I'm gonna be writing a story soon. The idea came to me less than a week ago, so I've been brainstorming and coming up with characters and filling in gaps and all that.
I haven't actually started yet, but I'm hoping I will soon. But it's hard to motivate myself to write. :[
Do any of you dudes write as a hobby? If so, how do you motivate yourself to do so?

Join the NaNoWriMo or whatever it's called XD
I find it's easier if you program in a bit of time each day and then just go from there, some days I write more and some days I write less but I always try and at least write something.

I remember some famous author told himself, "If I don't finish this novel by the end of the month, I'm going to shoot myself in the face", and got the novel done with 2 days remaining.
While I don't remember doing something that... extreme, if you want to get it done on a time table, you have to have some pressure on you.
However, if it's just something you want to write because it's awesome, write as you're inspired. There's no use writing something when you don't have an idea, or else you'll probably just delete it.
I don't actually write as a hobby, because I have a bad habit of going on tangents and ultimately being incoherent.

I write, but most of it is lyrical and/or poetic in nature. Most of my story ideas die after I start writing them. I hit a bump and have no idea how to proceed. I should probably revisit some of my old ones and try to wrap them up.
To become just like the air...

I wish to write but there is little motivation.
I feel it's one of the downsides to not being a J.

Considering that NaNoWriMo is halfway over, it's probably a little too late to join, Perfy.
I haven't done any type of creative writing in a while, but I do remember trying to work on one story line that played through my head for a long while by RPing with the characters. It even snuck into the guild at one point, though I'll not say when.
