Hiana lazed on a rock, the half eaten antelope attracting birds nearby, but she couldn't find it in herself to get up and chase them off. They weren't really hurting anyone, as she couldn't fit another bite into her stomach so it would only go to waste. She couldn't help but think of the scolding her mother would have given her if she saw her 'wasting' food.
She shook her head, letting out a huff of air with a roll of her eyes. Her mother was a character, and that was exactly why Hiana had run, and run far away from her as soon as she could. She didn't hate the female, but very few of Lari's children could really speak highly of her mothering style.
The lioness stretched leisurely, and rose to her paws, startling the nearby birds into a flurry of activity, thinking her about to pounce when all she did was step down from her rock, and continue to stretch.
Birds were terrible food anyway. Too many feathers that got stuck in her teeth. Antelope were better, and far easier to skin if she needed a pelt for anything.

It would not be wasted, that corpse of hers lying in the dirt. Forget the fact that Meshindi and himself had already eaten. Forget the fact that Gepeto chose not to tell his companion where he was headed or what he had picked up on. Forget all about that. He had arrived, stomach gurgling, and was waiting a short distance away from the lioness. He pined for the warmth of blood to slide down his throat once again. Sharing a meal was never quite satisfying enough...he needed more. Growing boys needed more. He kept down wind of both the carcass and its protector, watching for a short while as she ate and then found rest on a rock. Ravens, or whatever birds they were had already begun to infiltrate his next meal. She seemed content watching them do so... Gepeto was never one to be willingly patient. Hunts were different altogether, and some instances where diligence was a necessity he would allow for his mind to calm. For is body to move methodically along until he got what it was he wanted...but it would come down to choosing between two evils in this instance. Either he would force an interaction between other lion and himself, chasing her off or he would continue to sit things out. Wait for the coast to be clear. In the dark from his short distance away a low, frustrated growl did rumble. He was still hungry, and that lioness did not look as if she planned to be leaving any time soon. He needed to act now, particularly because he didn't like being too far from Meshindi for too long. Not that he would admit to that openly. In a flurry of earth toned fur and quickly pounding paws, Gepeto charged the female and her catch. Sliding to face her, he tucked his neck into his shoulders and let out a roar. He hoped to scare her off indefinitely. "Leave, NOW." Velveteen Angel Sorry for late post! heart DON'T BE SCARED, GEPETO IS SQUISHY. Inside. Deeeeeep inside. Like all the way down in there.

Hiana had not been expecting to meet anyone that day, let alone in such an aggressive manner. She startled, stumbling back one or two steps in pure shock before she fully registered what was going on. A male, a large male, was roaring at her. Her breath caught in her throat and her muscles automatically tensed.
Hiana was not a large lioness, her mother was quite petite and while she had taken on some of her father's bulk, she was still a little bit smaller than average. That made the sudden approach of the male that bit more frightening.
But Hiana was anything but not-stubborn.
She tensed her muscles and dug her claws into the ground beneath her. Instead of lowering her head, she raised it, trying to add some height to her form.
"Who made you king of the savannah!" she snarled back, her voice hardly 'scary' as it wasn't deep nor a roar like his. "If you think for one second you can boss me around like you are the Gypsy King himself, you have another thing coming!"
It was only after she said it that she realised that...she may die. She'd never have been brave enough if he had been blue - but his brown pelt let her get away with her bravery. The ocean still haunted her, but this male was nothing like the ocean. He was loud, brash and a jerk, she decided, glaring at him determinedly.
Shia bean |D Hiana believes you. Maybe yelling at him will make show his squishy side........maybe....

The lioness faltered. She was a strange face separating him from his next meal; nothing more than a threat in the wild. And while he watched her suffer for those few moments, gripping at the soil beneath his feet with talons sharp and at the ready; he could not help but seethe with pride.
He was certain of a victory.
But, without warning, the tides began to turn. That tiny female before him had found courage in a moment that he had sworn was his own. She spoke with a strength that seemed oddly familiar; distantly, perhaps. As if he had used those same words before...she was not intimidating, but meant to be and it was hard to watch without fumbling from laughter.
She was so young, he concluded. So very naive. To be on her own, so brightly colored and so stubbornly set; it surprised him. She surprised him. Gepeto absorbed her growing frame with unwavering eyes, shoulders rising and falling as one step after another brought him closer to her. Did she think she stood a chance against him? "You better hope your feet move faster than your mouth, lioness." He spat back, although with the firmness that had been there before lacking. Now, so it seemed, the lion was humoring her.
Whatever Gypsy business she spoke of went above his head, for now. All he had heard was King. And he wasn't at all interested in that title. "I'll give you a head start."

Hiana was determined to hold her ground, even as he strode closer to her. Damn he was muscley, she thought, fear swelling in her chest that was only usually there when she was approaching the ocean. Suddenly, those eyes that glared at her reminded her so much of the waves that taunted her, and her breath came out in shorter pants, though she kept them sharp and quick, trying to hide her anxiety from him.
Her claws dug into the dirt beneath her as he spoke, his threat seemed more intense than even his earlier roar. Perhaps it was only her own mind that made him suddenly terrifying.
'His eyes are gold,' she firmly reminded herself, barely hearing his second remark. 'His coat is brown.' She breathed in sharply, but did not fall back a single step, frozen in her mind even as she stared at the threatening male before her.
'He is not the ocean!' She could die at his paws, and that should have terrified her, but the only way she feared death was at the hands of the waters that taunted her. If she died, she died - as long as she was not near the ocean, she would accept her fate.

When nearly upon her, Gepeto expelled a heavy snort that would have blown her finer hairs to the side. There was a ferocity in his gaze, a honest to goodness threat to her livelihood that nearly convinced him to lash out just as he had said... But it seemed to do nothing to the lioness except more firmly plant her paws onto the ground. What was she waiting for? " GO." He dared to inch closer, towering over her bright frame before slinking to her side and stepping around her. " Or were you looking to die today?" He couldn't stop the stumbling that followed, his attempts to be a blood lusting lion squashed by his confusion. Fortunately by the time he came to face her again, his features had re-hardened; a look of expectation wrinkling his maw.

She stumbled back at his words, unable to breathe for a second, her eyes wide and terrified. She continued to stumble back, her paws unstuck from the ground but weak with terror. The roaring in her ears was like the ocean, and that made her breathe come out quicker, harsher, as panic set in.
No. No. No. No! she shrieked inwardly, squeezing her eyes shut, as she step backwards. Her paw clipped a rock, and her leg gave way under her, sending her crumbling to the ground.
She continued to squeeze her eyes shut, knowing she was doomed now. He had his size, fighting skills and now he was standing while she was left open on the ground.
She was going to die, and all she could hear was the ocean roaring in her ears.
Shia bean So sorry for the delay! I thought I had tagged this RP! :C
