Roll an Eleven: Canyon Field: The canyon walls towers high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces are very damp which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff and allow smaller, nimbler pokemon to grab and swing around. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Keeping up is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING and ROCK type attacks.

Stormcaller, slipped down the side of the canyon. He yelped and caught a branch in his teeth, stopping his descent on a weedy ledge. I looked around, wide eyed, H-How did he get here? This was a very strange area! It was like the ground had just opened up beneath him!

Storm jumped when he noticed the dark Pokemon float into the canyon and had to quickly pressed himself against the cliff face to keep his balance. "Hey, dishrag," he snarled, "Get me out of here and I won't bite you in the threads!"

Mephistopheles looked curiously at the poochyena. No trainer? Well, no matter. He bowed. "Greetings. My name is Mephistopheles, and I shall be your opponent. Good luck." He sent a burst of ice at the poochyena.

Storm yelped as he took the ice beam head on, unwilling to loose his purchase on the tiny ledge. He shook it off. That fancy talk rubbed him the wrong way! How to get at the floating pokemon, he brooded, and shot a very dark glare at Mep.

He took tha attack again, this time getting caked with pounds of ice. "Hah!" The young poochynea laughed with bravado, preening ineffectively, tying to shake ice from his fur. "Ice is nothing! You'll have to do better than that!" He tried to strut and almost fell, catching himself at the last minute as loose stones plopped into the water below. He recovered and stuck out his tongue as his opponent.

The attack went a little wide and covered the stone behind Storm slick and chill. He'd been surprised to see the shrouded bonehead knocked back before, so he tried it again with an unkind, toothy grin.

Stormcaller only had long enough to bark out a single self satisfied laugh before the other Pokemon's stray ice beam made the ledge too slippery to stand on. He leaped at another, flailing, but it crumbled. Three ledges later, panting, he sent another viscous, infused, glare at Mep, now dozens of feet above him.
