Two Dark Mirror Senshi down.

Not that Ganymede was keeping a tally. He did like to keep names and faces in mind for future reference, because you never know when that knowledge might come in handy, but meeting as many of them as he possibly could wasn’t all that important to him. Sure, he was interested in figuring out how many there were, and maybe how to stop them from multiplying or breeding or however they were made. He just didn’t usually make it a point to go out searching for one so that he could make another notch on his bedpost or something weird like that.

It helped that he didn’t have any bedposts. It also helped that he just didn’t care so long as they stayed out of his way and didn’t cause any trouble.

When the city was quiet, his confidence grew, and Ganymede could go out on patrols without fear—or, at least, without too much of it. He still worried. He didn’t think there’d come a time when he wouldn’t, not until the war was over, and since that didn’t seem as if it would be happening any time soon he figured he should get used to worrying. But he could be a little more lax, take it slow and not feel so keyed up, multitask with some homework or ballet practice.

Tonight he was just wandering aimlessly. He’d already dispatched a weakling of a youma about half an hour ago and was considering turning around and going back home to turn in for the night. The city seemed as peaceful as it would ever be these days, and he supposed that was as much as he could hope for.

Alright then. He’d call it a night.

The night was coming to a close, and for the most part, Mimi hadn't really done anything. She had chosen to mostly mirror walk around run around the city, exercising. It wasn't one of those night she really felt like doing what she was supposed to. Sure, there was sometimes where she'd take some energy from a hobo, but other than that, the night was spent pondering.

It was the first time she was so confused about something like that. There was a part of her that craved control over people, but at the same time, it didn't seem like it was a good idea. "What if it made me do things badly as a civilian?"

Mimi knew she grew up being polite and would never do something like that if they were polite back, but was it possible for her to lose her cool again? She hoped that a lot of people didn't act like that one page did. "She's a disgrace to both sides of this battle!"

When she had said that, Mimi hadn't paid attention that she had approached a White Moon Senshi. She paused, blinking, as she saw the person. It was definitely the first time she met them and was confused. They had really nice hair and wings that were white instead of black like Remarque's. Mimi didn't know if they heard her say that; she knew that it was rude to just stand there, but she didn't know what to say.

Ganymede felt the other senshi before he saw her, and he had to take a moment to wonder what it was with the weaker ones just randomly popping up in the area and deciding to talk to him. He was pretty sure he hadn’t invited any of the attention—at least not knowingly. All he did was mind his own business—usually—and somehow or another someone else happened to amble by.

Not that he minded. It wasn’t like they were really bothering him.

Well, this one wasn’t.

Yet.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” he asked, shifting his weight—slight as it was—from one foot to the next as he turned to face the other senshi more fully.

She had to be another one of the Dark Mirror ones, he decided. Of course, he’d felt that about her before his gaze had fallen on her, though he supposed she could have been one of the normal corrupted ones if she didn’t feel a bit… different. That, and he made sure to notice the absence of any holes in her chest or head. She was, as far as he could see, completely intact, except her brain had probably been messed with quite a bit if she went around taking orders from Crazy Lady Ares.

Ganymede rolled his eyes at the thought, failing to realize—or care—that his guest would likely see it.

"Sorry, I wasn't talking to you," Mimi said, turning around to face the Senshi. It was then she started to ramble, trying to clear her own head. "...Fought this girl the other day... Fought dirty... Was supposed to be 'Order' aligned... A disgrace to both Chaos and Order!"

Mimi's thoughts finally caught up with her. "It's not like I support the ideas of people Order aligned... That girl just deserves to die, and she was from your side!" The first time that her battle had really drawn blood was from that fight, and she couldn't even call it much of a fight. It took her a while to realize that she was being rude and stopped talking.

"I apologize again for rambling. I'm just highly irritated." She gave the Senshi a slight bow. "It's only polite to introduce myself. I am Mimistrobell, DMC Senshi of Nightshade."

Why Mimi was telling him so much, she didn't know. Maybe it would make up for the bits of rambling she did. It was just that the girl preoccupied her mind so much and there was times were she wished she killed the girl. It would have been hard living with that the rest of her life, since she was still young, but all that rang through Mimi's head was 'but still'.

Even as Mimi looked at the Senshi, she couldn't help but think of dignity and honor. "See, if you were to strike me now, and if I fought honorably and still lost... it would still be a fight worth fighting. But that girl! Grr!"

“Ganymede, Lust,” Ganymede replied in turn. He didn’t bother with any of the other formalities, since his power level should be obvious with the wings on his a**, and the energy reading he gave of was clearly a “good” one.

He paused a moment after that, taking in the girl’s rambling as he stared at her.

Another odd one. Weren’t these people supposed to attack first and talk later? When had they gotten so… polite? She’s just bowed to him. No one bowed to him. He didn’t really want them to. It made him feel uncomfortable, because he certainly never bowed to anyone—not his enemies, not his allies, not the Moon Queen or any other royalty out there. Bowing just… seemed like too big a sign of respect, and he didn’t really expect anyone to show him respect. He wanted it, sure. He even thought he deserved it sometimes, but he didn’t expect it.

“Lucky for you, I’m not in a fighting mood,” he said, unsure if he should be wary or if it was alright to let his guard down around this one.

Not being in a fighting mood was probably lucky for him, too, though he was stronger so didn’t logic dictate that he’d have the upper hand? Still, he didn’t want to chance it. Just because the lower level ones were weaker power-wise didn’t mean they couldn’t play dirty or be more physically aggressive than he was.

“Wait, who are you even talking about?” Ganymede wondered. Should he be curious? He kind of was. It was always nice to know who the other side thought of as a ‘disgrace,’ so long as that disgrace wasn’t him. “Who fights dirty?”

It kind of bugged Mimi on the Ganymede's attitude towards her, but tried not to think too much into it. They were of opposite sides and even though she was indiscriminate in offering courtesy, she know that others would not think the way she did.

"At least he's good at listening." Mimi wasn't even sure why she was so open to telling Ganymede. It was probably because she was worn out and distracted. After tonight, who knew if they'd see each other again. She smiled at him, grateful. "Thanks for not kicking my butt. I'm pretty sure you could."

Mimi wouldn't tell him though that after they parted that she was most likely gathering more energy from bums. At least she wasn't bugging him, right?

"Some Page of Chronos that I ran into." Mimi realized two things at that point. The first one was that she never even bothered to memorize the girl's name; if they ever met again, she'd probably just address her as 'rat', even if they were re-introduced. The second one was that girl was probably the only person she truly hated. Sure, she didn't trust a lot of people, but hate was a strong word.

She looked Ganymede in the eye. "I've ran into more people like you, people that are more powerful than myself. If I had to fight them, I would. If I knew I was out-skilled by said person, I'd lose with dignity. That--" She wasn't sure at that point if the girl even deserved to be called page. "Girl... She turned the fight into some sort of cat fight."

Mimi's expression was one of the utmost disgust, even with just the thought of that fight again.

“Ah, Chronos,” Ganymede observed.

Did it make him a b***h that he was slightly more sympathetic toward this girl once he knew the origin of this page she was referring to? It probably did, but he didn’t really care. That name, no matter who it was used in reference of, had rubbed him the wrong way since the Surrounding the year before. He was a little less sore about it these days. He didn’t go out of his way to be particularly insulting on his own, but when it came up… well, no one could blame him for making the most of it, right?

“Can’t say I’m too surprised, honestly,” he went on. “I remember when the knights of Chronos started popping up, or at least I don’t think there was one before that. Could be wrong. I don’t remember any of them being all that aggressive, though. I only remember them hovering around their princess. Quite a common theme with them, it seems.”

That hadn’t been too mean, had it?

Yes? No? Maybe?

Oh, what did he really care?

He should try to get over it. He was all for trying to gain some level of maturity, but he couldn’t help the way he felt now any more than he could have then. It wasn’t really a vendetta. There was no active feud going on as far as he could tell, so by all rights he should have been able to get over it by this point, but the disagreement had happened and it had quite a bit to do with what he believed now and how he responded to royalty in general. It was hard to just let it go, even though he knew he should have by now.

“I’d hope anyone who out-matched you would have some compassion and go easy on you,” Ganymede said, “but that’s probably wishful thinking. Although, you can’t say you guys always fight with honor or whatever. Mothra played a dirty trick and ran off when she didn’t like how the fight was going. She started it, by the way. And the other one… the smooth-talker… he threw a kid. A kid. How is that not a disgrace?”

It wasn't a surprise to Mimi that Ganymede knew of Chronos. He probably didn't know that girl she had been with, but Mimi shrugged it off. She knew that her particular opponent had been new, but didn't know that many were new. "I didn't know that they're a relatively new group... I hope the other ones are not as disgraceful as her."

"Well, I greeted her with a mirror-wraith," Mimi paused before speaking more. "It's not like it hurt or anything. When I was about to leave, she wanted to stop me, as... It normally is. It was obvious she couldn't fight at all. Scratching, hair pulling..."

The memory of that night flashed through her head again, and softly but monotonous, she continued. "I almost... Killed her because she angered me so much..." It was the first time she ever mentioned that to anyone. Mimi didn't even realize until after she whispered her secret that she had told someone. "Sorry... Rambling again."

Mimi could at least say she knew how it felt to want to do something for a princess. She was devoted herself, of course, but it was never 'hovering', just getting things done. "I don't think there's any need of mentioning that..."

She paused and blinked when Ganymede mentioned mentioned 'going easy'. "No, I wouldn't want that," she thought aloud. "You gain more for losing right? I don't mind getting beat up as long as they don't kill me. Though..." Mimi wasn't sure if the next bit was a good idea, but continued anyways.

"I'm sorry that a few of my comrades fought dirty with you or others, but rest assured, I'm not one of them. At least, I won't let myself be one of them." Mimi sounded really sure of herself, and everything was true, at least for now. "Well, that holds true as long as the person I'm fighting isn't fighting dirty."

“I think your definition of ‘fighting dirty’ might need a little work,” Ganymede responded.

This girl seemed… not quite meek, but she wasn’t immediately jumping into action, which wasn’t exactly what he was used to but certainly not something he was against either. He didn’t quite get where she was coming from given that, in his experience, the other side was comprised of the truly dirty fighters, whereas his side was simply littered with a few unfortunate failures—although his idea of what constituted a failure might be a bit different than someone else’s.

Despite her current willingness to talk, Ganymede didn’t expect this girl to be much different than the others. She was probably too lost to her delusions to find any help in a dose of reality.

“Scratching, hair pulling… that’s not always fighting dirty. Sometimes that’s all people know how to do,” he said. He couldn’t believe he was sort of defending anyone in any way connected with Chronos, but he wasn’t the best fighter himself, nor did he care so much about the honor in battle. What he cared about was surviving.

“We’re not all trained fighters,” he pointed out. “Some of us don’t want to be. We didn’t ask to be awakened, we didn’t ask to be thrown into a war that isn’t even our fault, but here we are. We all have our own reasons for fighting. We do what we need to to get by, we draw from what we know, from the mistakes that we’ve made, and we try to adapt. We do the best we can with what we’ve got. One person’s best might just be different from someone else's. But that’s sort of the point. We’re not like you. We’re not mindless drones following orders from higher ranking people, or some crazy princess who was probably already crazy enough to begin with, what with the killing and the torturing. Should have seen that one coming, I guess.”

Ganymede shrugged. The sympathy and compassion he might have felt inklings of just moments ago was quickly being replaced with doubt and a sort of hopeless disappointment.

“You wanted to kill her because she made you angry?” he wondered, frowning deeply. “How does that make you any better than her? How does that give you the right to go out and preach against her kind of fighting?”

Mimi shrugged at Ganymede. She didn't want to be rude to him, but had to defend her stance. Sure, she was one of them that wanted to be of help, but it's not like she came into all of this knowing how to fight either. She had watched people fight, and she had learned, even if it was just a little bit.

"Pretty sure most people have seen fights before. Even heard of them." All those movies... Boxing... Even those fights that break out randomly because of rivalries. "There's too many ways to know of what fighting is it's hard for me to defend scratching, hair-pulling, and straight out clinging. That is, unless all that girl knew of was those reality TV shows where they put the most tasteless women."

"I'm not a born or trained fighter. Never was. I was protected by others my first few times, even beat up." She remembered others of her faction helping her along, even some Negaverse officers. "But I would never throw myself out there with long nails and grabbing." All of those things just seemed so desperate to her. "I have been taking the time to learn, even if it's slow and I'll get beat up more along the way."

She looked at Ganymede. "I know for certain that there are some on both sides that don't want to fight. Honestly, find something else to help your faction with!" Mimi knew that another of the DMC didn't want to fight, but instead support and she knew that was still a good thing to do.

Mimi was sort of ashamed and wouldn't defend what happened. "You talk to me like I didn't feel bad about it." It was one of those times where she had lost control of herself. At least she knew that much. She wanted to tell him that she was looking for an honest fight, but how honest could a fight be amidst a war? "I wasn't the first to attack. She was. Since I avoided her first attack, she grabbed my hair. I tried to kick her off, she grabbed my leg. Do you see the chain of events now?"

"Well, they are of the same side so I guess they would defend each other." Mimi knew that just that information alone played a large part on how both of them would think, but, at least for the time being, she wouldn't think of that.

“The only thing that chain of events tells me is that you’re well on your way to going crazy,” Ganymede replied, “if you aren’t crazy already, which, honestly, I haven’t decided yet. I figure you’re all a little crazy deep down, even if you seem normal at first.”

He’d already met… how many of them now? And not just these Dark Mirror senshi, but the corrupted ones and the Negaverse as well. Not a lot. He wasn’t the most social being as a senshi, and he tended to keep himself a bit removed from the thick of things. But he’d had his fair share of encounters, and none of them had ever really struck him as “normal.” What normal person seriously went around contemplating killing someone else?

Well, so much for this one. She wasn’t throwing one of their mad chaos tantrums yet, but he expected she had it in her somewhere. If he contradicted her enough, he could bet he’d see a spark of it at some point.

“I don’t really care who attacked who first,” he said with another shrug. “Not really as important to me as who decided it’d be a good idea to off the other first. Can’t say she had a good reason to attack, since I don’t even know what her reason was, and considering her affiliations I’m wouldn’t really be inclined to defend her too much otherwise. Not a fan of things attached to Chronos, unfortunately. Not that I’ve met them all but, you know… the ones I have… not really that impressed. So maybe you’ve got a good case to be angry or annoyed, but to want to kill someone because she… what? Grabbed you?”

Ganymede snorted derisively and rolled his eyes. “Seems like you’re just a sore loser to me,” he concluded. “She wasn’t fighting dirty, she just got the best of you. If you’re actively trying to learn, I guess you won’t make the mistake and underestimate long nails and grabbing again. Not the most elegant way to fight, but it’s pretty effective.”

"Hm... Going crazy..." It was definitely a possibility in Mimi's head, but she felt like, from someone not powered or not powered yet, they probably thought they were all crazy. Even Ganymede seemed a little crazy to her, in his own way, of course. "I wouldn't be surprised if you're a little crazy too," Mimi said to him without real offense. "Anyone in this war is a little nuts, I think. Not for the same reasons, but yeah..."

Mimi wasn't going to deny she lost control; she knew she did and it very much bothered and scared her, which was why it was on her mind so much. She wasn't completely sure what 'off' meant, but Mimi didn't care about fighting until she was pulled into the fight. "Again, it was her, not me. I'm pretty sure you know DMC like to gather energy. I was doing just that before we stumbled upon each other. Just bums, really, but you'd probably find a way to defend them too."

"And who said I lost," she questioned Ganymede with somewhat of a sly grin. "Using your words, I guess she 'made me switch fighting styles'." Mimi wasn't proud of that, no matter what Ganymede called it. "I left soon after because I knew my frustration got the better of me."

She was starting to feel a little tired of the White Mooner seemingly talking down to her. He didn't like her, most likely for what she was a part of, but Mimi didn't care. Mimi knew she was raised well, even though the DMC was supposed to be 'bad'. "Life has funny ways of changing someone's course in life.."

“If I’m even a little bit crazy, it doesn’t have much to do with all of this,” Ganymede replied, making a sweeping motion with one of his hands to reference the entirety of the war.

He was sure it had a lot to do with how he responded to things emotionally. He was also pretty sure he wasn’t as unaffected by some of it as he tried to pretend. It caused him a lot of stress and a lot of frustration and plenty of mental turmoil, probably made even worse by the fact that he liked to push it back and pretend as if everything was fine, let it sit there and stew until he just couldn’t hold it in anymore.

But the difference between his kind of crazy and her kind of crazy was who it hurt in the process. She’d already contemplated killing someone, causing harm to someone else. If Ganymede caused harm to anyone, he caused harm to himself. Anything beyond that was unintentional—a side effect. He never meant it to happen.

“Yeah, see, it’s that energy draining thing that kind of bothers me,” he continued. “You and the Negaverse, you seem to think it’s okay to zap energy out of people because it doesn’t hurt them. But how do you know that? How do you know what happens to them after you’re done? What do you even need that energy for anyway?”

Nothing, as far as he’d ever been able to tell. What, were they storing it somewhere? Using it to do some creepy magic? Did they need it to turn more people into weird mirror senshi? Why was it so imperative? Clearly it had to be important somehow or they wouldn’t keep doing it.

"Sorry to hear you seem to have worse things going on elsewhere," Mimi said. She felt bad for him; her life wasn't perfect either, but it was getting better since she joined the DMC. Though... That wasn't the best thing to tell a White Mooner. Mimi didn't think Ganymede would be interested in switching sides at all, after powering up until the third rank as a White Moon Senshi.

She didn't think that Ganymede would be okay with it. Why would he be? "Well, it's only a sip with the wraiths. I'm not sure about the Negaverse officers, but didn't they used to take... still take? star seeds. The wraiths take a little bit, from what I know, and the people would gain it back later. It seems to give people the shivers, but else, I don't see much change."

Most of the homeless she had taken energy was sleeping anyways. They were regaining strength, so, in theory, she just slowed down their regeneration. Mimi couldn't think that they'd be fully re-energized in the morning anyways, since... It was probably really hard to get good sleep living on the streets. Only time she had tried it on awake people were before people attacked her; it was something she found amusing since... Even if she did get beat up, she would gain something from it.

"I don't really know what happens to it." Well, she did. At least a little bit. Energy was used to power her up, after all. Mimi wanted to make that up that energy Ares used, even though she didn't know how much it was. Mimi had an idea though, which was... More of a joke than anything.

"Have you gotten energy taken by a wraith before? I... Don't feel like they'd attack our own people, so if you allowed me to, maybe I can send one out to get some energy from you, and you can tell me how it feels?" Mimi had to admit to herself that she was curious to how it felt.

“You’re still taking something from people by force,” Ganymede said, “and that’s not right.”

There were a lot of things that weren’t right about this. It wasn’t right that they were—for the most part—a bunch of teenagers running around trying to save the city or the world or the universe from one enemy or another, White Moon, Dark Mirror, Negaverse, it didn’t matter. In the end it was all the same thing. One side thought the other side was out to take over the world for some reason or another, ostensibly due to some moon princess and her pathetic excuse for a love life, and now they had to either eradicate one another before that could happen or find some other means to end a war that didn’t seem to want to end.

But Ganymede didn’t bother going into all of that with her. He got into it enough with other people, thought about it enough on his own, that trying to discuss it with this girl would probably prove rather meaningless. Instead, he watched her oddly, giving her a look that was half wary and half unimpressed in response to her question and subsequent suggestion.

“Let you take my energy with one of your dementor things?” he asked, following it up with a snort, a roll of his eyes, and a sarcastic, “Because that’s totally a good idea. Yeah, I’ll just trust you to stop before you take too much and kill me, turn me into one of you, or leave me unconscious in the street. That’s just how I wanted to spend my night.”

Only not. Not at all. Not now, not ever.

“How about ‘no’? Sorry, but if you want to conduct a little experiment you’re going to have to find someone a lot more gullible or a lot more trusting than me. I could probably think up a few names for you, but since I happen to value other people’s lives I’ll keep them to myself. Maybe you don’t rip the souls out of people, but you’re not much better than the Negaverse in my book. Least not until you stop preying on harmless, innocent people.”
