You've recently been adopted by your family, and they've been briefed on your proper care, but still you're nervous. It's your first full moon. Avon warned you that you would be forced into your were-form, but you've never experienced it before and you're worried you'll lose control of yourself.

What do you do? What happens when you DO transform? How do you cope with it afterwards? Does what happened during your time in your were-form change anything between you and your new family?

Name: Travis McFly
Sex: Male
Prompt Response:
The paperwork and explanation went so smoothly, the family seemed so kind well everyone except maybe the grandfather who kept a tough and displeased look on his face. Nevertheless Travis was happy with his new family. He didn’t know what to expect, whether it was good or bad but it seemed good to him so far. Why wouldn’t it be when everyone seemed so happy to have the little weremeta around. Grandpa David kept his distance of course while the rest of the family showered him with love. A few times he heard David muttering how weak Travis looked. Despite the mean looks or harsh words Travis got from him, he couldn’t resist looking up to the older gentleman. He was old yet he looked as if he could wrestle a bear. Oh how the boy wished he could get closer to him but for now it didn’t seem possible. Maybe it was for the best.

Some time had passed and it felt as if Travis had adjusted well with his new family, but there was one thing that still bugged him. Avon had told him as best that he could about the full moon and what would happen. It was something Travis had worried about since he was told. In the short time he had spent with the family, he had quickly grown attached. He didn’t want to hurt anyone or ruin what he had with the family but he still had hope that he could pull through it and that his family would still love him.

It was the night of the full moon, Travis’s heart was beating fast. He was growing more nervous by the minute. Everyone else treated it like it would be ok. So should he do the same? Again and again he kept telling himself that it would be ok and it calmed him. Finally relax enough to shut his eyes and sleep. He really thought nothing would happen that night. Oh how wrong he was for thinking such a thing.

Travis’s eyes snapped open to find himself tied up with silver chains and his grandfather’s foot on his chest. Instantly he began to panic and question himself as he looked from his Grandpa to all around the destroyed room. Had he done this? Had he transformed without even noticing or waking up? What exactly had he done? Struggling he looked around trying to look to see if his family was alright but with him chained up and forced to stay on the floor he couldn’t see. Worried eyes looked up to the older male as if asking what had taken place. Right away David knew what the weremeta wanted to know and first replied with a laugh before giving an answer. “Oh ho ho ho you put on quite a show there for such a weak looking boy. Scared the family right out of their little minds. Not I though.” He laughed again this time even harder than the last and removing his foot off of Travis.

His laughter slowed down as he pulled up a chair and sat himself down. “You know my weak and idiot of a son says he wants to get rid of you. I don‘t see why not when you‘ve destroyed most of the house and even tried to go after the family, looking all scary. Heck they‘re lucky I was around. Else they’d be as good as dead.” Travis’s face went as pale as it could from what he was being told. He really thought he would still be loved but why would they with what he had done that night. It hurt him deep down and it caused him to sob. He had messed up. It was all his fault for being what he was and trying to hurt his family. The only thing he was glad about was that his grandfather was there to stop him.

On and on Travis kept sobbing, his ears flat against his head all while his grandfather gave him a disappointed look. “And to think I wanted to take you in but not while you‘re sobbing like a little weakling. Stop that right this instant. I ain‘t taking you back to that school. Oh heavens no lad. You‘ve impressed me with your strength too much to just send you back. You reminded me of those old days when I lived in the wild. Hunting for food and being a real man.” He gave a hearty laugh then showed Travis the claw marks he had left on his arm. “You see this boy. Back in my day no creature would dare lay a claw on me so color me impressed but you‘re going to be staying with me. I may not know about your kind but I’ll learn. The thought of getting to train you to control and harness that kind of power, boy does that light up my old ticker.”

David laughed some more as he smacked his knee and looking like he was having a joy old time. The same couldn’t be said for Travis. This was still a serious issue that should not be taken lightly. What if next time he went after him more seriously and something happened. Travis didn’t want that no matter that it made him happy that he was still wanted by at least someone in the family. He had to warn him of the dangers of being with him even if it mean being locked away for the rest of his life. He didn’t want to hurt anyone.

“Please no. You don-” Right there he was cut off by being picked up by the older man, thrown over his should and heading towards the door. Didn’t the old man get it? Wasn’t he worried? Wasn’t he afraid of being killed? Could he actually help him? Again the boy sobbed scared that he would hurt this old man that was not only reckless for what he was planning but so kind to take him in under his wing. That day the boy made a promise to himself, no mater what the old man threw at him he would deal with it. He would learn to control the beast inside him so he never hurt anyone ever again. He would make his grandpa never regret taking him in.

Meta Name: Rowan
Sex: Female
Prompt Response: A month was not enough time to get to know a family. It was enough time to memorize their names, and get some brief insight into their personalities. But it wasn't enough time to know how they would handle something like turning into a fox form once a month.

Granted the O'Donnell family knew what was to come, they'd been warned that as soon as Rowan received her item she would be forced into a different form every full moon. But being given a list of things to expect was not the same thing as watching a little girl, that despite being skittish and shy had been trying to bond with the family to the best of her ability, turn into a fox creature. Rowan couldn't blame them if they decided they didn't want to deal with it all later.

As a result of the short amount of time between adoption and full moon both parties were exceptionally nervous and antsy about the upcoming night. The O'Donnells had put together a large kennel to keep her in during the night. They lived on a horse farm so they situated the kennel in an old field that was lying fallow and ungrazed for a season. A dog house of good size was situated inside as well as a water bowl and a few toys. Blankets of every type were laying inside the dog house resting over pillows where Rowan could nest and wait out the change, and then nest in as a fox if she so desired.

Mommy O as Mrs O'Donnell liked to be called was a very sensible, no nonsense woman and had insisted that they have a sit down where they could discuss both parties nervousness a few days before the actual night. Rowan was touched that they wanted this to be something they went through together instead of being surrounded by uncomfortable silence as though it were a shameful topic. She was able to express her concerns about not being the one in control. What if it wasn't really her driving when she transformed? What if the fence wasn't enough?

Bobby, her new older brother, who was a good ten years older then her was excited about seeing such a thing and thought it was pretty darn cool. He wondered if she was contagious like a “real” werewol-fox thing. He was also concerned about the chickens. They were his responsibility and he had enough trouble with regular foxes. At this Rowan had let out a nervous giggle. She had felt drawn to those chickens when she first saw them. And they in turn and flipped their little feathery butts and squawked something horrible till she'd left the coop. Bobby winked at her because he could tell what she was remembering.

Daddy O, who also thought this was a clever name, grinned at how well the two were getting along. His wife sure was brilliant to have suggested this discussion. He was actually the least worried. He'd built that kennel after all. He told them that he'd dug it into the ground by a few meters to prevent digging and that he'd be there all night to make sure nothing untoward occurred.

Therefore the night of the full moon while full of that nervous energy was also much more relaxed then Rowan originally thought. They all sat down to dinner early while the sun was up. Bobby had checked the time of moon rise so they weren't surprised by a moon that was visible in the daylight. Daddy O put on his big boots and warmest jacket, grabbed his shot gun and Mommy O picked up Rowan for a cuddling hug and a kiss on the cheek, telling her she'd be fine. Bobby just waved, wishing her luck.

Finally Rowan struck out with Daddy O to the kennel. When they got there he put his hand on her shoulder, even if she was tall for her age, she was slender and slight framed. “Rowan, whatever goes down tonight, I'll be right here to make sure we're all safe. And tomorrow you'll start lessons with Bobby on horseback. He's been nagging me all week.”

With those words Rowan felt a wave of relief flow through her. They wouldn't abandon her, like she'd heard from the other metas. They'd be there the day after tonight. All she had to do was survive. She offered a thankful smile. “Thanks Daddy O.” She said quietly and went into the kennel. And from there into the dog house where she took off her clothes and wrapped herself in blankets to await the change.

It didn't take long. As soon as the moon started rising, Rowan knew it. She could have pointed at it with her eyes closed and followed it's path into the sky. Her body started tingling, and then itching. She felt the pain first in her teeth then face. The rest of her body quickly followed as she forcefully sprouted red fur and her bones snapped and reconfigured.

Outside, Daddy O winced as he heard that precious little girl's screams. Why did things like this have to hurt? Couldn't it just be a magical poof of smoke and wham fox? He resisted the urge to go to her and stayed back a few meters away from the fence. He was still close enough to get a good look at Rowan's fox form as it crawled from the dog house to point it's nose at the air and sniff. First looking up to the moon then turning eerie eyes towards him. He shivered, the fox looked like a regular fox, but the size and way she moved. The cunning intelligence in those eyes... He could see why Rowan was so worried.

Rowan herself was conscious. But it was a strange kind of knowing. She thought like a fox now. She was hungry, what was there to eat? Oh there were so many smells, even her eyesight was vastly different. Scenting the air she tried to catalogue everything. Horses and humans. She growled. It wasn't good how much this enclosure smelled like humans. She looked at the one standing and staring a distance away from the fence. She snarled at him. This was her space. When he didn't move towards her she took to sniffing around and rolling around on things while keeping an eye on him. She found some strange smelling something. She sniffed closer and took a nibble. Weird meat. But it was food so she ate it. Bored, she played with toys.

All night she entertained herself, keeping a very close eye on that human. The only “event” was when he'd finally tried to take a step closer. Unacceptable. She threw herself at the kennel fence snarling and baring bigger teeth then it was fair to have. He swiftly backed off, but she wouldn't calm down till he was twice as far as he'd started out with.

Finally the moon when down and after more pained yowls turned screams the little girl, Rowan was back lying naked and passed out in the middle of the kennel. Daddy O hurried over to scoop her up and after dressing her, took her back to wake up in her own bed. He supposed he could wait till she slept it off to hear what she remembered. He'd have his own suggestions for the next month. Well, that and he wanted his own nap.
