Moira was leaning back in a chair in the library that the Academy had, her long pink hair was done up in a messy bun as she poured over the book in front of her with stack to the right of her. As much as she tried, she was having a hard time concentrating on trying to decipher what some of the books were talking about, more so those that talked about the war before the Academy was founded.
Sighing, she pushed the book away, finding nothing about the information that she was looking for in it. "Who knew trying to find out how this works could be so hard?" Moira asked in a breathy whisper, pushing her bangs out of her eyes and looking to her husband, wondering if he had any luck.

At first Vic really did try reading the books, he gave it his best but to him they were all just so boring. He was never really the research type except when it came to something else but this wasn't one of those things. For some time he pretended to ready but even that got boring. Then he tried to listen to his mp3 but that soon ran out of batteries. Finally he just began to use the books as if they were building blocks which actually entertained him until they came crashing down when Moira spooked him. Clearing his throat, he tried pretending as if he had been fooling around the whole time. "Exactly. Can't we just as one of those old farts to help?" He sighed and leaned on his hand as he looked to Moira. "Would save us all the time trying to find out and reading this crappy books." Gently he pushed the book in front of him away, hoping to not do anymore ready or well pretending to read.

Phyllida watches the two adults with mild curiosity. So they did come. Earlier while she was browsing the books, she had one of her...moments where she caught a glimpse of a previous or future instance. Of course, she was dazed for half an hour afterwards, but all was well now. Apparently this time it was a future event she had seen.
Phyl scratches her head, glancing at the books they were reading and wondering what said literature contained. Would it be awkward to ask them? Probably. Does that stop her?
...yeah, usually it does. She isn't all that social anyway. But, much to her chagrin, Cupid is. And Cupid deemed it absolutely vital to fly over to the male, and make a nest on his head! Wonderful plan Cupid! A+, would repeat again, Phyl tenses slightly "Aack, Tick you feather brain! That is not inCOGnito Tock!" Cupid politely wriggles his tail feathers in response, and Phyl's face meets her hand. Birds.

"I know it would save us time, Vic, but I'd rather keep this a secret.. besides, I think we're supposed to find out how to do it on our own.. like it's some rite of passage.." Moira said grumpily, crossing her arms over her chest and closing her eyes for a few seconds before opening them again when she heard a voice in the library. One she hadn't heard before.
As she opened her eyes, she soon saw that a strange bird had decided to make it's roost on top of her beloved's head. A small smile crept onto her lipss and within moments she was laughing at the sight.

Vic listen to what Moira said and understood what she wanted but doing it by themselves seemed so boring or at least how they were starting. Sighing heavily he looked away trying to think when he suddenly felt something on his head. It made Vic give a disapproving face and it didn't help that Moira was laughing at him. Their went his cool suave rep he had worked so much to build, well not really but still.
Pulling out his little hand mirror he positioned it to see what had made his hair their cushion. Vic's face became even more unpleased when he saw it was just some bird. Probably what he got for taking such good care of his locks to the point some bird would use it as a next. "Just great." He whispered trying to grab the bird from his head.

Cupid expertly evades Vic's hand, perching on top of his knuckles instead. Phyl sighs in exasperation, her naturally intimidating expression contorted into an even more sour visage "Cupid, you weren't Tock supposed to interlope Tick with them!" The bird coos in reply, nuzzling Vic's hand "I tick don't think he would find that to Tick be a compliment!"

Once she had managed to subdue her laughing, wiping a few tears from her eyes, Moira smiled at the girl who was quite clearly a new member of the Academy. "I'm guessing that's your bird, then?" She asked, standing up and leaning across the table towards Vic, reaching up to see if the bird would perch on her hand.

Bring the bird down towards the table he wanted to flick it off but hearing that it belonged to someone else he stopped himself. Pushing the bird away from him and towards Moria, Vic then turned around to see who Moira was talking to and it turned out to be a little bird. Any anger he felt flew away. There was no way he could possibly get mad at a little girl.
Vic sighed and motioned the girl to come closer and not to be afraid. Didn't help that to some people he looked a little 'intimating' due to the looks he gave.

Cupid puffs up his feathers, quickly hopping onto Moira's hand and scurrying up to her shoulder, hunkering down and cooing contently. Phyl awkwardly scratched at one of the cracks on her face, a piece falling off as causin her to bleed slightly. She winces, deciding that yes, old habits die hard. Hopefully that would grow back.
She takes a cautious step closer to them, her own gaze still as (seemingly) hostile as ever. She really wasn't mad; honest! She fidgets nervously, nodding at Moira's question "yeah... Sorry Tick if Tock he Tick disturbed Tock you Tick..." Her ticking was increasing in frequency mostl likely because she was nervous

The smile stayed on Moira's face as the bird cooed. Petting it with a finger gently, she looked at the girl, "He's rather cute, what's his name?" she asked softly as she looked back up to the girl, quite perplexed by her odd speech habit and the cracks on her skin.
Due to her item? Possibly..

Hearing how the girl talked almost made him chuckle, not from making fun of here but it was just adorable that it made him laugh. Vic actually had to turn away do as to not be rude. It didn't take long for him to get back to putting a straight face and as he looked back he saw how great his wife looked taking care of the bird. A happy daze fell on Vic's face as he just stared and started thinking about Moira would act with kids. A happy sigh came from him as his imagination got the best of him like it normally did. It was such a wonderful image.

Phyl pouts slightly "he's Tock not cute! His name is Tick Cupid and he's a Tick butthead." Cupid squawks in reply and Phyl huffs "it's true!" The two of them chirp and tick at each other for a few moments before realizing they were with company. Phyl turns a slight pink before grumbling "...he's Tick really Tock nice though. Cupid Tick is my best friend." He was also the last gift her dad gave her before her parents abandoned her a few months ago, but no point mentioning that.

"It's always nice to have a friend like that... even if they happen to be of a different species than you. But sometimes you need to make your own friends when you get stuck in a rut with no one lending a helping hand." Moira mused aloud, wondering how she would have ended up if she had gotten a pet from one of her parents. Knowing her luck it would've been something from her mother Alice - not that she particularly cared about any of the other kids except for her 'precious Lucian'.
Her face changed to this solemn look as she thought about her two siblings and her mothers she had left behind. Snapping herself out of it, she looked back towards Phyl with a gentle smile, "I'm Moira, what's your name?"

Vic of course snapped out of it as he heard the girl talking about it. God girls were just so cute. Some men were too but not as much as girls at least the ones he had met. Looking to the sit he looked at an empty chair then back to Phyl before connection the dots and passing the chair to the younger girl. He motioned her to sit as she chatted with his wife. Of course Vic knew he wouldn't be up to talking but it was nice to watch them. He began to think maybe he should have brought his guitar though then he would get shouted at by the grumpy librarian.

Phyl shakes her head at the seat, mumbling a quick thank you. She preferred to stand; it made it easier to book it if things got sour. She doubted they would, but none the less it made her nervous to talk to strangers. "...I'm Tock Phyllida Tick Birchwood. I'm Tick 7 years Tick old and I Tock don't need any more Tick friends." Cupid nuzzle Moira, cooing at Phyl. She frowns slightly, ticking even more nervously.
