Hello my friends, I find myself unsure about some things currently going on in my life and think some outside advice might be welcome.

I'm currently in school for the next two years and because of this money is now very tight. I have moved back home with my parents and things have been strained. I think we both (myself and my parents) have gotten used to the idea of my not being there and are finding it difficult to mesh our daily routines together. It's very kind of them to have me home and at a much more affordable price than if I were to be out on my own but between school and home life stress I am finding myself at my wits end.

I will be able to survive if I were to move back out but things would be incredibly tight, leaving no room for entertainment (dinner out, movies, etc) and I wouldn't be able to do anything in the way of savings at all.

Has anyone found themselves in this situation before? Any advice? <3

It really depends on what you're willing to give up.

Does your desire to avoid stress with your family outweigh your desire to save money and have extra on hand to go out and do fun things?

There are ways to have fun without spending a lot of money. One is riding buses to parks or nature preserves and take a walk. Another is picnicking.

You might check out this link. Not everything on there is a fun thing to do to save money, but it's a pretty extensive list.

How long have you been back home? It takes a while to mesh schedules. You might just need to give it some more time.

Really good advice - been home since before the summer now and haven't really gotten back into the swing of things as it were.

I would wait it out at least a year. Hopefully, things get better.
What are the major problems with your schedules?

Are there any other family members? Living with both parents (as opposed to a single parent) must be difficult because of space. You've also had a taste of independence. Are they treating you like a kid?

What is the main thing causing stress? Is this something you can discuss with your parents?

One of the hardest thing I think when you move back home, is moving from that parent/child relationship to a we are all adults, not just on their side but on yours as well.
