Reminder: these matches are one pokemon per person, but like a Gym battle you'll roll to see who goes first before sending out pokemon. It doesn't matter what order you post those introductory/order-rolling posts. The battlefields are a plain concrete floor, no bonuses or penalties to anyone. Remember to use only the pokemon originally entered in the tournament, using the bonuses what were entered at the time. In an effort to keep this round from dragging on, I will be instating a time limit: all battles must be concluded on 1 month's time. Any battles left unfinished on Dec. 19 will be ended, and person who posted last will be awarded the win.

Nyla walked up to the platform and surveyed the field, then her opponent. She had never seen him before but she was sure that he would be a tough opponent.
"Good luck!" She said cheerfully to the other trainer.

After it was determined that Nyla would go first, she didn't waste any time in sending out her Pokemon. "You can do it Twilight!" She said as she threw the Absol's Pokeball in the air and released her onto the field.

Walpurgis' eyes narrowed just slightly at the sight of his opponent. Her. She was one of the cops that had interfered with the pokemon center mission with Zinnia Hayes. A seething hatred began to build inside him, but he forced it aside. It wouldn't do any good to attack her here. This was a mission, and his personal feelings about the police were nothing before the mission. He put back on his facade. "Hey! Good luck today!" The thought of wishing a cop well made him physically sick, but he did what he needed to do. Pulling a pokeball off his belt, he sent out Gangrel - Satori might have been seen in that split second he had used her in front of the cop; better not to take chances. The mission was paramount.

Nyla thought for a second that the other trainer almost looked angry at her for a second. Which would be odd since the battle had just begun and she was sure that she had never met the man before. But when his furious expression disappeared, she brushed it off as a trick of light and turned to the battle instead.
"Thanks! Twilight, start off with Rock Smash!" Nyla shouted. Twilight faced the Rattata and charged forward, lowering her head in order to smash into the small rodent.

Gangrel was knocked back, and Walpurgis shouted out an order. "Ice Beam, Gangrel!" Twisting in mid-air, Gangrel's eyes shifted to a pale blue before he sent a burst of ice rocketing towards the absol.

"Reflect that with Magic coat!" It was a new move that Nyla taught Twilight and she wasn't sure if she could pull it off. The Ice beam looked particularly potent as the Absol stood her ground. Her coat sparkled with a mysterious light as the beam struck her body.

"Rock Smash, Gangrel!" The rattata landed on the wall and set off at a dead run to the frozen absol, spinning around before slamming his tail into the ice.

As the Rattata's tail slammed into the frozen Absol, Nyla could do nothing but watch as her Pokemon took damage. She hoped that she wouldn't be stuck in there for too long.

Faint cracks could be seen in Twilight's icy cage but the Rock Smashes were dealing significant damage. This Rattata was tougher than it looked and Nyla waited with anxiety for her Absol to break free.

The last attack broke the ice encasing Twilight and she lunged after Gangrel only to miss. She was aching all over from the repeated Rock Smash but she still stood tall and waited for her trainer's command.
Nyla knew at this point that they couldn't win this battle by brute force. They needed something more to help them along... "Twilight, use Swagger!"
Twilight huffed, wanting to strike back at the Rattata for hurting her so much but she obeyed. Staring the purple rodent now, she flipped back her head and wagged her tail in a saucy way.
