It was one of Arilee's few night where she wasn't out patrolling the streets of Destiny City as Sailor Chariklo. And it felt weird to not be bouncing around the rooftops looking for people to steal energy from. Still, a night off duty once in a while was kind of nice.
Even nicer was knowing that she now had her own place with a small, soft and warm puppy waiting for her. Smiling to herself, she snuggled deeper into her coat and found herself lost in pleasant thoughts. Things were... going well. Granted, she only had a few days left until the deadline, but things would work out.
Arilee was so lost in her contented thoughts that she'd failed to remember that not being powered up made her vulnerable to the whims of anyone who was out patrolling.

Eyes watched the girl in the jacket from the roof tops. Toutatis sure wished she could have a jacket. But well that might be more of a hindrance but ******** she was cold.
Wishing that her fuku came with a winter form, she hopped from roof top to roof top. Follow the mo-hawk girl with interest. She seemed lost in her own thoughts, which was good. Meant it would be easier to just take her by surprise, suck some energy from her and go. No real issues. At least hopefully.
Toutatis just really wasn't in the mood tonight for things to go sour.

Maybe some sort of sixth sense prodded at Arilee's subconscience, causing her to glance up quickly. However, she saw nothing and shrugged to herself, shaking her head a bit over her paranoia.
"You're wound to tight, girl," she muttered to herself. It was more than time she got home.

Toutatis had ducked behind a part of the building she was standing on when Arilee had looked up. That was a close one, perhaps too close. Now seemed a better time than any. Once the girl had gotten into an area where there was no one around, she silently crept from the roof top and took off through the shadows to get a bit ahead of her path. Tapping her left bracer, she summoned her mirror wraith. It writhed and panted. Almost like an excited dog ready to go for a walk. She merely pointed a finger at Arilee as she passed by where Toutatis had hidden herself. To which the wraith instantly took off, barreling its way towards the unsuspecting girl.

If there was one thing that Arilee had learned to recognize in her time as a Dark Mirror, it was the sensation of energy being gently siphoned off. She'd had it happen at that rave and she was sure as ******** not going to let it happen again.
That someone had targeted her for energy theft was infuriating. And if whoever it was wanted to play dirty, she'd play right back. Pretending to stumble, she went down on one knee, hands braced against the ground and head bowed. Hopefully it would look like she was just another easy victim. In fact, she was anything but as one hand scrabbled quickly for a decent sized rock to throw as her eyes cut around, searching out where her attacker might be hiding.
To her eyes, there was really only one bit of cover that offered up enough shadows to properly hide it. Fingers tightening around the rock, she reared up quickly and threw the rocks into the shadows where she suspected the other was hiding.

"OW GOD DAMMIT!" Was all that came from the shadows as the rocks were thrown at her. Toutatis had certainly not expected that at least. Most people were good little energy meat bags and let themselves be siphoned without a fight. Those rocks ******** hurt! Way to ruin her night. It was worse than that one time that Chibi threw sand in her face. Most anyway. It wouldn't be the first time she came across someone who retaliated. This chick seemed tough tho. There was really only one thing to do. Immobilize and hope for the best. "Toutatis Horror Creeps...." What Arilee saw stepping from the shadows was not Toutatis herself, but an illusion that she wore. Something that only Arilee could see. Something that filled her with dread and horror. Toutatis didn't use her power often, it left her tired half the time. She preferred the secrecy of what her powers actually did in all truth. That way is would surprise it's victims.

Satisfaction in her aim was quickly replaced by a sort of horrified curiosity as she heard what sounded like a senshi attack. Had one of the Negaverse's Corrupteds targeted her? And then even that thought was swallowed whole as something shuffled out of the shadows.
And then, even that didn't matter as the form of what exactly was coming out to get her revealed itself. A horrified sob choked her as she found herself looking down at the burned, twisted and broken body of her mother. Her mother, just as she'd looked after the accident that had taken her away. Glassy eyes glared accusingly at her, as if it were Arilee's fault that she was still locked in her body, still suffering as said body scrabbled across the concrete.
The tall girl felt tears blinding her as she stumbled backwards as fast as she could. Her skin crawled as she saw shattered bones piercing burned and blistered flesh. And then, the thing opened it's mouth and a bubble of black blood burst as her own name was whispered, "Arrriiiii..."
Almost without thinking, Arilee screamed and powered up, determined to end this thing that wore her mother's destroyed face. She'd put her mother back to rest if it killed her.
"Chariklo Power, Make-up!"
Almost before the henshin magic had worn away, Chariklo was already moving, scooping up a heavy branch from the ground. With another scream, this time accompanied by hysterical sobbing, she swung at her mother's face.
"Mommy, mommy, I'm so sorry, mommy. I'll make sure you don't hurt anymore, Mommy, I promise. Please don't be mad at me, Mommy."

Oh s**t. The realization that this girl was not only a senshi but a fellow Dark Mirror like herself hit Toutatis hard. As did the branch to the face as it sent her reeling back. Falling hard onto the pavement, her illusion broken. The hard wood splitting her lip. A dribble of blood running down her chin as she brought her arms up over her head and curled up into a ball on the cold concrete. She supposed it was her own fault. Toutatis never knew exactly what it was that people saw. So if it was something deeply troubling there was always that chance it would push them over the edge. Horror was unrelenting. It did not discriminate between friend and foe. Touching everyone in the deepest part of their souls.

Through her tears, she could see that the branch had connected with her mother's jaw. She was treated to a brief vision of her mother's jaw flying and trailing red-black gobbets of flesh before even that vanished and was replaced with a girl huddled on the ground screaming back at her.
Blinking, crying and in general not looking awesome, Chariklo stared at the girl for a moment. Then, realization dawned on her that she'd been attacked by one of her own. By another Dark Mirror. So, that was how it was going to be, huh? Well then, fine. Horrible anger surged forward to fill the place in her heart so recently vacated by the screaming horrors and she swung the branch again, intending to beat the ever living hell out of the girl. However, tear blinded as she was, her swing went wide and missed completely.
"How dare you do that to me," she snarled, dropped the branch and looking for all the world as if she was considering leaping forward and locking her fingers around the other girl's neck.

Augh, honest mistake was honest.
Now this other chick was pissed. Great. Just great. She knew she probably just should have stayed home tonight. Having already done a s**t ton of patrolling this week anyway. What was one night off?
She cringed at Chariklo's last swing of the branch, but breathed a small sigh of relief as it swung wide and missed her. Her face bloodied and eyebrows knit from the stinging pain in her lip, she pushed herself up off the ground. Scrambling quickly to her feet. Pale blue eyes narrowing at the other DMC.
"Yea well, excuse me if I don't know who the ******** you are. Ya know its not all that easy to tell which civilians are our ok kay." She jabbed a finger through the air at Chariklo. "At least my attack was mostly harmless. You hit me in the ******** face with a tree branch!"

While even in her rage filled state of mind, Chariklo had to concede the other girl's logic. To a point anyway. Mostly harmless, her lily white a**!
"Mostly harmless?" the words raced up and ended on an octave crack. "You stupid b***h, I saw my mother as a broken, twisted ghoul! How in the ******** hell is that harmless?"
Maybe when she was calmer she could look back on this night with something approaching reason. Hell, maybe once her feels were done being twisted into a knot, she'd be more willing to forgive the other Dark Mirror and realize that she hadn't purposely conjured up images of Chariklo's dead mom to ******** with her.
But that time was not now. With another screech, she summoned her magic to her, "Mobbing Call!"
Let the other girl deal with a few ghostly seagulls as they beat her head and face with their wings. Hard on the hells of her magic, Chariklo followed, her fist already balled and aiming for the other girl's stomach. Much as she wanted to kill, she knew enough to pull her punch at the last moment. Impact would hurt, but nothing would be ruptured.

Alright, alright. So maybe her magic wasn't all that harmless. At least it didn't do any serious physical harm. Unless someone ran off screaming and got hit by a bus. Even still, the physical retaliation from the girl was an annoyance. Toutatis hadn't meant anything personal by it. She could not control what it was that people saw. And then the magic came out. s**t. She raised her arms to cover her head and face from the ghosty seagull things. Honestly, the bleeding lip was enough for her. She didn't want her eyes scratched out or whatever. Of course, raising her arms was probably the biggest mistake since Chariklo had an open shot at her stomach. For a second there Toutatis thought she was about to vomit as she felt the impact of Chariklo's fist. But she bit back the feeling of her esophagus shortening long enough to clench her own fist and whip it around towards her head.

The feeling of a fist striking her head was enough to, momentarily, beat the crazy out of Chariklo. At the taste of her own blood, she reeled back, eyes blank for a moment before something cold and not entirely sane came flooding back.
Staring at the white haired senshi for a moment, she deliberately took a step back. Then another. Standing so still that she seemed almost doll-like, Chariklo watched the other girl.
"You," she croaked in a hoarse, tear choked voice. "You get one more shot. I won't move, but make it count. Then, I don't want to see you anywhere near me for a while. Yes?"
It wasn't much, but it was an effort to make some sort of amends. THough, Chariklo couldn't exactly tell yet whether or not she'd ever like this strange senshi.

Now she was confused. First this chick was beating up on her, now she wanted her to hit her? And people thought she was weird? She blinked a couple of times, straightening herself as she tried to make some sense of the situation before on. So she wanted her to hit her to make things even? "Pffftyeahaha. No way dude. You are ******** crazy. Next thing I know I'll wake up somewhere with a black bag over my head and car batteries hooked up to my tits. No I think I'm good." She rubbed at her stomach, the wave of nausea almost gone. Right now she just wanted to leave. Go back to the dorm and forget this crazy s**t even happened.

In spite of herself, Chariklo couldn't help the bark of laughter that burst its way from her throat at the other senshi's words. The mental image was just too funny.
"Sounds a little too complicated to me. I prefer straightforward punching things, not that Hostel style s**t."
A tiny amount of the tension visibly drained from her body with those words. But the cold fire in her sunset colored eyes burned a little brighter. She'd been fighting against a deadline that was almost up. Clearly, she'd been taking her anger out on the wrong person. On someone who hadn't really deserved it.
"I," she started, not entirely sure how to proceed. "I... will try to make it up to you. The punchy stuff, I mean. Somehow. And I'll explain about my mom sometime. Or I'll try, I dunno."
For the first time in her life, she wasn't sure what to think of someone. She'd have to sort it out later. Maybe then, she could look at her without wanting to shake and break things.
But for now, she made a jerky nod and darted away. Her brain was on fire and she had things to do before the night was over. She had a deadline to meet.
