She was walking on the path. There was no one around and her phone was fine. Out of the corner of her eye Ami could spot her.
Solia Delacroix.
She was following her, about 30 feet back. She gave a wave and broke into a sprint. She was going to gain up to Ami.
Solia Delacroix.
Solia actually was rather hoping with things having settled from the whole event in the house she could introduce herself in a lower stress envionment. The death trainee got the feeling she had upset the life trainee and well. She wanted to make amends. Or friends.
Friends were always good.
"Hi! Hey! Amy!"

Ami saw her. Ami saw her when she was all the way back, 30 feet ago. She ignored the girl completely, in hopes that she might imitate a possum playing dead.
Then came the squeaky noise known as Solia's voice. Ami could play dumb. She could just ignore the girl completely, and be on her way. No, wait she couldn't, because Solia was closing the gap, and Ami didn't have enough room to escape. She could run, but then Solia would know that Ami had seen her, and it would make matters worse.
So she just turned and gave Solia the most deadpan, the most flat, the most acid-filled, "What?"

Alas for poor Ami, Solia was not one so easy to give on on her prey. No. She would follow like the hopeful puppy trying to worm her way into the ice heart.
Sadly, no one told Solia that Deus ex was perfectly fine with kicking dogs. Puppies too. "I saw you headed over to the labs and thought I would join you! I have some files I'm supposed to get and a few of the death guys asked for coffee." She let out a sigh. "So I was going to get one if them a cup from that runic machine. The one with the yellow tape on it."
The caution tape.
"Either way I wanted to catch up! We haven't talked since we got back from that mission and it was rather rude of me not to do so. Everything going good? Doing anything cool in the labs? Is it true that you guys experiment on us death hunters sometimes?"

Ami was a silent, seething rage. People were giving her looks now, most confused by the fact that someone was hovering around her and staying. It was odd to see Ami with company like this. Her anger could have fried an egg on top of her head.
They entered a hallway that no one occupied for a short stretch, and Ami immediately lunged on the opportunity to give her grief. Her fingers balled into fists in front of her and she hissed, "Shut up! SHUT. UP." Ami couldn't stand the yip yip yip.

The thing about some puppies? You could yell at them all you wanted but nothing would change. Solia's mind was one such thing. Hate did not exist for her, nor did the idea that she needed to be silent for some people. As Ami gave her a look of pure anger, fist balled up, yelling at her to shut up, the death trainee stood.
Quiet.
For all of 30 seconds.
"One second." Fishing in her pockets she proceeded to hold out a small chocolate bar left over from Halloween. A very small bonus for being 'extra' adorable. Or maybe having helped spike someone's coffee with hot sauce. "I was saving it, but um." She offered it up to Ami. "Sorry."

Ami stared at the candy bar like it was a dead mouse dragged onto her doorstep by a dog covered in mud. It was a somewhat kind gesture though. Ami said, "Keep it," rather gruffly. It was less that she didn't want it and more that she really wanted Solia to keep it to herself, but, like all things, it would come off sounding rude and annoyed.
A thought occurred to her. Solia was making an effort to be friends, wasn't she. Had she just ... "turtled" like Lex said? Oh no. Oh no no no. Worse than a lack of friends, she didn't want that a*****e to be right.
"Look," Ami said with a sigh, "That coffee machine? Don't use it. It's rigged." Solia could take it or leave it.

Solia was the rain soaked, muddy dog that would wait for praise and when it never came would still curl up at someone's feet, gift rejected or not.
At least Solia didn't smell.
Candy turned down, she nodded and put it back inherpocket. Saving it for a rainy day, or a grumpy hunter. Some people didn't like candy. Solia just had to figure out what Ami did like was all. Which... If she pulled up the right files, wouldn't be hard right? Could she even get to those files? Solia made a mental note to try. "'S okay. But um." She sighed.
"Rigged how? Cuz... Yeah I might not... Mind. Experimental coffee. For one if the drinks." She looked around the hall. "I just really hate doing coffee runs all the time. I much rather be filing mission reports. At least I get to read when I'm doing that."

"No. Solia,," Ami refuted. Clearly this dense puppy wasn't understanding the (not-so) friendly warning Ami was attempting to dispense. She looked at the girl and wondered if she had rocks for brains. "This is a life rigged coffee machines. Some of the higher ups think its hilarious to send the newbies to it."
Ami sighed as though she was reliving her own experience with the machine. It was pretty obvious after the first time that the machine wasn't right. It was covered in worn tape, and then blocked off by caution tape. Yet people kept going.
She took a sip of the tea she'd brought in a tiny mug and said, "You'll end up knocked out with your face drawn on." Just to make sure she understood, Ami added an ominous, "Or worse."

Hands went to Solia's hips. "So will it give me- oh" Hands fell back to her side. "Dang." She looked slightly disappointed in the sudden revelation of how it would knock her out and not make terrible tasting coffee. She would just have to use hot sauce again. Russian Roulette, coffee style for death. "I just want to prank the guys who keep demanding coffee. Hoping they will stop asking but no- 'Send the frenchie'. Half concerned they'll start with french maid jokes." She pouted, still happy to follow Ami around.
"But, you better now that we're all back from the mission? It was really stressful and I worried that I upset you more than I should have." Bless her little hopeful heart, Solia was smiling even.
The puppy was still nipping at Ami's heels trying to play and make friends.

She shot a look at Solia. "You couldn't prank your superiors if you tried. Sophia, their entire life is dedicated to detecting traps." Had she fumbled that name? Ami didn't care. She was too busy thinking what a dumbass the spritely girl. "Besides, getting coffee? That's a blessing Solia. You're lucky they're not having you "test" the minesweeper grounds. Don't act so ******** entitled." Entitlement was Ami's biggest pet peeve, but Solia seemed to be hitting on ALL her pet peeves today. Go figure.
For a moment Ami thought about refuting her being "better." She was most certainly not better. She was the same as always, which was not "better."
Then she realized that would open a whole myriad of "are you okay?" and "what's wrong?" questions. No way. She did NOT want that from Solia. No thank you. The dog could stay caged.
So she simply said, "You didn't upset me." At least that much was true? Ami thought her annoying, but she thought everyone annoying. To Ami she was just another trainee there to get in her way. "And I'm fine, thank you." She only hoped Solia wouldn't see it as a sign of friendliness to say as much.
Solia probably would.

She snorted. Solia had gotten them once. “Already done. That’s the blessing of being me see? They think just because I’m tiny and they can boss me around and normally I don’t.. prank… but.. I do! Sometimes. They never see me coming okay. I’m stealthy like that.” About as stealthy as a brick through a glass house. The death trainee also smiled as she pointed out the simple mistake. “And it’s Solia. I think Sophia is a sun hunter? I dunno. I’m bad with names. You got my name right the second time though!” A bucket of sunshine, Ami could do no wrong, not to Solia’s eyes, not yet.
“Oh um… I think I… actually have that. Sometime. Later.” She smiled but the slight shuffling hinted to the fact she might have been dreading it. “I just want to file the paper work and read all the things. But um.” Too bad for Ami, the puppy did not leave so easily. “You sure? I can help you if you want. You’re much nicer than the others up in the offices!”

Ami rolled her eyes. Stupid, stupid girl. Doing everybody's chores and thinking her little pranks were good enough payback. It was childish, really.
"You aren't stealthy at all. I saw you coming from a mile away," Ami scolded. "Listen do me a favor? Go file your paperwork or whatever. I don't have time to babysit."
The last thing Ami wanted was Solia helping her. Or calling her nice again.

Obviously she would need to work on that then. It was no good if she for caught doing things after all. But at the babysit comment Solia pouted. "I'm not a child thank you. But if me doing my work will help you?"
She winked. "Consider it done. It was nice to talk to again Ami. Take care okay?" Solia turned to more or less bounce away as she walked. It was anyone's guess.
