Temperance had traveled for months hiding in any shelter from the terrible storm, his herd disbanded, he didn't even know if any of them had survived. He still stood strong, but he might never know what had happened to them. He was so far away from their land, there was no turning back. His heart felt heavy and empty in hi
s chest...

Finally, Temperance came to an area that was clear from the storm, he looked over the mountain pass, he could see the dark clouds from where he had came from in the distance. His heart, and mind felt heavy, and he had grieved for months over the loss of his herd. He still was torn between moving on or going back, but something in his gut told him it was hopeless to return. He kept on moving to where the clouds were brighter. Snow was starting to melt, and tiny blue flowers popped out from underneath the white blanket. Seeing something bright cheered him up, and he pranced around the snow kicking it up to reveal more of the flowers, for once in a very long time, his heart felt light again, he felt more alive again. He kicked up some more of the snow, he thought he saw something...different, but it could have been the sunlight playing tricks, it had been a long time since he had seen the sun, and soaking it in made him feel happy again and more like his old self.

Tawingo lay quietly in the cool white fluff on the ground. It had snowed last night, and she had drifted off while trying to stay awake and watch it's fall. Normally she would have moved under her favorite oak, or climbed into one of the flower bushes to rest. It was dangerous to just lay about anywhere. Especially if she was in her tiny frail flutter form! She knew many of small critters that came to her field, and never wanted to be a bother to them.

As it would happen today though, she would nearly get stepped on! Abruptly, she awoke as the snow was wiped clear off her head. "O-ohh!" she exclaimed with a startle, cowering back to the ground. "Pardon me! I'm so sorry!" Not only had she woke up quickly, but she hadn't the chance to open her eyes carefully. The cells on her eyes had torn, and for the moment, she couldn't see a thing! Part of her thought to pop into her larger formed self, but she didn't want to hurt whatever critter was there with her.

Temperance stopped hearing the small voice that seemed to come from under the snowy flowers, he looked around startled. "Hello?" he called out. Nothing was around him. He lowered his head, his loneliness was getting to him. Just when he was starting to feel better, his loneliness again swept over him. He looked away from the snowy flowery field, and began to walk away, feeling as if he was traveling into more and more loss.

Tawingo froze for a moment upon hearing the voice above her. It had to be a males voice, and seemed kind, yet lost under the startle in his greeting.

As she prepared to respond, she heard him begin to move away. A panic set in over her. Why would they be leaving so soon? "P-please! Don't go.." she tapered off, not sure why she would want them to stay. Not being able to see the soquili that stood there, left her feeling very confused.

It might make sense that he couldn't see her. He had moved away by the sound of it. Taking a small gamble, she mustered her strength, and pushed her self into a larger form. A puff of white snow exploded around her, unable to cling to her as her size rapidly grew.

Her eyes were still clouded and she couldn't see a thing. She called out cautiously: "H-hello?" Every ounce of her hoped they would stop and return her call. If not, she understood, and would continue on with her day.

Temperance stood still, embracing the cloud of snow that had seemed to come out of no where. His ears stood aback and his eyes fixated on what might appear out of this snowy burst. Finally the snow started to settle. He could see the something of bright red, similar to the color of the flowers covered in snow. The snow settled more and it appeared to be another Soquili. How could this be? He thought. There was nothing out here a minute ago except for that small voice, but it seemed so far away. The snow finally fell revealing a beautiful soquili standing before him. He was breathless, he had never seen a soquili so small, and with wings. He blinked, thinking that he was starting to see things in his sorrows. But the soquili blinked as well. Shaking his head and trying to come out of his bewilderment, he began to speak. "Hello, are you ok?" My name is Temperance, I don't mean you any harm," he waited for her to speak.

Tawingo smiled and sighed at the same time, in a very relieved noise. "I am just fine. Hello Temperance." she uttered a simple greeting to start, but her face held a joyous expression. She was happy that there was someone there, and everything seemed to be alright.

"My name is Tawingo. I pray I didn't startle you too much? I should take care not to fall asleep out in the open. Normally I sleep closer to the large oak over there." She spouted out a gentle excuse, mildly embarrassed. Her eyes blinked and fluttered, trying to see still. It hurt to blink, meaning there was some minor eye damage. Before afternoon, she should start to be back to normal. The more she blinked, things appeared in blurred images depending on the moisture in her eyes. Winter was a dry season and it did not help her condition at all. She knew all too well how it could be easily obvious that she was blind at the moment. She tried her best to keep it unnoticeable, but was likely failing at doing so.

Temperance listened as she spoke her voice was beautiful and delicate. He couldn't help but notice her eyes blinking, it was cute. He starred mesmerized by her, her small wings fluttered a bit while she spoke. He had never seen a Soquili with wings. Soon her blinking eyes began to distract him. He didn't want to interrupt her but he began to worry. "I don't mean to interrupt you but your eyes seem to be watering a lot, can I help you in any way? I don't mean to offend you, you just seem in discomfort." He nuzzled closer to her, waiting for what she would say.

Tawingo grew flush in her cheeks, causing them to turn a dark shade of purple. She was slightly embarrassed but only a little. It couldn't be helped, he was so polite. Even if he had noticed that she was struggling. "O-o-oh." she stuttered softly, dipping her head bashfully. "I-I'm okay. Please, don't worry. It's only a temporary blindness. It happens sometimes, but I know my way around this field without the aid of my eyes!" she got confidant with a slight raise in her voice. There was no reason for anyone to worry about her. She could handle her own. "I mean..I'm not discomforted." Much.. Discomfort came not from the inability to see, but more that her eyes were a little dry. This wasn't something she intended to try and explain. She wouldn't complain either. The slight discomfort was something she had become used to, and it really didn't bother her.

There were other ways to see things too. Touch was a big one for her. "I can still see without my eyes. Would you like me to show you?" she said with a smile in her voice. The flush in her cheeks was gone by now, and she was calm again. Tiny lady bug wings twitched then rested back at her side. All the while, she remained standing where she was.

Temperance admired her confidence. She was very beautiful, he could see redness in her eyes. "Before you show me how you can see without your eyes, would you smell this flower with me, just like you it is wonderful to see so much color within this snow covered land." The flower was covered with some melting snow, and Temperance hoped if she got close enough the snow would sooth her eyes, and he desired to get closer to her. He put his muzzle close to hers and guided it down toward the flower, brushing her a bit closer to the melting snow.
