Every time she summoned her, every single time, Ofelia found that Rue just screamed and screamed. Without being summoned she was just a quiet space in her brain, never speaking or making any sound, so it was almost easy enough to forget she was even there. It was when the screaming started that the teen remembered, and it was then that she also wished Rue away.
Sure, she should be and was (generally) thankful for the shield and healing abilities Rue provided, but was a headache and ringing ears really worth it? No, no it wasn't, and so the sun hunter decided to maybe have a talk with her weapon. Talking to her inside her skull did nothing, Rue didn't answer, and so the day had seen to an end with Ofelia in the cafeteria.
Rue had been taken off her wrist and was sitting on the table, her broken and bent charms scattered around a really tarnished chain. Before the accident Rue had been shiny, amazing even, but after Ofelia was nearly killed the weapon had reappeared in this state. It was. . .horrible, of a sort, and Ofelia sighed as she looked at the pieces.
What was she supposed to do now?

Harrison sat down across from Ofelia, sliding a tray of mystery-fish pasta salad glop down in his own place.
He wasn't too picky about eating company, and Ofie was a Sun.
He nodded briefly in greeting before forking up a mouthful and popping his water bottle open.
He looked at Ofelia's side of the table, which was empty of food. It did have a busted up piece of jewelry, which Ofie was watching with glum and distant despair.
"You break your bracelet?" Harrison asked.

Ofelia. . . well, it took her a second to figure out who had come and sat near her. Most people avoided her in the cafeteria because her food smelled weird and she was usually covered in injuries, so she squinted her eye at this newcomer and was trying so hard to place him when he spoke. Then she knew who he was. . . only because she uh. . .sort of recognized his voice from her usual can't sleep evening rounds.
So she answered because it was the right thing to do. "Nope. Rue."
Rue was a bracelet but that was totally beside the point. The teen poked at a bent and twisted charm with a fingertip, slightly moving it forward. The silence in her head at how she was treating her weapon's remains made her . . . smile-frown. Which meant her face twitched a bit.
Also what was he eating there was no way that was something she'd have made. It looked. . . like it could come alive at any moment and take off someone's head.

"What was that?" Harrison asked, not understanding. "Ru-what? Ruined?"
He looked at it more closely.
"Doesn't look so bad. Hard to keep things intact around here. ...It get messed up on mission or back when we had to stay in the bunker?"

"No no, not ruined - Rue. This 'ere's mah weapon's unsummoned form." Ofelia moved another link with her finger, sort of spelling out different things. Some links had been broken in two, others just bent at odd angles, and she moved them into and out of piles effortlessly. It was sort of a game, to push her weapon like this when Rue was usually the one pushing.
Except like, well, it was a weird feeling. Pushing sort of made her skin crawl, so weird and awkward and weird. Yup. "Dunno if she's really broken or jus' torn up, but either way Ah dun hear her voice 'cept fer when she screams at me."
Like during spars. Ofelia could totally sleep at night though.

"Holy s**t," he said, looking at the bracelet. "Sorry. She okay? ...Does she, uh, always look like that?"
He couldn't imagine a weapon only screaming, but- he scanned Ofie again.
Harrison shifted in his chair, "I remember her. She's a couple of...wolverine-knuckle dusters, right? You still using her like a long-distance weapon?"

At the apology, the ten only shrugged. She had no idea why he was apologizing and therefore didn't really take offense? It was hard to tell, but eventually Ofelia finally stopped pushing the pieces around and just gathered them into one massive pile. Slowly she started to hook them back together, though it was clear that any sudden movements would send the pieces scattered back to the table's surface. "No, not really? Usually she's all kinds'a shiny an' has way more charms than this. An' the charms aren't broken, an' they look like everyone Ah knew it's kinda cool but now she jus' looks gross."
When she wasn't just a million pieces Rue had actually looked really pretty. She was the one item of jewelry that Ofelia hadn't minded wearing.
"Long distance? Uh. . . . ?" Ofelia tilted her head to the side, tryin' ta think. " . . .Ah dunno or really remember whatcher talkin' 'bout, sorry. Ah tend ta use her like brass knuckles mostly cause throwin' her takes effort and she screams more." The one time she had thrown her had been a single use only event, back when she was a newbie trainee, and it had turned into a major mistake that cost her precious hours of sleep.

"Yeah, glad to hear she's staying on your knuckles. Can she talk? Or is she just like- a banshee or something." Harrison normally didn't pry, but he didn't like to see a weapon- and especially a Sun's weapon, hurting.
If she was hurting.
Maybe she was just changing- rust and cobwebs and skulls weren't bad in Halloween.
He just knew B0nez's preferences where that was concerned.

"Ta be honest, Ah dunno. She doesn't talk ta me, even when Ah call her - an' her form prior wasn' a banshee. She's a boo hag, which. . .Ah think is some kinda demon ghoul who wears people's skins?" The teen had done some brief research on her weapon's type, not to mention seeing her in the golem form.
"Ahh, yeah see, normally even when Ah talk 'bout her, be it good or bad, she says sommin'. Right now Ah get nothin', but it - " The teen flicked her wrist and Rue summoned herself onto her hands, the screaming starting up in her ears. Ofelia visibly winced, covering them with her palms while the blades poked out like silly ear accessories. "Uhh....an' she's screamin'. Ah take it yer unable ta hear her?"
It would have been so nice if he could hear her.

"I mean, no more than you can hear B0nez playing BooPac," Harrison said. He was used to the steady background music when nothing interesting was going on. B0nez kept himself occupied going through Harrison's files- whatever that meant. Harrison was an open book where B0nez was concerned.
He felt B0nez's interest at his name, though.
Demons, B0nez said. If he had eyes, he would have rolled them.
He looked at the knuckle dusters thoughtfully.
"You ever tried polishing her? B0nez felt sick for a while- that helped us both get some sleep."

It was stupid for Ofelia to ask Harrison questions with Rue summoned because she couldn't hear over all the screaming dammit. Her weapon was dismissed into its pretty pile of whatever just in time for Ofelia to catch the tail end of what Harrison was saying, and she knit her brow downward in confusion.
"Poli-what? Ya mean keepin' her clean?" Ofelia thought she did a pretty decent job. . .well, up until the point where Rue was now in pieces like this on the table in front of her. "Ah always took her off when Ah showered, if that means anythin'? Or do ya mean cleanin' her in her weapon form?"
That...was actually something she hadn't done. Hmmm. The redhead had never figured her weapon needed cleaned, seeing as Rue delighted in FEAR and also Ofelia was sort of lazy about things like cleaning her weapon.
Yup.

"You clean the gunk off, right, but putting oil on's more like...a weapon massage. You know, pamper her a little. They got kits for it at the quartermaster's."
He continued to eat the casserole, sympathetic.
"Other thing is like- you know, quality time. B0nez likes videogames and movies and s**t. You got any idea what Rue's into?"

Ofelia nodded her head to what Harrison was saying, all the while watching him shovel that nasty looking lord-knows-what into his mouth. Eventually she'd get fed up and drag him into the kitchen and make him something decent to eat, but for now the talk was on weapons and cleaning and other things she hadn't really cared about.
"It'd be kinda hard ta have her weapon form out an' clean her if all she does is scream when summoned, yanno." She casually mentioned, totally making a very valid point. Just that small summoning she'd done before still had part of her ears ringing, though maybe the screaming would stop if she was being cleaned. It was always worth a try, right?
At the question of what Rue liked, Ofelia sort of...balked. That was awkward, how would she phrase it politely? "She likes verbally abusin' me ta the point where Ah lash out at others in an attempt ta get them ta believe me 'bout her, only ta take massive delight an' pleasure when people call me a liar an' dun believe me." Or, you know, she could just say it straight out. The teen grinned awkwardly to try and brush that off. "Otherwise, Ah dunno. She doesn' like talkin' ta me much except ta tell me how much she hates me an' how her only use fer me is chaos, or sommin' like that. Ah know we should get along better but it's hard."
Whoa Ofelia, were you....whining?
