Iolani paced about in her small cave near the open fields, talons clicking on the floor with each irritated step, glaring at her nest as though it's mere existance offended her. She'd only been out for a few hours, gathering more materials for her nest, and when she'd come back she found... found this! Found that someone had the nerve to come into her home and steal the trinkets she'd worked so hard to collect! She huffed and climbed into her nest, settling down into it, but ever so often she shifted, uncomfortable, and no -- it just wasn't right without the other items she'd collected. She stood up again, rummaging through the feathers and leaves and other various items that made up her nest, hoping perhaps they were just misplaced and she'd forgotten -- but soon she realized that was not the case. There was a thief running about, and whoever it was had stolen her things.
And that just wouldn't do. Iolani ruffled her wings and set out to find her stolen things, frowning a little and wondering where to start. Perhaps the little thief hadn't gotten very far yet. She inspected the ground around her home, looking for prints of some sort, and -- ah ha! Yes, there were tiny little paw prints that led straight to her cave. They didn't look like they belonged to a wolf, so Iolani began to follow them toward the edge of the forest, her head lowered to the ground, not watching where she was going as she concentrated on not losing track. Which was foolish, she realized a moment later, when she smacked almost headfirst into another soquili when she whirled around to turn a corner. She quickly raised her head and stumbled back in surprise. "Oh! I'm sorry, mister, I wasn't paying attention!"

Rushil was in the forbidden forest that was known to have meat eating soquili residing. But he didn't care because he could fight if he had to for the sake of his family. He loved clovers simply because they were sweeter and more moist due to the dew in the air. He looked around the place, letting the fire in his moth like wings light up the area around him. He cautiously walked through the trees, scanning everything. He had a right to be nervous in this area but knew that he could defend himself if he had to.
But for some reason, something was telling him not to be afraid. Deep down, he knew something was up. He tossed his mane to get it out of his eyes, trying to get good look in the distance. That is when he was suddenly get bumped into by someone. For a moment, he thought it was one of the vicious kalonas that he had heard so much about .When he turned to look at her, her voice made his ears perk up. "Do not be sorry, miss.." He liked the soft tender voice that came out of her lips. "I thought I had myself on guard.. but apparently, I wasn't." He chuckled softly. "The name is Rushil." He offers a nod in forgiveness.

"Mine's Iolani!" the mare chirped in reply, relieved that she hadn't bumped into one of the more violent soquili she's known to lurk about from time to time. It was silly, really, that she hadn't even noticed him -- how does one not notice a fully grown fluttercorn? He wasn't even tiny, and on top of that, his wings were all but glowing! That realization gave her pause, and her eyes widened as she leaned in closer to get a better look at his wings, cocking her head to the side. "Wow, your wings are pretty, mister! I mean -- Rushil," she corrected herself, having momentarily forgotten why she'd come out this way in the first place. "I don't think I've ever met anyone with wings that can glow like that before. Or eyes, either! Wow, they're really blue! Did your parents have those things too? D'you have siblings with glowy wings?"

Rushil had been thankful that he was not one of the small flutters that was seen around in the land. He bows his head in a respectful way. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Iolani." He tilts his head towards his wings and smiled, flickering his tail gently. "My mother is known for her blueness around her eyes. My father is a fluttermoth like I am." He noticed that she was getting a bit hyper which was unlike for a hippogryph. He arched his brow at her. "I do have siblings that are similar to me." He then looked around the place, calming down a bit. "Is there a reason why you are out here alone, Ms. Iolani?" He knew that she could take care of herself but still was concerned for her.

"Oh, well, I live out here!" Iolani replied, figuring it couldn't hurt to tell a fluttermoth such a thing. It wasn't as though she drew him a map back to her cave, after all -- and the forest was home to all kinds of creatures. She remembered then what brought her out here, specifically, in the first place, and leaned her head in to whisper conspiratorially. "There's a thief somewhere in these woods. They stole my blanket and a bag of wool I was gonna use for my nest! I think it's a raccoon -- see, look!" she said, clawing at the ground where the small paw prints were. She decided not to mention she'd stolen the items from a two-legger village in the first place -- details, details. "I was following them when I bumped into you. I thought maybe they'd lead to his home and I could steal my stuff back! You wouldn't have happened to see a raccoon pass by here, did you?"

He moved a bit closer and looked around to see if there was some little critter that may have her items. He arched his brow towards her. "A thief? Surely something wouldn't steal something from a beautiful mare like you." He smiled while flickering his tail slightly. "I've got some blankets back at home that I can give you if we can't find the little thief." He burrs gently and licks her on the cheek, hoping to make her smile. He looked around the place to try to find the footprints that may be around til he saw her clawing at them. "Hey, now.. Don't do that.. We need those prints to try to find the little fella." He flattened his ears at her. "You wouldn't want to make me mad.. would you?"

Iolani chirped happily at the compliment and the affection, preening under the attention. She smiled brightly at the offer, and then immediately moved her claws away from the paw prints when Rushil reminded her they'd need those to track the little thief down. She began to nod in agreement, but froze when Rushil's words ended off in a threat. Wait -- what? She peered at the stallion uneasily, not sure if he was just teasing or if he was being serious. She'd only just met him, after all, she barely knew the fluttercorn -- maybe he had really bad mood swings or something. He'd been so nice just a second ago; surely it was a joke? "Ha, like I couldn't handle you if you did get mad! Claws, remember?" Iolani grinned, her tone light and teasing, but she flexed her claws to remind him they were there. Just in case. "Everyone knows not to mess with me! Well... unless you're tiny, I guess. Like a little thief raccoon."

Rushil smiled as she had moved the claws away from the pawprints. He moved down to look at the pawprints then looks towards her. "Thank you.. They shouldn't be THAT hard to find the little critter. You can't blame them for liking shiny things." He grins at her before arching his brow at her. "Oh, no no.. I am not saying that to hurt you or anything, miss Iolani." He sighed as he had thought he scared her or something. He then laughed at his words. "I may like that.." He winked, moving towards her. "Come.. Lets find the little raccoon, eh? If it is one that is." He sniffed the pawprints and began to follow it.

Iolani's ears flicked back, feeling embarrassed to have assumed the fluttercorn might be threatening her. But hey, how was she to know -- for all she knew he could've had kalona blood in him! She shuddered at the thought, but she was relaxing again as she grinned dreamily at Rushil. "I guess I can't blame them that much -- shiny things are really nice," she agreed, thinking of her own collection back at her makeshift next. Maybe she had more in common with the little thief than she thought. Still, she wanted her blanket and wool back -- it could get chilly at night! Iolani hummed as she followed the stallion, all but bouncing on her hooves and claws, all eager, curious energy, wanting to see where these footprints would lead them. "What if it's not a raccoon?" she asked in a conspiratorial whisper. "Maybe it's a bear. A baby one, and it took my stuff to it's parents, and when we get there they'll eat us up!"
