Name:
Torin
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Apprentice Beastcrafter / Candidate

History: Originally born in Eron, Torin's father decided to travel to Iteos a turn or so after his birth. Why? The boy still has yet to know. However, that was where they settled down. His mother taking up post as a birthing woman and his father worked his way up to the position of Steward at a minor hold beholden to Iteos. Most of the boy's childhood was spent running around with the other children of the hold or following the local harper around. He had an interest in being a harper early on, though he didn't think he'd want to be bound to one hold. Seven turns had passed since their arrival and Torin was given a baby sister, one that he promptly began to spoil. As soon as she was able, he would tote her around wherever he went. He became very protective of her and as they grew older would persuade any males he didn't like to stay away from her. Something she did not like at all.

As turns went by, he began to show a bit of interest in his father's work. Only that interest ended up with his father thinking the boy wanted to follow after his footsteps. The two males tended to butt heads when it came to Torin's future; both too stubborn to give even a small amount. This lead to many fights that his mother would end up cooling and force them to make muttered apologies. As he finally reached his eleventh turn, he "discovered" something. Something amazing. The stables and the beasts that lay inside them. Oh yes, he was caught the moment he first saw one. He even tried to convince his father to send him to the beastcraft hall. But his father claimed he was still too young to leave home yet.

However, he spent more and more time at the stables doing whatever he could. And as the turn went by, he learned more and more about how to take care of them and various other lessons that he could absorb. And then, finally. Finally he was old enough to apprentice out. He demanded his father send him off to the beastcraft. It took many arguments and various bribes/threats from his mother to finally get the older man to agree. Off to the Beastcraft hall he went and was apprenticed there for four turns.

It was barely one turn ago, just a few days after the latest hatching that Torin was spotted for a Search. He'd been wiping down one of the runners when a dragon pair arrived at the hall. Torin wasn't even aware of it as he'd been in the stables for most of the afternoon. So when he walked back to get himself cleaned up for supper, he was blocked by the dragon until a man came. It was the rider, and he offered Torin the chance to Impress a dragon at the hatching. But if he wanted to go, they'd need to leave then. First, he wanted to argue. Who was he to just come in and swoop him up when he'd spent turns, Turns, in this craft. And then a small part of him, that part that he figured was in every young boy, had him thinking about the possibility of actually Impressing to a dragon. Debating with himself, he finally came to t he conclusion that he would go to the Weyr. BUT, as soon as he aged out, he'd be back to the beastcraft and get on with his life.

He never expected what would happen. Whers revolting and attacking the Weyr, not just Trine but all three of them. A trap, betrayal! How could they? Dragons had been protecting Pern forever, how could the whers expect to compete with that? It was frustrating and scary all wrapped into one. Luckily Trine did not fall, they succeeded in repelling the attackers and saving the Weyr. Though it was severely damaged. Time to rebuild and Torin would help. This was his home until he was twenty-one. And he was somewhat protective. Sharding whers.

Thankfully, the Weyr was getting cleaned up rather nicely and there would be eggs soon. Both a gold and a crimson had flown, so surely there would be a chance to Stand. Hopefully.

Description: Standing at six foot one, Torin is considered the tallest of his family; easily out growing his father. His skin is tanned from the many hours spent in the sun working or doing chores. However, it's not his height or his frame that one would notice first. His eyes have a way of getting people's attention seemingly effortlessly. The orbs are a light amber color with a small ring of green close to the center. His gaze is usually thoughtful and it seems as if he's always thinking about something. Torin has a few freckles here and there that don't really stand out very much with his skin tone. His hair is usually a mess, no matter how hard he attempts to tame it. While straightish, he often times is found running his hands through the deep chocolate stands or pulling at a lock here and there. [And he wonders why he can never keep it neat.] While used to hard labor, he certainly got much better at if after arriving at the weyr. His body is constantly getting worked and it shows. His hands are rough to the touch and there are times when he hardly notices how dirty he can get.

Personality: If there's one thing Torin is most known for, it would be his stubbornness. Once he has an idea in his head, he'll stick to it and there is nothing that could sway him from that path. Which isn't always a good thing. He had trouble making friends when he was younger, but as the turns passed being social came easily to him. He finds it easy to talk to people and if in the right company, can enjoy spending time with people. He can make a great friend, if you take the time to become one.

Somewhat of a farmboy, Torin will work as hard as he can to keep things running smoothly. He's proven to be a fast learner and will practice almost daily on something that catches his interest. He's also observant, taking the time to observe his surroundings and picking up on things most people would miss. When it comes to his friends and family, the boy has an unwavering loyalty. They are his loved ones after all, and he'd been damned before he'd let any of them getting hurt or messed with. If he does manage to see someone doing anything to them, you can expect him to explode. The boy has a short temper when it comes to bullies. Yes, he has been in several fights, most of them to defend either himself or his friends/family. He is not afraid to fight for what he feels is right or for those he loves. He can make a great friend, if you take the time to become one.

Beasts, mainly runners, are his favorite subject. When excited about something that happened within the stables, Torin begins to talk fast, almost slurring his words together. He can't help himself. He just gets so excited that he doesn't pay attention to the words because his mind is going a mile a minute. Most things beyond this topic are deemed not as important and are easily forgotten.

At times, he's known to be rather blunt. Especially if it's in a situation where he cannot see another way. There's also times when he can't read the mood to attempt to put it in a more gentle way.

People he does not like will know. He will be make sure you know if you're in his favor or not. These people should be prepared for sarcastic remarks about anything they do or say. In fact, his whole attitude towards them is completely sarcastic, as if he can not treat them seriously. And he does not feel bad about it, after all, they gave him a reason not to like them. Be wary of actually making him angry, Torin is quite capable of holding a grudge.

Now if he finds a female who sparks his interests, he can be confident and flirts easily. But it will take a bit before they can really spark his interest. He'd be a hard catch.

Other: He tends to talk out loud to himself sometimes. You can usually tell by his unfocused gaze and a hand tugging at his hair. He's also been known to be a bit handy when around a runner who's giving birth.
