Friggin’ monkey suit, Arilee grumbled to herself. She hated having to dress in anything resembling business casual. It always felt so stifling! But it was clear that the knee-length pencil skirt and ruffle-y long sleeved blouse were reassuring to the agent for the apartment complex she was looking at. And looking at this apartment, Arilee wanted her potential landlord to feel as happy and comfortable as possible. The place was amazing.

Walking from room to room, Arilee nodded to herself as items on her mental checklist were ticked off. Close to downtown to be useful, but close to the park too, swimming pool and hot tub, onsite gym and game room. Pets were allowed, so if she ever decided to get an animal, she’d be covered. But it was the apartment itself that had won her over. Second Floor, vaulted ceilings, huge living space. It was perfect. ******** perfect. Rent was a little pricey, but she had more than enough money, so it wasn’t a problem. As she peeked into the second bathroom, she found herself grinning at her reflection. Nice big mirror meant there’d be no problems getting a few of her friends to visit her via mirrorpace.

“Okay, Jan,” she spoke in a crisp voice, her normal lazy drawl gone. “I love this place. What do we need for me to get it? And how soon could I move in?”

She listened carefully as the various paperwork was explained, signed where she was told and accompanied the agent back to the leasing office. Thankfully, it wouldn’t take long to run her information. She’d always been careful to not end up charged with anything. And to use the credit card she had sensibly. Waiting the extra half hour while a decision was being made, she simply sat back in her chair and lost herself in thought. If she got the place, she would start packing up her stuff at school the second she got back to her dorm room. The St. Mags faculty was already expecting her to be doing so. So it wouldn’t look weird to see her boxing things up and removing said boxes. They’d just assume she was taking them to ship ‘em off to England. Once she was moved out, she could just quietly drop out of school, again, the faculty would assume she’d left the country.

And then, her paperwork had been approved and she was signing lease agreements. Once the final form was signed, she was given a key and told she could move in starting the following day. With a grin, Arilee accepted the key, thanked her guide and headed for the door. Maybe she’d call Quinn up and see how the older girl felt about furniture shopping. Certainly, she’d have to go and buy herself a bed and make sure that it was delivered within the next few days.

With a contented laugh, Arilee dug out her cell phone and punched her friend’s number. This was going to be amazing. Seriously amazing.
