What is a co-host? A co-host is someone who staffs a room during the ball. There are generally three to five co-hosts in each room, although a room may have more or fewer, depending on the situation in each particular room. A co-host will have an official character, and direct the flow of the roleplay along with the room host and secondary host during the ball. Co-hosts will be expected to help in the planning of the room, though they will not have as much responsibility as the room host and secondary host. They may or may not be asked to run a game or contest during the ball.
How can I apply? Each room has a subforum. They are the ones with host names and themes written on them. If you look in each room, there will be an application form. These are relatively short, easy forms. After each room thinks they have enough applicants and have given everyone ample time to apply, the room hosts and secondary hosts will work together to choose who they want to work with them in their room.
Is it alright to apply in more than one room? Most people usually apply in two rooms, just in case they don't get accepted as a co-host in their first choice for a room. Having more than three applications out will be a nuisance to the rooms, so please don't put more than that in. You could also apply in just one room if you don't think you have enough competition to warrant putting in another application. Room hosts tend to choose people who are active and friendly first. Don't feel bad if you don't get chosen in one room you wanted. There are usually more great and wonderful applicants for a room than there are positions available. Since each room will choose their co-hosts at different times, make sure you let the other rooms where you applied know right away if you are accepting a co-host position in another room.
Can I be a co-host in more than one room? The answer to this is no. You may only be a co-host in one room. The News Room has different rules, and you can find out more about the News Room by posting in the chatting thread in the News Room subforum. Remember, being a co-host in one room will not exclude you from helping out in the News Room.
What else do I need to know? Each room is different, and each co-host experience will be different. You might be asked to leave your comfort zone a bit, but rest assured that no one is going to throw you out to the wolves. This is a fun experience, so don't stress too much about what you think you can and can't do. If you don't think you'll be able to commit to being a co-host, ask around in the rooms. You might be able to get a position as an NPC or something. Everything always works out in the end.
I didn't get accepted into the rooms I applied in. Don't be discouraged. You can still be accepted as an official room roleplayer. For more information on what that is keep reading:
I was told that I'm an Official Room Roleplayer. What does that mean? It can be a bit hazardous to have too many official characters in one room, so rooms set limits to how many co-hosts they can accept. Anyone who didn't get chosen as a co-host and is still interested in working in a particular room can become an Official Room Roleplayer. If you become one, you will still participate in the planning, but you will not have a character and a regular part in the plot like the co-hosts. However, lots of things can change over the course of a year, and these roles often get changed up as people leave for one reason or other. Often, Official Room Roleplayers eventually end up being co-hosts or NPCs by the end, but remember that it's not always a certain thing. If you really want to stay in a particular room, embrace your role as an Official Room Roleplayer. If you want to be a co-host right away and don't care which room you're in, you can still apply in other rooms that are taking applications. Note, you don't have to give up your role to TRY for another role. You just have to give up the old one if you successfully obtain a new one that you like better.
I missed the co-host applications! Can I still be a co-host? Yes! Regardless of when you apply, you'll always have a chance. People drop out of the ball all year long for various reasons, so there are always gaps that need to be filled. If you're not sure which rooms need extra help, just ask in here. We can point you in the right direction.

Your two hosts are Spottedteddybears and Symbolon. They are playing Rose Red (from Snow White and Rose Red, a fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm) and the Cheshire Cat (from Alice's Adventure in Wonderland), respectively.
The setting is an overgrown park/garden.
This will be a dark room. There's no doubt about it. How dark we'll decide once we start planning, but it will be dark. 8D

♥rp skills ( how long you've been rping, literacy level ) :: I usually post about a paragraph every time, not too long but more than a sentence or two. People will bother to read them because I write beautifully. I have been roleplaying for at least three years, on top of which I have written two novels that I'm trying to get published. I am extremely literate, and I love fantasy books. Once again, if you doubt me, just ask Inky or Hexcat. I'm in an extended roleplay with both of them, so they can vouch for me.

I'm able to keep my posts well-written but to the point - I won't go on about a rock just to get in a certain amount of paragraphs. I've been roleplaying for about three years now.
♥why you would make a great cohost :: God, I'm horrible at bragging.... I'm just too humble, I guess. I love to read and so I'll be more than happy to brush up on the plots of these books. ♥past experience with the ball :: Um, I've roleplayed in three balls (8,9,10), helped in the last two, had a couple of official positions, and done art stuff, mostly. And other fundraising stuff. I roleplayed in the Camp NSTG thing! But other than that, not much sweatdrop
♥average time online :: Daily, I'm on from 1-3 hours. Um. I'm on early in the morning (6 am EST), and in the afternoon (2-3 pm), and then the evening (7-9pm)
♥rp skills ( how long you've been rping, literacy level ) :: Well, I keep proper grammar! While that doesn't actually raise my literacy level, it certainly makes me look smarter! xD Um, anyways. I've been rping for a couple of years now - 3? 4? My literacy level is kind of high? I've always had trouble making the three-four paragraph size for the extremely high levels, though. So, pretty literate, but somewhat concise?
♥why you would make a great cohost :: Is this a college application or something? loljk Um. I am rather good at being sophisticated characters, because I like to use long words and proper grammar. I'm supportive and cheerful, so I would be... good for morale? That didn't really come out how I liked, but the message is clear. ♥average time online :: Daily, for about 3-4 hours (about 5-7 and 8-9 CST) *amazed at amount of time* . . . Wow . . . really?
♥rp skills ( how long you've been rping, literacy level ) ::I believe that my literacy level is semi-literate, however I do tend to show signs of mirror literacy. I've been rping for about two years. Since I sometimes tend to mimic the length and grammar of my fellow roleplayers, I think that I can make my posts well written yet easy to understand.
♥why you would make a great cohost :: Even though I have not been a cohost before, I think that I would make a great cohost because I'm organized and do intensive research on my rp topics. Also, even though I only have 2 years of rp experience, I have been writing all sorts of stories and novels-to-be. And writing is almost the same as roleplaying . . . it just has more people involved in making the plot. (Which makes it that much more fun! heart)

♥average time online :: I'm on daily! Usually about 1-3 hours on weekdays, 2-5 hours on weekends, and about an hour on Tuesdays...
♥rp skills ( how long you've been rping, literacy level ) :: I've been rp-ing for about a year or so. I can make my posts anywhere from one-liners to about 2-3 paragraphs. But usually, I keep it to 3-5 sentences. My literacy is pretty high on good days. I'd say I'm semi-literate.
♥why you would make a great cohost :: I may not have been a co-host before, but I'm extremely organized and good at formatting! I can contribute art, awesome role-playing skills, and fresh blood! I can connect with the newer Gaians because I'm darn new myself in comparison to some of you guys! There has been a date change. A date change.
The new date for cohost apps to close is going to be December 8th. The new date for the cohosts to be announced is December 9th.
It's only because I realized that I would have too much on my hands to actually go around accepting cohosts and doing all that snazz in our room while doing the secret santa stuff. the last thing I want is to get mixed up, right? So the dates have been moved to one week closer.
