thoughts to it. With her, he could almost be sad without feeling like he was letting anyone down.
That was rather profound for him.
He had invited her to his place, so they could relax and talk. On top of everything else, he felt like he had not been paying her enough attention, and wanted to know how she was doing. He had a bouquet of flowers for her, real ones and not paper.

The smell of sweet and sour chicken and shrimp fried rice proceeded the teen as she approached the front door of Grant Caudwell. He hadn't asked her to pick up something to eat, but it was nearing dinner time, and she thought the take out would come as a nice surprise. A few quick knocks on the door announced her arrival, and because she knew she could, she let herself in, calling out to him before making her way towards his kitchen to drop off the food. "Grant? I got us some dinner, are you hungry?" Even if he wasn't, he'd probably eat something because he'd consider it rude not to after she'd gone through the trouble of picking it up. So with that logic in mind, she pulled a couple of plates out of the cabinet and set them on the counter before heading deeper into the house on the search for her boyfriend. "Where are you, Baby?" A peek in the bunny room, showed he wasn't in there, but she paused briefly to give one of the occupants a quick scratch behind a soft ear.

Grant came out of his room, where he had been putting a card with the flowers. He should have gotten it all done before she arrived, but it had been a last minute sort of arrangement. At least he did have the flowers, he would have felt worse if he did not have a gift to thank her with.
Just for showing up, of course.
He saw her peeking into the room where his rabbits lived, and smiled. He kept it regularly cleaned and his rabbits were comfortable and happy, their attitudes improving over time. None of the three were as timid as they once had been and, some faster than others, were getting more used to people.
"You brought food! Thank you! It smells amazing too." He offered her the flowers with a very bright smile on his face. It was very easy for him to forget that he was upset or confused about anything at all. Everything seemed perfectly fine when she was around, and why wouldn't it?

Sounds and movement caught Lydia's attention, and she turned from the bunny room to spot Grant as he was coming out of his bedroom, and like always, the sight of that bright smile was enough to melt her heart. She didn't even notice the flowers until he was offering them to her, and she stared down at them both grateful and puzzled. "What are these for? They're lovely." She gave him a peck on the cheek, thought better of it, then caught his arm and pulled him in so she could catch his lips before moving back down the hall towards the kitchen and the delicious smell of Chinese take out. "Yep, I thought you might be hungry." He was a young man, they had veracious appetites. 90% of the time they were hungry. Now that she'd found him she finally let her coat slip off her shoulders, caught it, and draped it over the back of one of the chairs. The flowers were laid gently beside it. "So what's up, babe?" He hadn't been really clear on why he'd wanted her to drop by, and she curious. Not that it was weird for him to want to see her, or her him, but it had sounded like something was on his mind when she'd been talking to him on the phone. She helped herself to the silverware drawer, pulling out a pair of forks, then turned to watch him.

"They're for you! Because you're lovely." He chuckled, knowing the line was cheesy but liking it anyway. He was sincere, so it made it okay to sound like a hallmark card, right? He had not qualms about it, at least.
He gave her a kiss and nodded his head. Like any other man his age, food was on his mind a lot. His stomach grumbled and he chuckled, it sounding very loud to him though he was not sure she could hear it even at this short distance.
It always seemed like it was yelling, but he never heard other people's stomachs so maybe it was just in his head.
"Oh, it's okay! I was going to talk about some court stuff, but if you want to relax for a bit first we can do that, too. You only just got here!" He was downplaying, maybe, but it was difficult for him to admit that he was in need of help. Not because he didn't like being helped, but because he had to admit that he was upset.
And being upset was just not his thing.

Hazel eyes blinked at the reason applied to the flowers, but after a second a smile crept over pale features. Trust Grant to shower her with presents for no better reason then that he thought she was pretty. "You didn't have to," she insisted, voice carrying a tiny hint of exasperation intermingled with the more obvious flattery. She meant it when she said he didn't have to get her gifts, but that didn't mean she didn't like receiving them, or the attention that came along with it. She took her time opening the containers of carry out and shoveling the food into the two bowls, attention flicking between what she was doing and the young man standing close by. He sounded cheerful, but there was something off, a difference between now and his usual happy-go-lucky mannerisms. Something was up. "I don't mind, we can talk while we eat." Knowing him as she did, she knew he was playing as though there was nothing weighing on his mind, and she wasn't about to let him just nudge whatever it was under a rug. The bowls, now filled with Delicious and steaming Chinese, were carried to the table and set down, along with forks. Lydia sat down herself after helping herself to a glass of ice water, then nudged the care opposite her away from the table with her foot, indicating he should join her. Spearing a piece of chicken on her fork, she pegged her boyfriend with an intent look. "So what's up?"

Grant smiled knowingly. He knew he didn't have to do anything: that was the good thing about being a boyfriend. He liked everything he really did have to do, and loved doing all the extra things, too. He wanted to surprise her and make her happy, though he didn't notice when he was being overbearing or going too far.
He would need pokes about that.
Grant followed her to the table and sat down with her, setting up his dinner politely. He looked at her thoughtfully, then smiled.
"Well! I was thinking about... you know. Being Virtus and in the Dark Mirror Court. I really want to help, but I feel like I am making things worse when I want to fight and I really am trying not to do that. I want to help, and be as best as I can be. So I was hoping maybe... you might be able to help me get stronger but also focus on things that I can do to really contribute. Like healing. I think I would be really good as a partner, for healing and support."

Soft eyes trained upon Grant, Lydia took a few small bites of her food as she listened to the young man speak his mind, and it became clear why he'd called her. It was odd though, to hear him talking of his own concerns or troubles. She knew there were things that had to weigh on his mind, but he hardly even spoke of them. That he felt comfortable enough to share these worries with her meant something to the teen. "Getting stronger is important. You need to be able to protect yourself when you need to," she began, smiling softly before looking down at the bowl of rice and chicken before her, prodding gently at the contents. "But if you can avoid the fight, you should.." She tried to recall what it is she'd told him before. If she'd made the point to impress upon him that he needed to battle all those that shared their allegiance to the white moon. She didn't think so, but all the same. "I know you don't like to fight, so only fall to that option when words have failed." That didn't exactly address his entire concern though, and she drew the bud of her lower lip between her teeth, nibbling thoughtfully. "I think you're right. You're powers are supportive, not combative." She smiled, soft and quick. "They really suit you." Far better then her own, at the least.

Grant was not the kind of guy who burdened others with his worries and woes. Usually, he didn't even burden himself with them: he took life as it came with gusto and a love of life that didn't allow for negativity. He was still just as bright and happy as ever, but he was comfortable with her and he did want her to know where he stood.
And he appreciated her advice, trusting her completely.
"I'm glad you agree! I really just want to help our team improve as best we can and I think we can do that if we stick to the things we're good at. I'm a healer, so I want to heal those that need it and keep people safe! I'm learning how to defend myself, so I can at least stay in a battle longer than just getting myself knocked out or something. I'm sure I'll get better and better!"
He smiled brightly at her.

"I think you're right." She commented, grinning. It was good to see the burden of his worries slipping away. Grant wasn't the sort of person that ever deserved to have unpleasentness or strife thrust upon him. He was good natured and sweet, and his life should remain uncomplicated and, if not easy, certainly not hard. She took another bite of her chicken, milling over an idea she'd had brewing in her head for some time now. "While were on the subjet of helping people, I've been thinking." She paused, laying her fork down. "The warriors of the White Moon, from what I've seen and heard, occassionally divide themselfs into teams. Groups of senshi or knights with the same ambitions and beliefs." Leto had been a member of one, before her corruption. So had Ares, once upon a time, and Gaia, and Requiem. They had all been a part of the Blood Moon Court. "Anyways, maybe it would be a good idea for our court to start forming some teams. then we could focus on tasks better. Like energy gathering, or recruiting." The tips of her nails tapped along the table top. "What do you think? I was going to present then idea to Ares and Quinn."

"I thought we already did that?"
Grant was a little confused with how the Court worked, really. There didn't seem to be one big group, and they were told to work with each other. He supposed they didn't have teams with names and stuff, but there weren't that many of them, at least not as many as there were Senshi.
He titled his head in thought.
"Do you want to start a team? I wouldn't mind that! I think it might be helpful to have people we patrol with regularly, and get to know... so we know how to fight with them and can make ourselves better for it. I think that's a very good idea." He smiled brightly and nodded his head.

"Well kinda, but I mean like, official teams. Not just whomever we happen to be teaming up with at the time." She speared another bite of chicken on her fork and brought it up, waggling it at Grant as she spoke. "Something more organized, you know?" Point made, she popped the bite into her mouth and chewed. "I wouldn't mind starting a team, but I'd really like to get the input of Leto and Remarque before I actually do anything. I guess I was mostly just looking for your opinion." Though considering it was her idea, she wasn't at all surprised that his response was very supportive and positive. "See? That's what I mean. It'd be really good to get to know each other better now that the court is growing. And if the more powerful helped to teach and lead the newer recruits, it'd take a little strain off our fearless leaders." It was clear she'd put a lot of thought into her idea. Hopefully their two acting leaders would be as agreeable as her boyfriend. lithia_Brandon Would it be a good idea to start winding this one down?

Grant nodded his head, smiling at her brightly, with all the encouragement the world could offer shining in his eyes. He believed in everything she tried to do, and he would be behind her even if she told him she was going to try and replace every banana peel with leather.
"I think that would be a great thing for the Court! You should definitely run it by them! I'm sure Remarque would be more than interested in hearing about it!" He didn't have much interaction with Leto, and couldn't speak for her since he didn't know her.
He bounced excitedly.
"Thank you for coming over today. I feel much better now, and I'm glad you have a good idea, too! I'll help you with whatever you need, too, because I think being on a team would really help with my wanting to help the others, too!" So it all worked together.
