Ganymede usually made a point of avoiding the stronger power signatures when the felt them—unless, of course, they were on his side of the war, though he had to admit he was never very interested in running into too many of them either (for various reasons that most who actually knew him were probably already aware of). It wasn’t always because he was afraid, though that probably still had something to do with it, even if the benefit of better magic meant he could defend himself (and/or others) if need be.

Some of it was selfishness still. He’d never claimed to be especially self-sacrificing. He still had a normal life to live and he had every intention of living it, and if that meant skipping out on a patrol every once in a while, he’d do so with only the barest trace of guilt. There were dozens of other senshi who were just as capable—if not more so—of taking care of things and protecting the city as he was.

The rest of it was simply because he didn’t think the enemy was doing much harm.

Oh, he knew they did sometimes. He’d seen them in action; he knew exactly what they were capable of, had experienced enough to know how cunning and ruthless and bloodthirsty some of them were, and he tried not to underestimate them. He just didn’t believe they were always like that, and if some of them were there had to be others who were more rational. They couldn’t always be made up of raving lunatics. At some point that sort of behavior had to end or be drowned out by the more moderate sort.

Or at least that was how Ganymede’s logic often worked.

So, when he sensed a powerful energy signature that night, he did he was usually did and drew close enough to check that there wasn’t any foul play going on, keeping to the shadows in the hopes that he would go unnoticed, with the intention of minding his own business and going on his way as soon he as reassured himself that the presence was a (mostly) harmless one.

Unlike the senshi, Benitoite was different. He was loyal to the cause and as such went out nearly every night, even if it was for only a short time. The blond was one of those who didn't have much of a nightlife, as he was sure many others did, and so his nights were spent out patrolling and fulfilling duties he'd had since joining - duties he didn't need to fulfill as he did still. But a lack of anything else to do, aside from stay at home or sleeping (he did not like going to social events with his parents and the galleries lately hadn't had much which interested him), brought him out of his home and had Alexandre Evans powering up. He'd thought he might have been going out less, having something to occupy his time with, but that wasn't and wouldn't be the case now. He might still be burning out, pushing himself with the amount of things he was taking on, but that's what a vacation was for - and he did have plans for one. Until that vacation came he would go out and power up and patrol.

Tonight was no different from most - quite. He liked the quite nights at times, it might be boring but it also was better than fighting every single night. Maybe he was burning out, and not all that slowly either. Or had it been happening since he joined this war?

He didn't know when it had happened but at some point his head had tipped back, his eyes on the sky above. He needed a vacation so he could settle himself, work himself back into some semblance of normal. He needed to find a a balance.

How stupid, or odd, he must look standing in a dark alley way with his head tipped skyward and observing whatever he could from the gap between the two buildings.

“You’re not going to see very many stars in the middle of the city,” Ganymede said.

He didn’t know why he’d bothered to even open his mouth. This guy—a General, judging by the power signature, and Ganymede was immediately put on alert by that thought alone—wasn’t currently hurting anyone or causing anyone any trouble. He was out on his own, no monsters around, doing who knew what as he looked up at the sky. Thinking, probably. That was all Ganymede ever really did whenever he tipped his head back and looked up.

It did, however, seem a little odd that a Negaverse agent would stare up when they let their mind wander—if that was what this general was doing; the Eternal senshi could only assume that it was. Ganymede would have thought they’d struggle to look anywhere but up in their moments of contemplation, since the stars and the bright moon in the sky might seem somehow taunting.

Not that he knew where they’d look instead.

Maybe down, he thought. That’s where Hell was supposed to be, right?

Taking a step out of the shadows, Ganymede tried to get a better look at the guy who was supposed to be his enemy. Glancing at what he could see of his clothes, Ganymede realized he’d seen him before—twice, in fact, though both encounters had been relatively short. Once a Captain, now a General. He’d attacked Pasiphae at the Surrounding, and Kallichore more recently during the ambush.

Ganymede clearly remembered his screams.

“Oh,” he said quietly, suddenly feeling a little sick to his stomach. “It’s you.”

Turning his head, and tilting it downward, he looked toward the voice. An eternal senshi. He knew that and they weren't attacking him, just telling him what he was aware of. He almost wanted to say something, to tell them that they were stating the obvious, but the words didn't come. Rather he gave the simplest and slightest of nods. His blond hair fell about his face gently, criss crossing across his face in silken strands of ash blond.

He knew it was odd for a Negaverse agent to look at the stars, he was sure some on his side would think it odd, after all their enemy came from up there. But it was still something he saw as romantic and the mystery of the stars, even after having been up in space, called to him and comforted his mind similar to how his candles and incense did.

Tonight had been a night to go out, patrol, and enjoy the peaceful evening. It seemed his night would be interrupted, though he hoped only with conversation. As he saw the senshi come out from the shadows he found his eyes narrowing into a glare but he held back from saying anything, for the moment. When they spoke he couldn't keep himself quite any longer.

"Indeed, and I could say the same." He could remember the pain suddenly, and hearing his own screams. The pain had been like nothing else he'd felt, broken bones were one thing; this had been another altogether. "Planning to stay, or will you be on your way?"

Ganymede did what he could to block the memories and push them back, back, far back—as far as he could. The ambush itself would have been enough to give him nightmares. That he had been the cause of so much pain, no matter what the reason had been—even if he’d succeeded in saving Kallichore’s life in the process—sickened him more than watching others do so in his place.

He was not a fighter. He never had been.

And he never wanted to be.

“On my way, I guess,” he said. His voice sounded strained, and he cleared his throat in an attempt to right it. “Unless you give me a reason to stick around.”

Carefully, he observed the General, looking for any signs that he was up to no good, but again he saw nothing. They were alone. He didn’t sense anyone else in the vicinity. The General didn’t even seem all that combative at the moment—maybe a little defensive, a little wary, but then Ganymede couldn’t really blame him. As peaceable as Ganymede often tried to be—with their enemy if not with his own allies—he didn’t think his magic had a way of endearing him to people, not with what it did now.

“I was just checking on things. I sensed you around and wanted to make sure you weren’t up to something. Can’t say you are. So if you’re not out being an evil b*****d, I don’t see any reason to be a pain in your a**.”

A fighter himself but not one always looking for a fight, or even wanting to be involved in a fight, he raised a single brow at the other. "Should I give you a reason? And what reason shall it be if I'm to give you one?" He questioned. Was this senshi looking for a reason to stick around? And if so what reason? It wasn't like the General was exactly social nor could you say he was predictable exactly. He could talk to some senshi, and knights, and than with others he would have no problem in beating and/or trying to kill them. And it could change where one he'd talked to in the past was now fair game to beat on.

He would have let the senshi be on his way, after the questions had been answered, but those last few sentences set him off. They were the wrong thing to say and caused something of a growl to escape passed his lips, it wasn't something he'd ever done before. But this week had not been the best when it came to people making assumptions and his stress levels were already higher than he liked.

"I do not require some babysitter nor someone to check in on me to see what I'm up to." Never mind the fact the other was the supposed good guy whilst he himself was the supposed bad guy. His mood had just shifted from calm to annoyed without much effort, or action, taken on the senshi's part. It was just the right, or wrong, words. "Is it normal for you to assume we're up to no good when you sense us?" He questioned his voice cold and quite a bit offended, upset even. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions, and speaking without thinking, but he really couldn't help it. He sort of still had an issue with saying what he thought, it was something he had been working on, but he'd just sort of snapped and jumped. He really needed to get away for a while, even if he had to stop in every other day to check in on things here.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, chill out, okay?” Ganymede exclaimed, lifting his hands up to show his palms in an “I’m completely harmless except for that one time when I made you burn” gesture. He took a few steps back to be cautious and put a little more space between them, put on immediate alert but the General’s reaction.

He hadn’t meant to set him off. Maybe he wanted to check up on him, yeah, but provided he wasn’t doing anything evil—and he hadn’t been—Ganymede had every intention of just letting him go on his way and get back to his business or whatever he meant to do that night. If he went and harmed someone later, the Eternal senshi figured there’d be someone else around to stop him from doing it. There were plenty of senshi and knights to do the job, weren’t there?

It was probably a terrible way for him to think and operate, but he had a life he needed to live if he didn’t want to go crazy.

“If I was gonna babysit someone, I’d pick someone a lot younger, jeez,” he said. “I’ve got enough of babysitting duty with some of the runt senshi running around. If you want to stand here and look up at the stars, go right ahead. Not hurting me any. Not hurting anyone, actually. That’s all I was doing, making sure no one was being hurt. You guys do have a reputation for that, you know. Sorry if that offends you. I don’t particularly like my side’s reputation either, so let’s call it even, yeah?”

He lowered his hands back down after a moment—slowly, so he didn’t look like he had any plans to attack.

“In my defense, you have tried to hurt two of my friends. In your defense, I kind of fried your insides. So we both have reasons to not like each other, but I’ll stop assuming things and jumping to conclusions about you if you’ll stop doing the same about me. To assume makes an a** out of ‘u’ and ‘me’ anyways,” he attempted to joke.

Watching the senshi back away, hands held up, he took a moment to try and calm himself. A glance skyward and a few deep breaths. He knew he'd jumped to conclusions, at least that was likely the case, but given his week and how they were said and by whom they were spoken. Could one really blame him? Finally he lowered his gaze to the blond haired senshi.

Wrinkling his nose a look of disgust settled upon his features. "I don't see why they are even allowed out, children corrupted into being soliders in a war. A childhood tainted with this." Snorting he shook his head in disgust. Listening further he had to crack something of a smile and let loose a small laugh. "At least you admit to your sides darker side. I've never met a senshi before who would so freely speak against their side, even in such simple and light terms.I would say that while your side see's us as having a reputation I would say your side does as well...just not amongst most of your own side." It was because of the other side that he was protective over those he'd turned and others on his side. His side was family to him, at least those he knew, he tried to get to know them each as civilians as well to cement that feeling and bring them all closer. Anything to bring the factions of his side closer and bind them all closer to each other. Call it alliance strengthening if you want but he liked to know they had his back and know that they knew he'd have theirs due to trust.

"Your friends...which friends would that be? As one I beat that night broke my ribs in the past - so I'd say attacking them was fair enough. Another enjoyed mentally messing with me, thought I deserved it, again I think I'm justified there. Not to mention this is war and that was a minor battle." Or maybe more than minor but the Surrounding had been a good deal bigger in every sense of the word. So compared to the battle in space the ambush hadn't been as big.

The others joke gained a head shake from him. "No one in a battle should assume, and yet by human nature we will and do - whether we want to or not. I do it myself, I know it, and yet I dislike it done to myself. Tonight was a night to patrol and check in on those lower ranks and see to it that they are safe - a duty of mine. I simply got caught up in thoughts when you came upon me."

“I think you might need to reevaluate your definition of a minor battle,” Ganymede said, giving the general an odd look of disbelief.

He could only assume the other was speaking of the ambush. ‘Mentally messing with me’ sounded something like Kallichore. Ganymede would never think to call the ambush ‘minor.’ ‘Minor’ was a youma battle, or a brief clash in the streets that didn’t result in much of anything—no blood, no injuries, no death. The ambush had been quite different, similar to the Surrounding and Elysion in the horrific manner it had been fought, but different from them, too.

No two battles were alike.

“I don’t really know what went on between you and Kallichore, but I’m sure she had her reasons,” he continued.

Of course, Ganymede didn’t know if he would have agreed with those reasons, since he didn’t have any idea what those reasons were, but he liked to think Kallichore wouldn’t just jump into a fight for the hell of it. They weren’t necessarily friends, though using that word was much easier than coming up with something else to define their relationship, but they were teammates and he… well, he sort of cared about what happened to her, so there was that.

“At the Surrounding you went after Pasiphae. Hell if I know what she ever did to you to make you want to hurt her. She’s probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She wouldn’t hurt anyone on purpose. Not like some of you, and not like some of the rest of the senshi either. We’re not all the same, you know,” Ganymede said, lifting his arms to cross them over his chest defensively—a common pose of his, but it was instinctive during talk like this.

“I’m Ganymede. A senshi. Not the senshi. I don’t speak for all of them and the rest of them don’t speak for me.”

"Compared to what happened in space I would call most things minor. And not just due to the size of the battle and those involved." The great youma being the big thing he meant of course. "But also I would think the ambush minor as the battle in space involved civilians - civilians who died. And let us not forget that we were all in space, not hereon Earth." Not that he minded the idea of senshi in space; they belonged there anyway. "Perhaps it's just the scale I use is different from yours." But taking all those things into account he would say that the ambush was minor, the little fights a person got into on any given night were like a school house fight just with powers involved.

"I'm sure she did as well. Just as I'm sure I had my reasons for beating her." If he could he wouldn't mind putting her in the hospital - for a long stay.

"The senshi with the mask?" He questioned with a tilting of his head, while tucking that name away for now. He'd write that down later, and attempt to spell it properly. Shifting his weight so one hip and side took all his weight, a rather relaxed stance really. "What I have against her isn't due to any injury inflicted. But rather her assumption that a bag, laying on the ground, was mine and not one of the civilians that I'd been draining. She also had no idea what was in that bag that she was attacking, rather brutally I might add. Had it not been mine she could have attacked and broken some students cell phone or any other device. She was lucky it was mine and I hadn't any such items in it. So my anger at her is the lack of care she had for personal property when she didn't know it's owner." He stated, his voice reflecting the offense he'd felt at the senshi's actions that night so long ago. And it wasn't offense because of what she'd done to his property but rather that it could have been someones broken cell phone, iPod, who knows what. It could have been anything in that bag, which could have belonged to anyone (such as one of the unconscious civilians). What was to tell her that he wasn't just protecting some civilians property from the fight. It had always been part of him to keep civilians as uninvolved and unharmed by this war as possible, energy gathering being the only exception really. There had been no way around gathering energy from civilians, and he had for a short while even called it in someone could help them. He tried to keep them as safe as he could and that included their property. They shouldn't suffer, or die, in the process of having their freedom fought for.

He might have let his thoughts wander back to that night, to the indignation and offense he'd felt, but the senshi was introducing them self and he found himself nodding his head. "I see. My apologies...Ganymede. Had I known your name I would have used it and properly spoken to you - the individual. Though as I said I am human and I do make the same mistake of bundling every senshi up together. Perhaps it's just because it is a nicer, more manageable, manner to deal with all the senshi out there. You can, if you wish, call me Benitoite."

“Yeah, you people do seem to like taking the easy way out,” Ganymede replied, his tone moderately sarcastic, as he mentally filed away the General’s name.

Of course, he was of the opinion that most people liked taking the easy way out. He wasn’t immune to it himself, though he wasn’t always the sort to shy away from things that were difficult. He readily acknowledged that there were parts of what he believed in regards to the war that weren’t what some people might consider easy. Some seemed to think it was impossible, that talking things out—or attempting to—with the other side would lead to absolutely nothing. To them, it was a waste of time. To them, there were more important things to be done. They liked to take action, to jump right in with hardly a thought for what the results might be in the end, and whether those results would be good or bad.

But talking… what harm could that do, so long as the people involved kept the assumptions to a minimum?

“You lump us all together,” Ganymede pointed out. “And maybe the senshi are the same about that. Maybe I’ve done it, too, but for the most part I haven’t been given much of a reason not to. I can’t think of anyone on your side off of the top of my head who’s actually taken the time to talk to me. I guess most people would rather talk with their fists.”

Not him.

“Because that solves everything,” he continued in a sarcastic tone, taking a moment to roll his eyes. “All I know is that you guys? Kind of insane. And maybe some of you have a good reason for that. Dude with the eye-patch, he was tortured, right? Wish he wouldn’t go around kicking little kids, but I guess torture has a way of messing with your head. Still, if you’d kindly not attack my friends for… what did Pasiphae do? Made an assumption about a bag? Considering what was going on at that point, it was probably better to be safe than sorry. I don’t think any of those civilians would have cared much about a broken cell phone or iPod when it meant getting out of that alive.”

Well, they hadn’t been alive for all of it. But somehow they’d all been returned to their homes, and that was better than the alternative.

“Whatever. We’re not all the scum of the Earth. Or space. Some of us aren’t what you think we are.”

Ignoring the comment from the senshi regarding taking the easy way out, who didn't take the easy way out when they could and it fit nicely into things? Benitoite knew he wasn't immune to all the same things people did simply because it was human nature, he wasn't inhuman or some monster like some might think he and others like him were. It wasn't easy though to push aside human nature and be as open as he should be, as he wanted and expected others to be. He knew he was a hypocrite, and to himself he'd outright admit to that, but to others like this senshi...never. Sometimes it would be nice if you could push aside, or even stamp out, human nature just because it would remove some problems. But then by being inhuman, in some small way, would that constitute a person no longer being human but rather something else altogether? He didn't think so.

Before he could continue on thinking of such things, which were better pondered alone and in the safety of his home, the Generals attention was once more fully on the senshi before him. "Indeed I do, same as I'm sure most members on your side do with us. I'm sure you've done it as well - human nature." Shrugging lightly as his blond hair was ruffled by a sudden cold breeze that moved down the alley way. Seemed tonight would be a bit gusty, not that it much bothered him. "I can't think of many on your side who don't assume, and act on those assumptions, about us either. We are all the same in that way...how unfortunate to have things in common." Pulling a bit of a distasteful face at that, he didn't like the idea much at all.

"No, fists don't solve everything - good plans help when combined with fists. But wiping out the opposition also helps, for obvious reasons." And it wasn't something he was against really. He'd killed and would kill again, he knew it, and it didn't bother him at this point in the game. He understood things better and knew what needed to be done. "Wolframite..the one with the eye patch has a name and it's Wolframite. I've only dealt with him once." And damn was he intimidating, not that he was about to tell this senshi that. How would it look if he said he was intimidated by one of his own? "I don't know anything of what he went through. And I'm sure some of your own members are without a rocker." Completely round the bend nuts. He was sure of it. He had heard of torture being committed and anyone who could do that had to be beyond nuts, they had to need meds and a padded room...or death.

"You shouldn't make such an assumption about what they might or night not mind! They weren't suffering or anything." Only had their energy drained. Why did these senshi, and knights, make such a big deal about it and paint it to be the worst thig possible aside from death? "Not everyone can afford a new phone if ones broken, or has insurance on their phone! The fact she risked something like that is wrong!" His voice was raised, though not shouting and attracting attention. But he was thinking of the people, how could he not? He was fighting for them, risking his life. He hated seeing the damaged, un-repaired, parts of the city where people lived among the debris of battles fought between the sides. So yeah, he had an issue with possessions and other such things which belonged to civilians potentially being destroyed, or even broken.

"It wasn't like I'd kill a civilian. They are to be left out of this war at all possible cost. Taking energy doesn't kill them. I'd even kept them all tucked safely away and out of sight." Shaking his head he sighed heavily, calming himself before he continued on that line of thought. He didn't want to get into things and try and make sense of his own morals and opinions/thoughts, and the like.

"I can say the same for us. Though I doubt you'd listen or care. Too many of your kind like to do as we do, lump everyone together and your kind assume the worst, always. We've become like the boogie man or Voldemort to your Harry Potter." This wasnt't the first time he used Harry Potter, or themes from it, when discussing or thinking about this whole thing. He doubted it would be the last.

"You should be on your way...senshi Ganymede. I grow weary of this talk as it seems to go in circles. With us making points, agreeing, not agreeing, pointing out obvious things..." Waving a hand about in a vague manner.

“See, this energy draining thing you do? Not cool,” Ganymede commented.

Eventually he uncrossed his arms, let them hang by his sides for a few moments, then propped one of his hands on his hip, adopting more of a casual pose now that he didn’t feel quite as threatened or as wary as he had before, though he made sure to remain on his guard. He wasn’t about to present this guy with an opening if he could help it, though it didn’t really seem as if he were looking for one. Still, one could never be too careful when speaking with the enemy, even when said enemy was being more or less civil.

Ganymede couldn’t say he entirely disagreed with some of the things the General was saying, though there were a few points he would have liked to touch on if he’d felt like taking the time to get into it. He had particularly strong opinions about the Blood Moon Court and the torture that had led to… well, he liked to ultimately blame that ugly circumstance for the fact that the Dark Mirror Court existed today. Evil bred evil. What better way to go crazy and turn to darkness than through torture and murder?

He figured it was a lucky thing for them that all of them hadn’t fallen, though considering he hadn’t heard a word about them since… he didn’t have high hopes.

“You can’t just wave me away whenever you get bored,” he complained, waving one of his hands in something of a mocking fashion. “Trust me, I get that enough from my own side. Give it to them enough, too, really, so I can’t say it’s undeserved. I’m not trying to be a pain in the a** here. I’m trying to find some level of understanding. I don’t really get you guys. I don’t really get half of what goes on sometimes, on either side, I just know people end up getting hurt because of it. My people, your people, normal people, and it’s not fair for any one of us. We’re all stuck in a war we didn’t even start. Aside from the obvious, I figure you and I aren’t much different when it comes down to it.”

Somewhere, buried beneath all the magic and the fancy clothes and the varying levels of crazy, there were still normal people there, people who lost sleep over this, and lost family and friends, and sacrificed so much for something that never made much sense, people who bled and hurt and died, and for what?

Shaking his head lightly. "And yet it serves a purpose and the people don't die. They wake up and regain their energy. I've even had my own drained." Placing one hand to his own chest as if to accentuate his words, not that he really needed to. His hand didn't remain there long as it soon fell to his side, limply.

He had heard, in bits and fracmented pieces, about the torture committed against some members ofhis own group. He knew the name of those who had done it. And he knew his side worked with some of them. But they had turned away from the white moon and joined the fight for the side of chaos. He knew others didn't, and likely never would, forgive them for past transgressions - and why should they? But having not been around for it, having not suffered in any ill manner from their actions, he couldn't hold anything against them. Not to mention he was good friends with Leto and considered her a strong personal allie. He also knew from her own lips that she felt for what she'd done, realized it had been wrong. He couldn't hold such things against her. Those who had been involved though...and were still serving the white moon...he hoped Wolframite got a hold of them. He didn't like torture, didn't agree with sinking to that level, but let Wolframite have them and do as he pleased. That was his thoughts on that matter, let him and others who had suffered do as they pleased. He just didn't want to know about it. It wasn't his to concern himself with. It was just something to know of, like he wanted to know everything he could about this whole war.

Chuckling he raised his hand as he stepped toward the other. Brushing the flailing, or waving, hand of he others to the side with his own. "You just want to understand? Is that it? No trying to convince me I should change sides? No insulting me or insinuating I'm evil, poisoned, diseased or anything else." He questioned evenly. This close to the other he could easily meet his gaze as he stood nearly toe to toe with the senshi. "I've rather had enough of those insults and insinuations. Not to mention people seemingly under the notion that we're all forced to join. I was hardly forced." The mocking tone in his voice speaking volumes about how little he thought of those who said such things. They were insulting and ill informed, not to mention they were annoying.

"As far as I've been told." Stepping back he turned his back on the other, showing his trust in the senshi, his coat and cape flaring out behind him as he turned. "The original war was over something of a Romeo and Juliet story, pathetic really. All because of love everything was destroyed and lost." Shaking his head he sent the other a look over his shoulder. "The point is however that the Prince of Earth was with the Moon's princess and the girls mother, the moon's Queen, sought to take over here - a planet which was not hers. The prince was too busy with the daughter to do a thing and she sought to enslave the people here. tThe people rose up, normal people without any power, and took on this Queen." He spoke his head turning back away from the senshi and tilting upward as he spoke.

"That was how I was told, though not in the same words. It was after much fighting and loss of life that some people made it to the throne room of Earth's palace and inside was not the Prince but the Moon's Queen. In a final act of violence she unleashed some power and it shattered the peoples starseeds...thus the youma. The youma were people, the original fighters in this war." One gloved hand had at some point fisted at his side, and was slowly relaxing as he continued speaking.

"We are here, as far as I know, to stop her from returning and to see to it that the senshi return to their own worlds. Your worlds were destroyed during that war and we wish you off of this world so it does not fall as your worlds fell. To put it simple...why allow those who destroyed their own planets to remain on another? They will only destroy that one as well. That is the simplest way to put that. Again, this is what I have heard and been told." He spoke, turning fully to face the senshi. Now some five feet or so put between them.

"We fight to keep the past from happening again...for the freedom of the people and peace." He genuinely had a good reason to fight, if what he said was true. Either way if he believed it and it was why he fought, which his voice said just that, than he had a good and valid reason. It wasn't some twisted or tainted reason.

"I do not know if I should say even a fraction of what I've said but it's not as thought I can go and ask someone and than return and relay to you what I am permitted to say. That would be rather...inconvenient and troublesome." Again with the hand waving in a dismissive gesture.

This was the second time Ganymede had heard some version of the story that supposedly started the war. The first time he hadn’t really listened, uninterested in it when he’d been more concerned for Valhalla, but he’d heard bits and pieces through the crowd, and more later on from Oberon—more than enough to form an opinion. As he listened now, he noted a few of the similarities, but after the cheesy Romeo and Juliet affair that was where the General’s version and the version that pink haired moon brat had shared prior to the ambush diverged.

He didn’t know which version was true. He had no proof to offer either way, though he knew what he believed to be true, and it wasn’t either one of those. But there were parts of this story, little things the Negaverse general said that touched a nerve and rubbed him the wrong way.

“I didn’t destroy my world,” he snapped. The sudden flare of temper was unintentional but also uncontrolled, though he made no move to act on it, simply stood there and glared.

The passion in his voice surprised him, and he paused to let the statement hang between them for a few moments. He didn’t care about space beyond what information it could offer them, nor was he especially interested in rebuilding a place that had been a heap of rubble for hundreds of years when Earth was his home, the place he’d been born and raised in this life whether or not he had in the last one. He hardly knew anything about the person he used to be in another life, or even much of what that life entailed. All he’d gleaned were bits and pieces, scenes and fragments here and there that made a little sense in context to one another, but nothing that involved the broader picture, nothing to show what things had been like beyond what had existed between the former Sailor Ganymede and Valhalla.

But that place, that moon… he couldn’t deny that he had an attachment to it, that he liked having something all his own, something no one else could claim, or invade, or take from him in any way. He was, perhaps, somewhat more protective of it than he would have thought. It wasn’t home, but it was a sanctuary, perfect and pristine to him despite the destruction that existed there. It called to something inside of him and—in certain ways—made him feel just a little more complete when he set foot on its barren ground.

“I wouldn’t do something like that,” he added, and though he knew so little, he felt confident in the belief that whoever he’d been back then wouldn’t have done such a thing either. “I don’t want to destroy Earth. I want to save it. I don’t want innocent people who have nothing to do with any of this getting involved. I’m not interested in kicking anyone off of the planet, or ushering in some foreign queen to conquer it for… what? Why does she want the Earth, exactly? She had her own kingdom, didn’t she? Why the hell would she even need this place? Who’s telling you these things?”
