What do you mean, you do not sell to reapers!?”

The demoness clerk behind the counter looked less than impressed with the short and foul tempered valkyrie, regarding her as one might regard a pest. Something about ‘her kind’ or ‘not of the proper caliber’ and Hel was kindly escorted out of the shop because she would not calmly leave. Thrown out onto the side walk.

On her a**.

The ghoul scowled loudly, throwing a venomous glare over her shoulder at the fabric shop door was it slammed shut, and she cursed it in her moon language.

Of all the things Titus expected to see on his trip around town, a busty midget being thrown on her a** on the street was not one of them. Though he had to admit it was a bonus for coming out of his room. Even more so when he realized that busty midget was familiar.

Hel would have heard a light chortle as the demon approached, his tall figure looming over her as she glowered and spouted off at the shop in whatever language that happened to be.

"Ya keep spoutin' off like that Kidget and they'll call the men in white coats to come take you away." She was so feisty for someone so short.

Hel whipped her head around, looking ready to pop a cap in the a** of whoever was laughing at her. Her scowl lessened a bit as it happened to be someone she recognized though, looking over her. “Oh, ha ha, Snaggletooth.” The ghoul replied, glowering. “The only beings in coats that need to be called out here are BOOGEYS because there is INJUSTICE AND DISHONOR AT THIS SHOP!” She was back to staring at the door, scowling once more, before she rolled onto her back and then leapt in a small arch to put herself back on her feet.

We do not sell to reapers~” The ghoul mimicked in an extremely high pitched and sassy tone, sashaying her hips a bit as she flipped one hand as well and nearly rolled her eyes into the back of her head. “Ahhhh….” Hel huffed, and stared at the door for a while longer before her eyes went wide and she stifferend. The ghoul stood like that for a long while before her head swiveled up to stare at Titus, and immediately her scowl turned into the utmost genuinely delighted look.

But you are not a reaper!” She cried gleefully, getting excited.

"Psssh, seems like they have the right idea," Titus grinned. "Who would want to serve the lot of you anyway?" He watched Hel saunter around mimicking the clerk inside, his eyes going wide when she suddenly turned to look at him with...delight?

"Yeah...thank Jack for that why the hell would I want to be a reaper?" Just to be safe he took a step back.

Titus took a step back, and Hel took a step closer, grinning up at him now eagerly.

Hel saw opportunity in the appearance of Titus, and she was about to try and take advantage. “Your kind would not know how honorable and blessed it is to be a reaper, as your heads are too far up your asses and usually stuck there due to your horns.” Hel was still grinning, and leaned even more towards the demon. “I need you to do something for me! I need you to go into that shop and buy some sailcloth for me! I have the seeds right here—“ She produced a pouch from her apron and held it out to him.

So that will not be a problem, ya?”

Asking for a favor after insulting his kind, and she didn’t say please? Oh so Hel.

While Titus didn't take another step back he did lean away slightly while still trying to hold his ground as Hel approached. He peered down at her through narrowed eyes at the insult but her follow up request was what caught him off guard. Black and white eyes growing a little wider Titus held up his hands in a gesture to hold everything.

"Wait, wait, wait..." When Titus was satisfied he had a moment to collect his thoughts he continued. "First of all, no to the reaper thing. I think I would feel more honored as a dung beetle before I felt honored and blessed to be a reaper." He tried to mimic her voice but he ended up spouting off something that sounded overly girly and nothing like Hel at all. "Second of all and this is really the more important issue." He actually dared to lean toward her, the corners of his lips tugging up in a smile that exposed his mouth full of jagged teeth. "Are you asking for a favor?"

This was territory his kind was generally at home with. Favors and deals, contracts and the like. Business as it was. "And what would I get out of this deal, oh short and foul tempered one? Keep in mind I have no interest in money."

Hel raised a brow, tapping her foot impatiently as Titus gave her the ‘hold up’ gesture, and then spoke. “Bah! I do not sound like that at all!” Hel cried, reaching forward to jab a finger into the demon’s chest. “Also, do not compare reapers to dung beetles! We are far more grand than that!” Admittedly, Hel was a tad wary as Titus was now leaning towards her, and smiling. That should have spelt trouble right there. Hel had let it slip though to not say those kinds of words to a demon…she had a one track mind. All she thought about was a quick path from point A to point B, and Titus was a means of easily getting to point B.

As he questioned her, Hel tilted her head, humming a bit before she asked. “What do you want? Keep in mind it is just a simple retrieval.”

"Oh? Simple you say?" Titus' smile grew a little bolder and he barely faltered as she prodded him in the chest. It seemed she had managed to trigger a part of his brain that blocked out his ability to feel uncomfortable around her. "Well if its so simple why not march yourself in there and buy it yourself. Oh wait..." He played off like he was suddenly remembering something important. "Because when I showed up you were on your a** out here on the street cursing in that chicken squabble you call a language."

He tsked then, looking perplexed, "It's a tough call. I mean it seems like more trouble than its worth but I suppose an....arrangement could be made." If his horns could have reflected his inward notions they probably would have been twisting in a cruel fashion. Instead all Hel was given was the rare calm and collected expression as Titus regarded her without feeding her an answer. It seemed he was waiting for her to begin negotiations. Where would she make a mark in the sand and how hard would it take for Titus to push it further and further back?

If Hel was smart, she would have realized she was in dangerous territory. But…Hel was not smart, and she certainly wouldn’t back down from Titus now, because that would be cowardly. Plus…Hel always did like danger, sadly. If she was smart, she would have turned around and gone to ask Riyo to buy her the damn fabric…but alas…Hel was not smart.

The ghoul scowled once more as Titus mocked her, crossing her arms and tapping her foot impatiently as she stared up at him, narrowing her eyes. “It is not my fault your kind are arrogant and pompous asses.” She sneered, and then cocked her head. “More trouble than it is worth? Are you kidding me!?” She cried, now throwing her hands up in the air in exasperation. “Dealing with you is more trouble than it is worth!” But oddly, Hel was not walking away, and she recognized that the ball was in her court once more. The problem was…she had no idea what someone like Titus would want, and thus, she was coming up empty with an offer. What to trade someone who would buy something for her…

How about…” She started after a moment. “If there is ever something that I can do, that you can not, than I shall?”

"We only appear that way since we obviously stand above the rest when it comes to class," Titus said simply. He only grinned when Hel made a fuss but still stood her ground. It only meant that she wanted this cloth and was too stubborn to back away and think of another way to get it. Or foolish. Probably a little from column A and column B.

At her offer Titus seemed to ponder, leaning back and looking thoughtful. It seemed like a fair trade, an equal service for the one he was giving. But Titus wasn't in the mind for fair and square and instead looked at Hel like he was sizing her up. After a moment of assessing he gave a counter offer. "I'll keep that on the table plus one other thing. You help me get passed this...issue I have with your kind." And by 'kind' Titus didn't mean reapers. He was still struggling with this whole woman issue on his own and while he had made some progress it had been slight. So what was he asking from Hel? It was hard to say. Maybe he just wanted a wingman.

Above the rest when it comes to being an a**?” Hel mocked. “Ya, you got that right.” She now placed her hands on her hips and huffed impatiently and glowered as Titus seemed to be sizing her up. She didn’t appreciate it at all, and in all honesty she was getting fed up with this mini-tennis match they seemed to have gotten into. She wanted her fabric! Why did stupid Titus have to make it complicated?

As the demon tossed back a counter offer though, Hel was torn between being amused at what he was asking…and being annoyed. She raised a finger. “Oi!” She cried. “It should be an equal trade! If you are going to add on another condition to your offer, than I am as well! I will offer to do something, and help you with your problem—“ She grinned widely then, clearly very amused that Titus wanted help with ghouls – “If you go in there and buy my fabric, and pay for it yourself! I am not budging either, Snaggletooth!” She announced haughtily. “Take this or leave it.”

Because she could walk away from this…or so she liked to think.

"What are you my ghoulfriend? I'm not paying for your stupid fabric." Titus huffed and crossed his arms, glaring down at the wingless Valkyrie.

"Here I give you a simple solution and you want me to pay you like its an actual service." It was an actual service but Titus didn't see it that way. Or at least refused to. "If you want me to buy your fabric for you with my own seeds I think we need to up the stakes."

Running his fingers over the short hairs of his goatee Titus gave more thought to what he might want. Honestly...he wasn't a very needy person. Lazy mostly with no real aspirations. It wasn't like he was poor either, so there was nothing that he wanted that he couldn't buy.....expect for the one thing his parents kept pestering him about. They wanted him to settle down and meet a ghoul. Maybe just to prove that he wasn't the worthless bump on a log that they viewed him as. Even his Uncle had been on his case lately wonder if he had met any ghouls at school. It was hard to explain that ghouls gave him the heebie jeebies.

Finally after a moment of silence Titus held up 3 fingers. "Three weeks you pretend to be my ghoulfriend. No flowers or chocolates, nothing fancy but I want my family off my case. I'll buy your fabric for you and whatever else you need in the store on the condition that you play the role and play it well."

Hel snorted on amusement, clearly amused at how much this rubbed Titus the wrong way. He was nuts. “Bah! You utter such bullshit!” Hel exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. “You did not offer me a simple solution! You made it all complicated and con…con…convalu…MUDDY!” The ghoul stomped her foot then, and waited to hear Titus’ next brilliant play.

Oh.

It was brilliant alright.

Hel’s hands fell limp to her sides, and her expression went from amused to plain blank. In a truly graceful fashion, her mouth even hung open as she stared at Titus wide eyed. Pretend to be Titus’ ghoulfriend. For three weeks. For a roll of fabric. Titus. Asked her to pretend to be his ghoulfriend. Titus. Asked. Her.

Hel was broken. Her mind could not compute right now. She didn’t even process yet what this could mean for her ah…other relationship.

His offer seemed to have silenced her and Titus quirked a brow at her reaction. "I know its a generous offer to pretend to be my ghoulfriend but there is no need to stand there with your mouth agape." He brought his hand down to lightly bap the bottom of her chin to put her jaw back in it's proper place.

"Honestly with your reaction you would think it was something hard. Unless.....you think you can't manage." Titus managed a smirk then enjoying having the upper hand for once. "I mean you are a simple creature by nature, I don't expect much."

Titus knew how to get Hel’s goat well. Insinuate that she was a coward. It worked like a charm.

Hel snapped out of the stupor she was put in, smacking Titus’ hand away from her chin and scowled. “I could easily handle pretending to be your ghoulfriend!” She cried, indignant. “I would be the best pretend ghoulfriend ever! You would be begging me to be your real one by the end of it!” She yelled, swiping her hands through the air. Clearly this also happened to be a touchy nerve with the ghoul for some reason. Some reason…

Worth issues, anyone?

The ghoul wasn’t entirely easy with this whole thing though. She couldn’t help but keep going back to the fact that she was kind of…kind of…oh…occupied with someone else…but they were just friends. Friends with benefits…benefits she would not be giving up. That was where she drew the line.

If Hel was rational, she couldn’t even be giving this offer a second thought. Nope. Not at all. Stupid pride. This had the potential to easily get her into a world of trouble. All for what? A roll of fabric and her pride? Her pride would be the end of her one day.

The wingless valkyrie looked heavily conflicted as she now seemed to be having a tennis match with herself, and her brows were furrowed deeply. This was all horrible timing, and Hel felt like a melting pot of way too many strong emotions, but when it boiled down to her…she wouldn’t compromise her pride.

First. I will not sleep with you. Second…I will not ah…stop…ah…visiting“ She heavily stressed the word. “A friend of mine while pretending with you…but you do not have to worry about that conflicting with anything.” She hoped. Jack. Hel huffed, and then held up two fingers. “Third. Only two weeks.”
