Zia wasn't actively patrolling at this point, but rather, found a high perch on a building and just kind of sat there. She hadn't bothered powering up into what she referred as 'Zirconia's skin' in so long that briefly being a feline to even get up here felt weird as all ********, which is why she decided to take a breather, even if a normal person probably wouldn't be comfortable with their sneakers free dangling off such a high drop.
Heights barely registered on the young monster hunter's radar.
The possibility of patrolling powered folks was, but even then, the neutral 20-something had made allies and enemies on all sides but the DMC and wasn't especially worried unless some mirror b***h decided to bother her.
Maybe stargazing in awkward patrol spots wasn't the brightest idea she had, but half her patrolling these days was less for monsters and more for knights and information to add to her collection anyway.

"Don't slip." He had considered saying something along the lines of ' Don't jump', when he spotted the girl on the opposite rooftop. In her human form, the closest he came to recognizing Zirconia's host was noting vaguely that he'd met a cat with hair that color, which was interesting at the level of seeing a redhead in the crowd and remembering that you had a cousin who was also a redhead. He paused for a moment, then jumped the space between roof tops without waiting for an invitation to do so, testing the limits on his new abilities as a recently promoted Captain. A process that hadn't turned out to offer up the satisfaction or sense of purpose he'd been hoping for. "Damn." he added as he landed and looked around. "I was half hoping you were up here planning to drop water balloons or paint on people." He was only half kidding about that, having trouble thinking of reasons for someone to be up here that didn't involve being senshi or agent. Stargazing didn't even occur to him. Or purposefully lying in wait for people the press had concluded were terrorists. (Not entirely inaccurately. Ixion, he still felt, was a tiny terror.)

Zia glanced over her shoulder, cigarette she was in the process of lighting holding her head in place from turning too much. Her brows quirked at the approach, and then she looked down past her sneakers at the occasional passerby, entirely unaware of what was above them. And then she threw her head back and laughed. "I guess I could flick cigarette butts at 'em, but I don't think it'll be the show you were hoping for."
It took her a minute to recognize him. Oh, Realgar, you sad baby. Captain? Really? She was kind of hoping he'd get out, not find a way to get deeper in.
"I know you?" She asked, trying to pretend she had no idea who this guy was. New identity, new skin.
"Negaverse, right?" She could at least skip the lecture she got from lieutenants trying to 'save her' about how she couldn't possibly comprehend their war.

"You're pretty well informed." He noted, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "Yeah. Negaverse." He added in confirmation. As far as he knew there was no reason to lie about it. It wasn't as though she could show up at his job and ask him how the war was going. He put a foot on the ledge and peered over at the people walking below, oblivious and happy to be so. "Don't worry, just stretching my legs at the moment." He added, with a slight smile as he considered the idea of flicking cigarettes down below. "Bet I could make a few of them jump." He suggested, not seriously, pulling out one of his Caltrops and holding it pinched between his fingers, before putting it back away. "Well... probably not. Street light would pick em up." He could flatten some tires if he was that damn bored, but he wasn't yet. It was an idea for later though.

"Well informed human is the game here," Zia said with a nod, pausing to take a few puffs. "I mean, it's like you buy a Moon Queen lunch and suddenly you're catapulted into a load of bullshit and the entire time everyone neglected to give me ******** all for powers. So. I mean, it can't be helped, I guess you gotta be born a senshi or a knight? But uh, it's still kind of shitty."
Well, from her point of view it was a true assessment of her situation. Even if Nehelenia did give her power to help on her mission, Zia failed to see how turning into a house cat was going to help against people who had magical attack potential and stabbity weapons. Speaking of...
"Oh damn, those look like they'd be a b***h to deal with." There was the smallest hint of admiration. It was such a small thing, but caltrops seemed like an almost elegant alternative to the showy destructive weapons she'd seen before.
"Oh, should I be worried?" She laughed when he told her not to. "Not planning on draining me or getting your hands on this starseed?" She was only teasing, of course, she was afraid of neither course of action.

"Pft. No. If I wanted to get some energy I'd look for a bigger crowd." He opted not to share his favorite location, he'd already had someone try and give him a hot foot there. "Caltrops. They used to use them against Calvary, foot soldiers... vehicles. They look like what a nocturnal-foot-biting-Lego dreams of growing up to be." Born to be a senshi or knight? He just kept stumbling backward into interesting information, since Negaverse agents were knights...plus chaos. That of course assumed she knew what she was talking about, but everything else she had said lined up. "You seriously bought a moon queen lunch?" He asked, clearly amused. He kinda liked this girl. She had attitude.

Zia ended up throwing her head back and laughing out loud at his description of what his weapon did. "s**t, that's ******** evil, man. Like, I mean, I think that is the first legitimately evil Negaversy thing I've seen. Besides Painite."
"Mm," She paused to think, and smoke, before she nodded. "Yeah. I mean, she didn't exactly scream holy-hell-space-queen when I saw her, she just looked kind of sad? And then my dog ate her sandwich. So I buy her lunch and BAM! Magic s**t everywhere and shitty missions and... again... no powers. Really? Come on, universe, it's the least you could do over here."
But then her light, joking demeanor soured a little and she shrugged. "Course she's dead now. Whatever, I ain't crying for her. There's still the little pink haired b***h and that mirror wannabe left to go anyway." The the mention of the 'wannabe' did make her absentmindedly brush the crescent moon the b***h had burned into her chest. She didn't even realize it.
"Anyway, just taking break up here. Cracking skulls is hard work when you're just a puny human," She said, giving him a wink and a grin before patting the space next to her on the ledge. "You can sit if you want."

"I've met Painite. She's an alright lady." Very... Theatrical but then he thought he might have heard that she actually worked in a theater...or was he just assuming that detail? Anyway she was both fun and colorful. "... I think I met the pink haired one once. Well... not ... met. Let's just say I offered her a chair." Firmly. With a nice backhand swing. "I think the only thing I'd offer the other one is my seat because I'd be leaving." Ares creeped him the hell out, and that was saying something. He liked to think he didn't creep out so easily these days. "So not only do you buy lunch for alien royalty, you also go around cracking skulls?" He laughed, taking her invitation to sit beside her. "Lady I should buy you a sandwich." He glanced sidelong, trying not to make it too obvious when she reached to touch the spot on her chest. The gesture seemed significant enough to pay attention to. "God, I love that b***h," Zia cackled about Painite, even if she'd been in a mood the last time they'd spoken. Oh, and kept trying to kill her friends. Awkward. "Like, serious girl crush over here. I mean she might be a murderous psycho, but she's a psycho with style."
"Mm, the pink haired one? Yeah, get this. She's the whole reason those parallel assholes are even here. Yeah, she like, basically decided to commit an act of war and they all followed here. But now she just kind of cries about how nothing is her fault and she doesn't do s**t and her life is sad or something." Actually Zia had only seen Chibimoon in large meetings, but since all she did was sulk and pout, she filled in her own blanks with assumptions and guesses. And the following conclusion.
"Her face is the most punchable one ever."
She purposefully skipped over Ares. It was hard to talk about without giving herself away, although in her various rages she'd figured out a few cryptic terms to elaborate on her situation without announcing 'hi, I'm a vehicle for the last uncorrupted parallel'.
"Oh, bro, man, you are totally free to send all sandwiches and admiration my way. I am starving. Like, all the time." Two months ago Zia set a goal to get back in shape. Her Blood Moon Court shape. Which was like basic military training with the added urgency of Valhalla's stupid knight experiments and just succeeded in forming a stress eating spree that would never, ever be over.
She opened her mouth to say something, and remembered she wasn't supposed to know his name. Which she covered her a** with, "OH, sorry, I'm Zia," And held out her hand to the socially obligatory hand shake, hoping he'd give her something in response. Ryuthulhu Oh! Sorry. Feel free to assume either way <3

"Seriously? Pinkie did that?" Goddamn, she was just a font of information. "Well, guess I don't have to feel bad about macking her in the head with a chair." Not that he'd felt too torn up over it in the first place. Except the part where she'd powered up right afterward. "Extra punching points for that little gift to humanity." He grumbled, thinking of Ares and her Senshi. Corrupted senshi among the Negaverse might have been largely a bunch of creepy dolls, but you sort of knew where you stood with them. "Realgar." He offered, not comfortable offering her his real name. Maybe another time. If there was another time. "I'll have to give you a rain check on the sandwich." He'd have had to power down to get to his wallet, and he wasn't sure he wanted to do that right this moment, even if she was the best company he'd had in a while. The scar was interesting, he caught a glimpse of it when her hand dropped. It looked like a crescent moon, and he was pretty sure he'd seen it before, but the pieces weren't fitting together right now, just shifting around and being tantalizingly out of reach. Ugh. FRUSTRATING.

"Haaa, no problem," Zia played it light, as always, but the fact was she didn't want to know anything about his other identity. Less odds of getting him killed. "So... captain Realgar," She teased, pausing only to stare at a spent filter in her fingers and flicking it down below. "You managed to hit her with a chair? That's hilarious."
She caught some attention given to the brand, entirely oblivious to the fact she'd drawn it herself. It was impossible not to think about when Ares was the topic, though. She was just so goddamn angry about it.
"Don't worry, still not a senshi," She said in mocking assurance, thinking maybe that's what it was. She wasn't the only one out there with crescent moon scars. "I mean, I know a few of them have a burn mark like this. It's not a senshi thing, it's an Ares thing," But it was hard to keep up her whole 'I just don't give a ******** anymore' demeanor with this. She frowned and broke eye contact, opting to glare down at the people under her feet.
"Before Ares had the ability to throw people through mirrors and turn them into creepy slave dolls she used to burn people she thought she owned with marks. Like ******** cattle. 'To show you're loyal' she said. Bull ******** s**t, I don't think holding people down and burning s**t into them is the way to make friends they teach in social skills class." Zia may have been biased, having been probably the only unwilling participant in the whole branding issue, and it was very likely the people around her at the time had no idea. It was hard to convey such when there was an alien soul in control of your body.
"So yeah, I cut that leash a long time ago, but I still owe her a mirror shard between the eyes for this little number. And I guess that whole 'trying to take over the planet' deal. But I'm not saying I'd cry if, I don't know, someone brought me her dismembered head for Christmas"

"Restating the obvious but ********, she's got some problems doesn't she?" The second that treacherous, scheming b***h tried going after him with a branding iron was the day he shoved a caltrop into her eye socket. He hadn't felt comfortable with her as an ally, not for one minute, and the more the stories added up the more he wanted her gone entirely. She wasn't safe as an enemy, she wasn't safe as a friend, she wasn't safe alive. "I'll ask Santa if I see him." He added, half kidding. He'd like that under the tree himself. He really would. "I'd as what you were to her but..." He heaved a sigh, crossing his arms. "I don't think that's something I want to know." Not right now. No... that wasn't true. He did want to know, but he didn't know that it was safe to know. Not if she pulled a Rota again. Mirror mirror on the wall, who was the creepiest one of all... "Yeah though, I hit Pinkie with a chair. It was at this friggin auditorium, all I had to use was a hand full of kid toys or my brain, so I used my brain and then used the convinient folding chairs that were hanging around. Thought it would be a sight more efficient than trying to jam a kids toy up her nose. Jacks. Seriously. Did anyone even know how to play Jacks? "Apparently senshi level up or some s**t when you hit them with chairs though, or she did anyway. I'd recommend something like a truck maybe if you wanted to try it. If they respawn after that s**t, I declare they're cockroaches."

"Ayup," Hypocritical Zia was hypocritical, considering the fantasies she had if she had of what she would do if she had a shred of universal power she felt was wasted on half of the losers frolicking around Destiny City, but she was clearly more bitter about Ares' issues than her own.
She laughed at the respawning bit. "I hate to be the one to confirm hey most definitely do." Respawning sounded like an excellent description for the endless reincarnation cycle, especially with how many of them insisted on living out the same relationships of the past when they started remembering.
"Though you'd probably get a reprieve of a few years." Or, you know, a millennium.
She had been mulling over the 'what you were to her' statement in her head with an awkward expression. And she really couldn't help, on a subconscious level, keeping her fingers from going to that scar. She was too bitter to let it go, even in the back of her mind.
"I'm not anything to her anymore anyway," She ended up declaring. "She probably doesn't even remember me," She said, giving of a casual shrug.
"Super powered aliens and nights and Chaos agents, who gives a ******** about a few lives the slip through the cracks, right?" While Zia always spoke with a layer of chipper, carefree flair, now more than ever that layer was transparently just a cover for a broiling rage and bitter hatred.
"I mean, ********, especially when they're just human and have no powers to speak of or grand universal destiny to take place in, what are they gonna do, amiright?"
Both hands flopped on the ledge to her side to hold her up as she leaned into his personal space with a grin. "You're not so bad, though. But you're also just a captain. All the captains and lieutenants I meet aren't so bad. But every time I end up in the same room as a general it always ends up with a stabbing or something." She reached over to pet his hair, because Zia's respect for personal boundaries was a hard zero. "Which would be a shame if that was what was going to happen here eventually because you are very pretty."

"...because you are very pretty" Realgar did his best not to outright choke on the comment in embarrassment, "Well I haven't been stabbed by one of the generals yet... key word might be yet, some of them don't get on too well..." Maybe if he pretended that hadn't come into the conversation he'd look less goofy and embarrassed. ... Or. Maybe he'd look goofy and embarrassed anyway. Zinkenite probably never had that problem. ZINKENITE had the face mask. ... Dude he needed a face mask for conversations like this. Not that they happened very often. "No I'm a grouchy cuss, you're pretty." He retorted, ducking his head slightly like an school kid trying to figure out what to do with a compliment, let alone being gently petted. Carneli super late tagback is super late. I thought you were punctual, Realgar.

Zia sighed like she was trying to bite back disappointment. Part of her wanted to correct him and point out she meant he could possibly become one of those generals, not become their victim.
The other part of her was regretting spilling so many of her guts already. Figuratively, not so much literally as had been the case with Painite.
"It just sucks, you know?" She said as she pulled away and held her phone in her lap, tapping on the blank screen with fingers from both hands. "I don't think you people realize how hard your little gang war is on the rest of us down below. And whether we get involved or play ignorant or try to pick a side... we all end up with ripped starseeds in the end anyway." Her speech had deteriorated to a mumble and while it might've sounded like an indictment of the negaverse to balance out all of her bitching about senshi earlier, it was a quiet reference to a train of logic that only resided in her head. What Nehelenia had done to her, she considered an equivalent of having her starseed devoured, it was just that death was a little more delayed.
"It doesn't matter," She heaved one more sigh and flashed him a tired, empty smile. And then butted foreheads with him, and her smile managed to gain a little bit of life. Even if that life came in the form of an ornery smirk. "You should totally buy me dinner before that happens, you grouchy cuss," She hopped up to her feet and back on the roof to make her way towards the stairwell, shouting back as she dashed her way to her exit, "Yanno! Just to say you did! I am a rare and amazing creature, you know!"
