It was almost out of the blue when suddenly he got contacted by the nice ghoul from the baking booth. Granted he was surprised she even remembered he existed. It was hard to forget someone like him, especially after he had a small foodfight with his ghoulfriend. Still, he was a good boil and not one to disappoint a nice, pretty ghoul.
She told him to come by the Home Eek room at a certain time.
He was a little early in fact.
As he wandered in it was noted that he was not alone. He had an owl on his shoulder.
"I'm here!" He announced happily.

The baku leaned back, eying the counter thoughtfully as she scanned all the items that she had laid out. Was that everything? Flour, milk, eggs, baking powder...All the basics needed to make cupcakes, along with a few extra things for flavouring and decoration. When she saw Kettil's name posted up for the Big Brother event, her mind had immediately flashed back to the incident in the Baking Club. She remembered the boil's attempt at cupcakes, and then the food fight that ensured with his ghoulfriend.
...It was not the best memory, but in hindsight, it brought a small smile to her face.
She was startled out of her reverie when Kettil arrived a few minutes earlier than expected. Turning to greet him with a smile, she suddenly froze upon seeing the owl on his shoulder. There was a moment of silence--was she displeased to see an owl in the Home Eek room?--before she rushed forward, her tail wagging.
"Hi Kettil! Who's this?"

Kettil was beaming with pride as she approached him and asked who the owl was, "It's my familiar! Endzela," he replied happily back.
Endzela peered down at the baku ghoul and then bowed slightly, "Hello~. Pleasure is all mine..."
"Xiu." Kettil said helpfully to the Familiar.
The Owl glared at her reaper a bit.

Oh, a familiar! Xiu had been curious whether Kettil was in possession of either a weapon or a familiar, and this finally answered that question. Suddenly looking a little timid, she beamed up at the owl shyly, her pink eyes round. "It's nice to meet you, Endzela! And yes, my name is Xiu!"
She smiled, bobbing her head in a small bow before she finally turned her attention back to Kettil. Grinning up at the boil, she moved aside and motioned towards the counter behind her, indicating all the ingredients that she had laid out.
"Guess what we're doing today?"

Endzela turned her attention back toward the Baku curiously. "A lovely name," she complimented cheerfully enough after she got rid of the glare. She spread her wings a little, "Is there anywhere I may perch? I would hate to dirty your kitchen."
Kettil peered at where Xiu indicated and then squinted a bit, a small grin on his lips, "Ahh, ghoul, I am not sure you want me to try bakin' again," he laughed lightly. He remembered those 'lovely' cupcakes that had made the visit to the underside of Freya's dress.

"Ah--anywhere is okay, really! So long as you're comfortable, it's fine with me." She made a vague gesture at the room, indicating that she was allowed to perch about until she found somewhere she liked if she so wished.
Kettil received a grin and a bright laugh. "Well, this time, I'll be watching you and walking you through the steps. I'm not entirely sure what happened last time, but..." She made a face, "I promise you that the cupcakes we're making today are not ones that you'll want to smear down poor Freya's dress."
Unless he was, you know. Into that kind of stuff.
...ANYWAYS.
"Did you bring an apron? I have extras if you didn't, so don't worry about it!"

The Owl hooted happily as she took wing and soon found herself a nice perch on the back of a sturdy chair where she settled for the time being to keep an eye on things. For the most part the Owl was just glad to relax and be near her Reaper.
Kettil chuckled a bit as he just shook his head and gave in with an eventual shrug, "Alright, alright. I'll give it one more go for ya," he agreed. At the mention of the Freya Incident he blushed slightly, "Yeah, sorry 'bout that! We just get each other riled up! We have a lot of fun t'gether."
At the question of an apron he shook his head, "Got some extras?"

She sighed, but judging by the smile on her face, she really wasn't seriously annoyed. "It's okay, no harm done." There was a pause, and then she lifted her hand to wag her finger at him, "But let me remind you again that I'm not your mother, okay?"
That had been a little awkward, albeit kind of amusing in hindsight too.
Xiu nodded, hurrying off to the front of the room to snatch the box of neatly folded aprons from off the desk. Moving back, she set it down on the floor beside Kettil. "Yup, just pick one!" She bent down to grab one for herself, sliding it over her head and tying the back in a loose bow.
...Apparently aprons could be cute and fashionable too.
"You may want to tie your hair back too," She advised, "Lest it set on fire when we're working with the oven. Other than that...ready?"

Kettil seemed happy that there seemed to be no grudges hanging about. He paused as he watched her wag her finger at him and his face just broke into a mischievous grin as he briefly hung his arms about her and hugged her, "Ah, perhaps so but now you're my Big Sister!"
He had no issues picking out an apron and putting it on. Once it was secure he gave a nod at her suggestion pulling a rubber hairtie from a pocket and pulling his hair into a neat ponytail and after it was secure he struck a pose, "Am I pretty enough to bake, now?"
He better be.
"Maybe now that I'm dolled up the baking'll go better," he laughed.

Xiu laughed--okay, she couldn't deny that. After all, she had picked him up from the Big Brother event. "Yes, for today, you'll be my little brother," She had always wanted a younger sibling, "So I'll try to be the best big sis that I can, okay?"
She watched with some amusement as he picked out one of the prettiest--and undoubtedly, girliest--aprons from the box, holding up a hand and giving him an approving thumbs up. "Very pretty," She agreed with a grin, her voice light and teasing, "I actually feel a little jealous of your beauty but ah, what can you do?"
Making sure that her sleeves were rolled up, she motioned for him to wash his hands, and then it was time to begin. It was easy enough to make sure that Kettil got the recipe perfect this time considering that he had a very attentive baku hovering alongside him as he worked. Every so often, she would pat him on the shoulder and smile to make sure that he knew that he was doing well. Encouragement went a long way, after all.
After the pan was in the oven, it was time to make the icing, and once again...Xiu made sure that the reaper had the exact measurements needed to make the perfect batch. By the time the cupcakes were ready to be taken out of the over, the icing was done and sitting to the side, and the smell of sweet, freshly baked goods had filled the room.
Mmmm.
When the oven began to beep, Xiu grinned, her tail waving from side to side. "They're ready! Grab an oven mitt and take them out!"

"I have all sorts of big brothers at home but my sisters are all younger than me," he chattered happily. Kettil certainly enjoyed his talking. "I'm sure you'll be an awesome big Sis! You have a very sweet disposition, ghoulie," he said cheerfully and sincerely. He liked Xiu a lot already.
As she noted that she was jealous of his beauty he only gave his hair a bit of a 'fluff' motion with the back of his hand, "I know. I know. You just gotta do what you can to reach my status of beauty," he sighed as if weary of being so lovely. Honestly, how did ghouls keep their hands off this prize.
Obediently he washed his hands and then it was time to get to work. Everything was measured, mixed, and done to specifications. Kettil was fairly easy to order around for the most part, he simply enjoyed pleasing others.
"Aww, but I wanted to get them out with my bare hands," he whined playfully as he got the mitts on and went to get them out as soon as they were done. "I mean screaming while in pain is the best part of baking, right?"

Kettil, Xiu decided, had a very likable character. Of course, she wasn't entirely surprised--after all, both he and Freya were most certainly good people. They had just been...especially mischievous when they started that food fight.
She gave him a light swat on the arm at his silly whining, one corner of her lips quirking upwards in a lopsided smile. "Like a badge of manliness or something? Screaming while taking out a burning pan from an oven with your bare hands?"
The baku seemed amused, and while he did that, she worked on setting up all the decorations. Candies were poured into big bowls for easy access, and the icing was divided into a bunch of smaller bowls. She mixed in a few drops of food coloring into each of these, creating a rainbow of icing that could be used for decorating.
"Are you going to make a cupcake for Freya?" She chirped, smiling as she turned to glance at the reaper curiously, "And...Endzela doesn't eat cupcakes, does she?" Some familiars, she had noticed, ate things that she wouldn't have expected of a cat/snake/owl/etc.

"The ultimate badge of manliness," he corrected with a laugh. Kettil brought over the cupcakes and set them down carefully and then proceeded to do a small wordless 'puppet' show with the mitts complete with having one of them nom Xiu's nose.
This is what happens when you let Kettil use oven mitts. Look at what you have done, Xiu.
Thankfully he stopped on his own as the oven mitts got taken off of his hands. He looked over his options of decoration his eyes flicking over at Xiu with a thoughtful look to them, "Hmm, I dunno if Freya deserves a cupcake after her little stunt at the booth," he laughed. Kettil was probably teasing. "As for Endy? She prefers to hunt her own food and eat her own things, but she will take treats if I made her something."
Kettil stole a bit of frosting to taste using a fingertip to do so.
Mmm, sweet.

At first, Xiu wasn't really sure how to react. After all, having her nose nommed on by a oven-mitt-puppet had been the last thing she would have expected, and she looked like she was going cross eyed trying to stare at it. However, after a few seconds passed, she let out a little giggle and gave Kettil's hands a gentle swat.
Okay, so she had ended up picking out a pretty awesome little brother, and hopefully "awesome little brother" would translate into "awesome new friend" once their time as siblings was over and done with.
Grinning, she swept a hand out to motion towards all the decorations, lifting her brows at the reaper expectantly. "So you say, but...make sure to make her the best cupcake that you can, okay? There are lots of colors and candies to choose from!" She would have made suggestions, but she had no idea what kind of things--or colors, even--Freya liked. At the mention of treats for his familiar, the ghoul hummed thoughtfully. "I don't know if you plan on baking a whole lot more int he future, but I have a recipe for treats that she may like if you'd like me to jot it down. But first! We pipe all the cupcakes and you can add whatever candies you want."
Grabbing a piping bag and some icing, she demonstrated how to make a perfect swirl on one of the cupcakes, decorating it by using a piping bag with a smaller tip to draw intricate designs on the top.

Kettil beamed at Xiu even as she swatted him for his antics. This ghoul could relax and have fun, he approved. He shifted a bit in thought as she went out motioning toward everything set before them. Kettil just smirked mischievously, "Make one just to smush it in Freya's face like she smushed hers into mine," he said almost sounding devious.
He watched her technique and seemed thoughtfully before he moved to mimic her carefully selecting pink colored icing to use, "To be honest," he murmured sounding a little sad, "not sure Freya'd eat it. She's been having ... issues with eating." Kettil stared down at the semi-perfect swirl he'd made.
...Would she eat it cause he made it for her or still turn her nose up at it?
Somehow the thought hurt his feelings more than the real possible outcome.
The Muut shook his head and plastered a smile back on his face, "That'll be okay," he said simply trying to believe his own words as he started to add small star shaped crystal-like candies onto the pink frosted cupcake.
