Out of all the places to be, the Razor club on the corner of 35th and Waterman was not exactly where Magiore Carpenter had expected himself. Though, he grudgingly admitted, as he lifted a beer to his lips (the bartender hadn't even bothered to I.D. him, which was fortunate, considering he still had a year left under 21), there was a certain nuance to the place that was actually somewhat stimulating. The music was loud and pounding in his ears, reverberating throughout the floor and walls of the building, which had once been an old warehouse. Drafty and enormous, it was currently packed full of dancing, laughing, and gyrating people, with the occasional staggering drunk meandering along every so often.

It was far out of Magiore's comfort zone, to be honest; and reminiscent of the assignment back some months ago when they had come as Lieutenants to collect energy from humans. That had certainly been an interesting experience, and he had done surprisingly well - but there was no assignment this time. He had thought he would spend the evening doing something other than reading his books for the twentieth time and actually get out of the apartment and do things. He had no idea where his roommate was, but Zia had her own life and considering he hardly ever saw her, Magiore had come to the conclusion that it was more him that had no social life.

And so he was taking a chance. Perhaps a fruitless chance, but a chance nonetheless. Maybe he would manage to find someone to dance with, and he turned around on his barstool, one leg absently thrown over the other, leaning back with his bottle of beer dangling idly from his fingertips.

Time to see where the night brought him, he supposed.

The music was pulsing, vibrating through her blood and bones. And for Arilee, there was no better feeling (unless it was catching an amazing wave) than letting the music sweep you up as you lost yourself dancing. And it had been ages since she'd been out like this. Certainly this was the first time since her awakening that she'd been out to a club.

And it felt glorious! Eyes closed, she let the music and crowd move her, only coming out of her trance to glare warningly when someone jostled her a little too roughly, or thought they could take liberties with her person. Some people she marked in her mind for later playtime. After all, once she was done dancing, there was no reason why she couldn't follow a few of these people home and take their energy. She always did work better after a little play, after all.

He wasn't drunk - thank goodness - but he was pleasantly buzzed, a feeling of lightness spreading out through his body. Magiore was fortunately no lightweight, and could hold his own when it came to alcohol - which was probably a good thing, since he intended to have at least a few more beers. Wasn't that the point of getting out and having a night off? Letting yourself relax and let go?

He wasn't sure, but it couldn't hurt to try.

As his blue eyes idly raked the dance floor for something more interesting than a bottle of Sam Adams to take his attention, he saw her, a few yards away, surrounded by other dances, eyes closed to the music. Narrowing his eyes a little, Magiore frowned slightly; she looked awfully familiar, especially that hair. He tried to recall where he'd seen her before, and after a few moments he realized it - that same assignment he'd thought of earlier. This was one of the girls he had managed to successfully siphon energy from.

She would hardly recognize him; he was out of uniform, as Magiore, not Aurostibite, but it was at least something to go on. Leaving his half empty bottle on the bar and giving the bartender a nod, Magiore slipped from his seat and wound his way through the throngs of people milling about on the dance floor to tap her on the shoulder.

"Care to dance?"

Feeling the tap on her shoulder, followed by the polite request, Arilee turned and grinned. With narrowed eyes she quickly sized up the tall young man before nodding.

"Since you don't much resemble one of the frat boy losers who've been trying to grind on me all night, absolutely!"

To her eye, he looked a little too clean cut for this kind of place, but she could easily be wrong. And anyway, he wanted to dance, she wanted to dance, things would work out.

"I'm Arilee," she raised her voice to be heard over the pounding music. "You got a handle or should I just call you Cutiepants?"

Dressed in a pair of black slacks and a simple black button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, the first few buttons undone so that the silver of his necklace could be seen beneath the fabric, Magiore was not exactly dressed for clubbing. But doing this was better than sitting at the loft doing nothing; it was something different, something to get him out of his comfort zone.

And who knew, perhaps the night would yield something good in return.

A faint smirk touched his lips, the corners quirking upwards as Magiore looked down at the girl. Up close, she seemed to be a few years younger than he was, slender and curvaceous, eyes alight with mischief as she turned to look at him.

"A pleasure, Arilee," said Magiore, and took a step closer to her, holding out a hand out towards her as an invitation. "I'm Magiore. And I'm not a frat boy loser, so hopefully it'll make you a bit more inclined towards me."

Winking playfully, Arilee took Magiore's proferred hand and gave a tug, closing the distance between them a little more.

"Honey, the fact that your speech doesn't consist of 'Yo, dude!', 'CHUG CHUG CHUG' or 'Wassup' automatically makes me more inclined to like you. That I was correct in my initial assessment only makes me like you even more."

Granted, Arilee was sure that frat boys had their place in the universe. She just wished they'd stay out of the clubs she liked.Magiore might look a little too normal, but he seemed polite, well spoken and not inclined to try taking advantage. All points in his favor.

Besides, he really was damned cute. She'd take her chances.

"So? We gonna dance or what?" she asked, giving his hand another tug.

"Glad to see I've risen above those less fortunate than I," said Magiore dryly, taking several obedient steps towards her so that they were hardly a foot apart now. He smiled, the bright, flashing lights of the club casting colored patches on both of their faces.

"Of course," he said easily, and slipped both of his hands to rest casually on her waist, drawing her nearer and beginning to sway back and forth to the beta of the music.

"This may seem like a line, but tell me about yourself."

"What's to tell," Arilee spoke playfully. "I'm a horrible delinquint who enjoys dancing, surfing and makeouts."

Laughing, Arilee allowed herself to be drawn further out to the dance floor. She always enjoyed it when someone wanted to know about her. She could hardly tell the entire truth, after all.

"Let's see, I'm a rockin' cook, I'm a better than average surfer. I grew up in sunny So-Cal and I kind of miss it, but Destiny City has it's perks to help me through my loss."

She was also a member of the Dark Mirror Court, but she was hardly going to tell this guy about that. Not unless she felt like killing him right after. And really, he was too cute to do that to. So instead, she simply grinned and lobbed his own question back at him.

"What about you?"

He could not help but be amused.

"Sounds interesting enough to entice me," said Magiore, stepping just a little closer and letting his hands hold her just a small bit tighter. It was not a come on so much as it was an attempt at not losing her in the throngs of people gyrating beside them, but it was still pleasant to find someone as open and unhindered as Arilee.

"Me?" he said, and shook his head, dark hair falling about his shoulders in curly black waves. "I'm relatively simple. I enjoy metal welding - odd, I know, but there you have it. I like reading and tea. I don't usually dance, but as you can obviously see, it's nice to take a break and let loose now and again. I can't say I've ever surfed - at least not successfully, but I commend anyone who can."

A smile played at his features. "And I do enjoy a good bit of making out, should I find someone I like."

Metal welding? Huh, he certainly didn't fit the burly manual labor image, but hey! It took all types.

"But what do you weld?" she asked, confusion causing her forehead to wrinkle slightly. The question had slipped out, but she was curious. "Like, the only stuff I've ever seen welding done for has been building construction and like.. car engines."

Arilee found herself returning Magiore's smile and moved in just a touch closer, pressing herself against him.

"Do you now?" she replied. "Well, we'll just have to find someone you like then!"

The oh-so-innocent smile she flashed probably would have been more convincing if not for the decidedly predatory gleam in her sunset colored eyes.

"Mostly jewelry," said Magiore, with a smile. He was half-shouting, to be heard over the music. "It's smaller, called brazing. It's like doing torch work with a mini-torch. Boring sounding, I know, especially when we're in the middle of a club."

But the conversation was pleasant, and so was Arilee, and Magiore liked that she had stepped closer, her eyes dancing with mischief. He slipped his hands around her waist so that they linked together against her back, pulling her gently against his chest, still dancing as a slow, curiously teasing smile found its way across his face.

"Will you, now. Sounds like a challenge to me. How do you know I'm not easy to please?"
