Name: Klaus
Nicknames: Grumpykins, Grouch, Groucho, Claws
Breed: Snowshoe/Maine Coon mix
*
Attached to: Chibi Sailor Euprhosyne

Alignment: Order
Blood Type: A
Fav. Food: Anything salty, preferably human processed snakes such as potato chips, pretzels, salted peanuts, anything that’s coated in salt. He doesn’t even eat much of it; he’ll simply lick away the salt.
Hated Food: Animal organs or anything too sugary and sweet. He doesn’t like cupcakes, or cookies, or chocolate bars, or ice cream. He’ll eat sea salt ice cream, but that’s as close to sweet as he’ll tolerate.
Hobbies:Knowledge is Power - Klaus is constantly on the prowl, but he doesn’t have his eyes set on treats, or rats or prey. He quests for something more important than that, far more valuable than anything that money and riches could bring. Knowledge. Klaus will do just about anything for valuable intel, even should it mean having to play ‘adorable’ to the humans of Destiny City to obtain it. He can be seen, prowling from place to place, listening in on conversations, watching the news on the loud, obnoxious televisions, even going as far as to snatch a few newspapers from the dumpster (honestly, did humans have no respect for the work that goes into the spread of news to the public?) or recycle bins. To Klaus, knowledge is power, and power is something that a guardian cat valued more than human companionship and treats combined! Unless those treats are salty... then Klaus is willing to negotiate.
How about a little game of Chess? - When Klaus isn’t rummaging dumpsters for newspapers and magazines that the humans waste, he can be seen in the park, snooping around where the senior citizens may be and weaseling his way into their creaky, shaky old laps and watching them engage in a game of chess. Little do those humans know, Klaus isn’t there for the snuggles (he'd be just as happy if they WOULDN’T touch him), but he’s there to engage in the game. Klaus doesn’t get much free time, but when he does, he gets his brain powers on and the game he craves is Chess, or anything that requires strategy or brain power. He learned from the best in the park, and if he didn’t dislike humans so much (as well as having a reputation as a normal cat to uphold), he would openly engage all of them. He knew he could beat them... if he weren’t a Mauvian masquerading as a boring, disgruntled feral cat, that is. Fortunately for them.

There’s a Song in My Heart - Klaus is a very proud, if not very unsociable Mauvian, and when he’s not scouring the human world for information or stuck schooling old men and their chess pieces (or attempting to use Senshi as chess pieces), he has a secret hobby, a hobby that he holds quite dear to him and will go through unimaginable lengths to avoid others from seeing it. That is singing. Klaus’s range is a little low, but he can hit all of the baritone, even bass, notes fairly well (in his own opinion), and once he’s certain he’s alone, he’ll often try to cheer himself up or relax with a little moonlight serenade. Of course, if he sees someone nearby or is rudely interrupted, he’ll go through unimaginable lengths to try covering it up, claiming that he was hacking up a hairball or perhaps trying to recite an old war strategy... assuming he doesn’t attempt to claw the offender’s ears right off, that is. But, there is a song in his heart, one that he is not quite willing to share, but cannot even think to deny its existence.
Virtues:A Victory for Strategy - Klaus doesn’t just spend his time gathering intel and raging out over old geezers making foolish moves in chess because he gets some kind of sick jolly out of watching the humans suffer. Every newspaper article he cuts out, every move that is made, every word that the news anchor says, all of it has its practical use, and Klaus believes that this is the way to win the ongoing prattle they called a war. Klaus isn’t the type to engage in a physical fight, and there was little need to when there were grunts around to do that for him. Instead, he prefers to command the grunts. Be the one that barks (or rather, meows) orders from the sidelines and take the necessary steps to ensure a victory for his team. He’ll observe enemy’s movements, habits, strengths and weaknesses from a safe distance, then try to form a plan of attack best suited to bring his side a victory.
Eyes on the Prize - You can trust Klaus for three things: he will always pick a salty treat over a sugary one, he likely doesn’t like you, and he’ll never hide this fact from anyone. Klaus doesn’t believe in sugarcoating things; why should he consider such trivial things such as feelings, egos and emotions when he’s only saying what he perceives to be true? He’s very straightforward and honest, which works well in making him a great, if not harsh, critic or leader. If there is someone wrong, he won’t hesitate for a second to let you know; he understands that perfection isn’t always possible (how could it be when you’re human?), but he knows that one cannot improve himself or herself if one doesn’t know their own flaws and seeks to correct them. He’d make for a great teacher, if he were to exercise some tact, but he does mean for the best.

A Mauvian Faithful and True - Klaus might be strict as a teacher and even a stick in the mud, but he always means the best for his Senshi and allies. Though many would be wary of approaching a feline that looked rather gnarly and down on his luck (and his humanoid form isn’t that much better), once Klaus has taken someone under his fuzzy ‘wings’, he sticks with them, through thick and thin, good times and mostly bad, until he is certain that they’re ready to fly on their own. Not that he has much hope that his work will ever be done, but regardless of who the Senshi is, their strengths, weaknesses, virtues and flaws, Klaus will stick with them, either nipping at their heels or perched on their shoulder, whispering directions or rare words of encouragement with his low, drawling voice of his in their ear.
Flaws:All Work and No Play - Klaus is all about work, work, work. He wakes up and after getting his morning meal, he immediately sets out on his ongoing quest for intel. Klaus has little time to waste, and because there is so much information to gather and so much to do, Klaus has little time to relax. Even when he’s sitting on a senior citizen’s lab in the park, he’s never there for long, either because the idiot has put himself in a corner or he catches wind of what might be valuable intel in another part of the park or elsewhere in Destiny City (or, you know, a Senshi needs awakening or an upgrade- hilarious how they never notice Klaus until they NEED something, then he has a name!). Klaus’ inability to relax has left him in piss poor shape; despite his heavy Maine Coon coat, he was actually rather thin, and fur on his once beautiful Maine Coon tail have been gnawed off from frustration. Klaus would love to relax, but he simply doesn’t have the faith in his unit required to take such a desired break.
There’s No Crying in War! - Don’t take it personal if Klaus doesn’t wave hello or compliment you on your new hairstyle or upgrade. Don’t expect Klaus to notice how extra-super-awesome your attacks or powers may be, though if you miss your opponent or make a mistake, he’ll gladly jump on your case about it. Klaus is, simply put, a sourpuss. Klaus is abrasive and brash when it comes to talking with others, even his own Mauvians, and while he believes that what he’s doing is for the best, it can make him extremely unapproachable and tactless. And why should he care for tact or class? To Klaus, this was an ongoing war, with both sides making mistakes and terrible judgment, and if either side would simply drop the charade and do their job, then the war could be over. Klaus has little thought or care when someone else’s feelings are on the line, and he certainly doesn’t put up with someone else needing their ego to be stroked. Want a pat on the back? Go fluff yourself and come back after you’ve won the war, human!

There’s a Wall There - Klaus’ rather cold nature and workaholic attitude hasn’t necessarily left a good impression on the Mauvian cat, nor to others around him. He has a reputation for being cold, distant, never completely satisfied and only sticking with a project (A senshi, for example) only because he’s too stubborn to know when to quit. Yet, Klaus does have a small, barely alive tender side that he hides somewhere under his limp fur and tawny bones, a part that he seldom exposes to allies and never his enemies. To him, war is all consuming and should be taken care of first, with emotions, personal feelings and silly things such as true affections and attachment dealt with secondary, if even at all. He tries to keep a strong wall between business and pleasure, never allowing the two to mingle or meet, in fear of it being used against him, nor his allies. Behind closed doors and with MUCH prodding, he’s likely to show some smallest hint of affection, but in public and especially in a sticky situation, don’t expect anything more than him yelling battle tactics or advice from the sidelines or even a helpful claw to the enemy’s face or back.
