Who: || Amadeo & Nolan (+ anyone else you might want to bring)
When: || Mid-morning, the world is just starting to warm up, mild breezes make it seem a touch chilly
Where: || The beach, just far enough away from the ocean so that waves don't get your toes wet!

------

This was one of the few places that Nadyris had allowed him to practice.

The slender child was nestled atop one of the rocks that sprang out from the sand, a remnant of the cliffs and rougher terrain that one would find, should they begin their walk back to the docks. Amadeo knew full well that his guardian was there, just barely out of sight, likely in one of his exercise routines or in the depths of meditation. Whichever the case, the blond dustling had no intention of disturbing him for some time to come, not when there were other, preferable matters to attend to. This was a safe place, a haven this time of day away from the slew of prying eyes, where in the chill of the morn only a passing fisherman might spy him, and in that case, the one-eyed mercenary was not so far away, and Amadeo being a spry youngling, feared no repercussion. It was either that or he'd threaten to singe their face off. Maybe.

The child was hunched over, longer strands of blond hair buoyed about his features by the wind, brows furrowed in an expression of extreme concentration as he kindled a tiny fire between his palms. He had very little control over the flame, though he had learned prior that if he funneled just a smidgen of energy into his hands, he could warm them, palms becoming almost like hot coals, and if he was oh so very meticulous, he could manage to do it without scorching or singeing whatever it was that he touched (though, mind, it meant that a variety of Nadyris' kitchenware was irrevocably stained with tiny blackened fingerprints). It was that sort of experimental behavior that had caused the boy's papa to recommend that he study his talents somewhere where he was less likely to cause a disaster...or some sort of social stir. It hadn't been a cruel reprimand, just a fatherly word of caution.

Mind drifting for a moment, golden eyes flicked up to the sea before him, scanning the area to ensure that he was still alone. The moment of inattention had a price, however, and the fire flared betwixt his palms, nearly leaping up to claim Amadeo's eyebrows as penance. Luckily his reflexes were up to the task, and his violent recoil saved face and brows alike. With a cry of surprise and frustration, the movement sent him toppling from his roost, and he found himself on his back in the sand, hair and coat splayed out about him and now mingling themselves with the irritating grit that was the sandy grains about him. "Stupid..." He muttered, sitting up and dusting himself off, jaw set in an expression of sheer vexation. Not that he hadn't brought it upon himself.

Drawing his coat further about him, more a comforting gesture than one incited by any need to actually warm the bare skin beneath it, he huddled himself up, gazing out at the ocean as though it were to blame for his slip-up. He'd try again...in a minute.

It'd been several months since he'd dared to return to human territory; after his run-in with the hecklers and the subsequent saving of his scaled behind by Krinn, Nolan had little desire to return to the city for many months. As time wore on, however, he had an itch, a discomfort on his skin that begged for some form of revenge -- or retribution, whichever came first. He wasn't the type to take anything in stride, and after warring with his more base nature, the child had caved and asked Tesla if he could go out again. Of course, she'd barely given him a 'yes' -- she knew by now he'd find his own way if he had it in his head to do so, irregardless to her answer -- and the child was on his way in the morning, intending to reach the docks to the city by midday.

He didn't wear quite so much as he had before, even with the colder weather: his standard grey pants that were too long on his 'human' legs, bare feet, an open vest and a cloak that hardly kept him decent. He looked more like a homeless vagrant than anything, and his minute use of 'power' to keep himself appearing human only lended to his ability to be looked over. Nolan would have played the dumb red-headed child while stealing from unsuspecting merchants and cutting the spokes in wagon wheels from others, but something else caught his eye as he was passing one of the ocean-side docks. Something bright. Something that shined.

Unable to bypass his compulsive nature, Nolan immediately dropped his facade, dragon bits all in place once more as he slid slowly over the sand, his body low, dark eyes wide with intrigue to what could have danced and sparkled so. And just as quickly as he'd seen it, it bloomed like an ember flower and disappeared -- and just so, he saw a form topple over, prompting him to actually dart more quickly towards the location. Imagine his intense surprise to find a boy, back now turned to him, where the sparkly gem had once been. Was he responsible?

Repressing most of his dragon appearance - save for his tail - he didn't make his presence known or ask for an invitation, instead crossing the sandy reach and plopping himself down right next to the blonde. Good things came from blondes, he'd decided, casting his blue eyes over the annoyed looking youth. "Was that you?" was what he asked in place of a greeting, lacking manners yet still. "That bright flash -- did you do that?" Nolan wouldn't be able to fault the other if he viewed him as mad; after all, this scraggly looking boy with a tail had just started yammering to him as though they were old friends. Nonplussed, he pushed his dark red bangs over his brow, expecting an answer all the same.
