Paws pounded the cold earth as darkness crept across the sky. The trees were bare and Frithe was finally gone into hiding. The cold winter winds crept along the moorland as she sprinted across. Her breathing was heavy and thick battling to gasp for air as she pushed herself onward. She could not rest, not here at least. Here it was not safe to rest, the shadows would scoop you up faster then a fox in a kitten den. Even in the cold a distant roar could be heard and in the corner of her eyes she could see burning red blazes and feel the heat lick at her hind legs as she ran. It had happened so fast and she had no time to think. The others had told them to run but for some it was too late. No, she thought as she closed her eyes and forced herself to not look back. She had to go on, she had made a promise she had to keep.
"Frithe guide my paws in these days of darkness"
Her voice was raspy as she pushed past the clearing and into the tree line. Suddenly all was black and her eyes shot open. Her heart gave a quick thud and she stood up quickly and looked around. Her heart racing a minute and her breath trying to steady she realized she was back in the warren. She gave a big sigh and sat back down, these dreams had gotten worse but yet again she could not remember them. It was as though every time she woke in a startle they had disappeared with her awakening.
She shook her fur and gave her ears a quick cleanse before getting up and making her way out of the warm dens of the warren. She spotted a low tree with low hanging branches and decided to lay under there. She tucked in her paws and rested her head trying to huddle and keep warm while she recovered from the rude awakening. It was out in the dark here she almost felt comfort and solace in the quiet.
She listened as the wind whistled around her and soon found herself drifting into a dreamless sleep.

It had only been a couple of weeks since his arrival at the Down, and Rustlefoot was eager to please, and to be as useful as he could in his new home. Even in a big warren, where it would be easy to freeload, Rus couldn't bring himself to roll about and be lazy, so he'd inquired about the sorts of things a rabbit could do to help out. One of those things had been sentry duty, and why not? It wasn't a particularly dangerous job, because he'd been stationed close to the warren's entrances. Elil were never far off and an extra set of eyes on the look out was never a bad thing. Rus fancied himself as a good watcher, and watch he did.
He'd taken an evening watch, because he rather enjoyed the cool nights, finding his coat plush enough to handle the temperatures. Nighttime was such a different world, too, with its long shadows and the sky and stars above. He was not out to look at the stars, though, not tonight. Tonight he was stationed at the foot of the great tree that sat at the top of the down, quite near to several of the warren's entrances. So far it had been a blessedly quiet watch; not many elil ventured up onto the Down, or so they said, but sentries were still important.
The buck's heart began to pound when, suddenly, he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. He nearly set about an alarm, but quickly realized that the light-colored shape he was seeing was, in fact, another rabbit who had just exited the warren. One ear perked up sharply, and the other struggled to do the same. Was it another sentry? Someone out for fresh air?
Rus was too curious for his own good. Keeping low, he hopped over to the cover the other rabbit had taken, his whiskers twitching as he tried to see who it was, unaware that she'd already begun to fall asleep.
"Hello there? Are you a sentry as well?" he whispered into the dark, just barely able to see her beneath the branches. It would have been quite nerve wracking if they weren't still so close to the burrows.

As she slept she could almost barely hear a sound. Asleep and dazed she slowly started to process the sound and realized it was someone talking to her. She sleepily opened her eyes to a thick furred brown and white buck. She could just see his outline in the shadows but she found herself frozen and lost in his eyes. She opened her mouth but no words came out, she gave an awkward smile and flicked her ears. What was wrong with her she usually had no trouble talking or listening for that matter.
"Uhm no..I-I couldn't sleep very well thought some fresh air might have been some help"
She said softly as she looked away from him. She kept herself tucked under the tree, the warmth was to inviting to move. She looked back up at him his fur seemed well kept and his body very awake and alert. He must have been on sentry duty, yet she could not help but notice the way his ears sat on top of his head. She rather quite fancied his uniqueness. She finally got up and shook her fur and climbed out from under the tree, she thought it would be rather rude to hide from someone. Yet she was not familiar with him at all, she was quite new to the warren herself but surely he had come even after her?
"I'm sorry I must have disturbed your Sentry duty, my name is Hyz'roo"
She spoke with a kind voice and dipped her head in greeting. It wasn't often she encountered anyone on her late night trips out of the warren. Most sentry's saw her but kept their distance. Then again she rather preferred it that way but tonight seemed like to cold and dark of a night to not be spending it with company.
