The assignment had been simple enough, take photographs of one's life without being too literal. In theory, sure but the mind of one Roxanne Selte didn't always operate in that way; she liked looking at the pieces well enough but it didn't mean she always understood them and that she herself were capable to create them. It was a reason she had never really taken an art class and she had figured taking a photography class would really just teach her how to use a really nice looking camera.

Well, it was at least. Roxy worked her way through the menu, adjusting a few of the settings to accommodate her surroundings. The blonde had the idea of going to one of the more populated locals of Destiny City to take pictures of people and the groups she could find; something to portray her enjoyment of people and watching them (and judging them).

There was a wide assortment; people strolling by, window shopping, joggers, children enjoying one of the many parks, parents enjoying the cooler weather (as she was, bundled up on a cute little black peacoat, eyelet skirt and boots). There were the occasional person asking for handouts, a few people trying to be artsy with their sketchbooks out doing something similar to what she herself was doing. A painter - wait.

Roxy tilted her head to the side a little as she squinted her yellow eyes, not considering using the camera to zoom in on his features. He looked so familiar, why did he look so familiar? This was going to so bug her! Pressing her lips together, the blonde began to make her way over to the painter to figure it all out (and attempt to be discrete about it, yes, she had a camera... she was totally taking pictures of things over there).

The day was a pleasantly cool one. Not cold enough for snow or chattering teeth, yet not warm enough to not require a jacket of some sort, and Fritz was taking full advantage of the nice weather for a last painting session.

It had been a while since he had done this, he thought, as he sat at the edge of a crowded street, easel set comfortably up at the junction between two roads where it was slightly crowded, but not overly so. A box of paints lay next to his feet, and a paintbrush was behind an ear, a second one in his hand. A few spots of color were already dobbed on his shirt and pants, though it was clearly Fritz did not particularly care about this. He was quite a bit too busy involved in his painting, and now he leaned back, surveying his work from over the square glasses perched on the edge of his nose.

He rather liked it, he decided, and smiled to himself.

The painting depicted one of the patrons at the cafe across the street; an old woman with gnarled hands and a wrinkled face, curly white hair cut short on her head. She was nursing a cup of what looked to be some sort of tea, and there was the softest, sad smile on her aged face.

More green, Fritz thought to himself, and reached for the tubes of paint - which was possibly not the greatest idea, as he knocked half of them over, brightly colored tubes rolling over the sidewalk.

"Erm. Oops."

Roxy jumped back in surprise when an array of tubes went scattering across the ground. It wasn't all terribly dramatic - not like any of them were on a collision course with her face or the terribly cliche thing that happened with marbles - but it was still a shock when she finally got herself close enough to the boy with glasses.

It had at least entertained a small child, who clapped and giggled at the paints that wanted to run away. And honestly, the blonde herself couldn't help but smile as she took a few simple snapshots of the scene, it had interesting framing with the trees, her target and the easel - and even a tiny glimpse of his subject though blurry and tiny - and the scattered paints.

"I don't believe you're going to get that much done with them rolling away," she grinned at him, still desperately trying to place his face. School, either of them? One of her weekend classes? Summer? Obviously it wasn't a failed date, or even one she had tried to get to work. Space, even though that was like a year ago? Hm. She was usually so good at this.

Scrambling to pick up the paints, Fritz gave a smile to the little girl giggling at him.

"Shows what I get for making a mess, hmm?" he said with a wink, and then laughed as she smile cheekily, running off to her mom. He continued picking up the spilled paints until he heard a voice beside him. Glancing up, he had an amused response ready, but when he saw who it was, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Roxy?" he said, astonished enough that he spilled the paints all over the ground again.

So, it was obvious he knew her which meant in ways she had to know, at least, of him. It caught Roxy off guard for a brief moment when he said her name out loud; his voice.. that face... the wheels were beginning to turn. She blinked for a few moments, her fingers drumming lightly on the edges of her camera and she searched for a name that had to be there.

Oh wait, "Fritz." She stated perhaps a little too loudly. The boy with a fancy sounding name, and the blonde couldn't help but smile brightly when she remembered it - and in a way, him. Alive and well.

"You don't seem to be doing too well with those," she giggled.

She remembered him, which made a wide smile break out across his face, Fritz leaning forward and wrapping his arms around Roxy, in spite of the fact that they were in the middle of a crowded street.

"Ah, it's so good to see you!" he said happily, as one of his paints rolled away, to be squashed underfoot by a passerby. "I was so worried about..."

He trailed off, not wanting to say anything more with civilians around. But Roxy would hopefully understand what it was that he was saying anyway, Fritz giving a little tilt to his head, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

"Well, anyway," he said, and stood up, setting down the retrieved paints on his chair and wiping his hands on an already paint-stained cloth. "I'm glad to see you're doing well. How have you been, darling?"

Roxy hadn't realized their brief encounter in space would warrent such a gesture. Not that she minded at all, the blonde loved hugs and it was nice to be on the receiving end; and Fritz was a handsome and pleasant boy, so it was totally a bonus. She returned the hug with one arm (holding her camera in the other) in earnest and a small squeeze of his shoulder.

"It's so good to see you as well," she replied with a wide smile. The trailing didn't go unnoticed, taking it how he dealt with what had happened. Others perhaps didn't want to mention such details in the open; Roxy wasn't one of them however. But Fritz had helped her during the ordeal, and she owed him that much.

"Oh, getting back to the same old, same old," she told him. Her yellow eyes took notice of the few tubes of paint still littered on the ground, some now lost causes. "School and the like, and that whole college application business," dreadfully mundane and boring, but it was what some of them could do. "And taking photography courses to spice things up." There was at least that.

"How have you been, Fritz?" Roxy asked as she held up her camera to eye level, to snap a picture of the boy in front of her.

Fritz was, in all senses of the word, a generally huggy person, which meant that even the briefest encounters warranted a greeting such as the one Roxy received. He rocked back on his heels and then glanced around briefly before gathering up the last of his things (while inwardly lamenting the loss of several tubes of paint, though they did make rather spectacular streaks of color on the otherwise plain sidewalk), carefully slipping his brushes back into the little fabric carrier.

"Photography is a wonderful subject," he said with a smile, tapping a thin paintbrush against his cheek. "I was never particularly good at it myself, but I did have a great deal of fun pretending as though I knew what I was doing."

He winked at her conspiratorially and continued. "But I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. Back to the same grindstone, I suppose, though I'm halfway through my sophomore year at Uni. Which, as it stands, has also been dreadfully mundane and boring, as you said."

Fritz slung his bag over his shoulder. "Can I treat you to a cup of coffee or tea, perhaps? My treat."

The blonde spared a glance at the digital screen to survey the picture of her present company, definitely a keeper and not to be shared with anyone. That probably qualified as a creeper kind of thought, but it wasn't like she cared at the moment. Roxy still, none the less, smiled as her finger tapped at a few of the settings.

"This is at least one of the few art forms you can get away with pretending you know what you're doing," she mused since she thought she was doing a good job (the only thing she could do was really sew), "just look at Instagram." Not like she did. "It's not like painting." Was she throwing it out there because of Fritz? Why yes, she was. True, she hadn't seen his work and she rather wanted to but knowing him, she could hope he had talent. The blonde threw him a coy little smile along with it, only to be heightened with the little wink her bestowed upon her.

Only for it to be dashed with a scoff, "at least you're in college. Far more interesting than the drawl of highschool." Freedom was so close, yet so far. The tapping sound from her camera seemed to increase from her irritation. "And since you are just a poor little college student, how about I buy you a drink?" She suggested with a returned sense of cheer.

"It's the least I could do, as a thanks for cheering me up back then."

Hm. Second time too in such a short time frame. Well, if he accepted her offer.

Fritz grinned. "I'd love to see some of your other photography work at some point, if you'd let me," he said, and then gave a little cough, his cheeks pinking slightly as he added, "I'm sure my painting is quite amateur compared to many things - and I'm equally sure your photography is lovely, as you are a lovely person."

This last sentence was said with a cheeky sort of smile that bordered on a smirk, Fritz's eyes twinkling with mischief. It softened a little at Roxy's next words, however, and he said gently, "Well, either way, I would be delighted to spend time with you again."

He offered her his arm.

"Shall we?"

She was so about to say it, so very close but Roxy managed to stop herself before she could say one of the more cliche phrases; 'I bet you say that to all the girls.' That would have been so drawl, the blonde would have wanted to kick herself. Instead, "as long as you show me a few of your paintings," she smiled to him with a finger tapping against her chin, "we could have a little art show showing off our talents." Or course the little compliment didn't go unnoticed, earning Fritz a little bit of a blush.

The boy had always been a charmer as far as she was concerned, even with the short time she'd known him. Obviously not an act of displacement among the stars. "Pleasure would be all mine." Roxy gave him another smile as she switched her hold of her camera, looping her now free arm around his. "Ready when you are."
