I wouldn't call myself tech-savvy, but I can tell you what I would try.
The type of files that your DVD player will recognize will vary depending on the model. Mine plays damn near anything, while my ex-roommate's was really, really picky.
I'd start by finding out what file types are supported by your device. This should be listed in the instruction manual that came with it, or can be found online.
After that, I'd look for a program to convert your files to the desired format. There are plenty of options, just google "convert divx to ____", and see what's available.
Finally, do you have any software for creating playable DVDs? Windows 7 comes with a DVD maker, and although I'm sure it's not the best that's out there, I've never had any issues with it. I'm certainly no expert, though, so hopefully someone else can offer you some more specific advice. smile

What do we think about turning this thread into an overall tech-support place? There are some who understand tech better than others, and I know I never mind helping.

So it seems I actually have an issue now.
My iPod, which carried all my music and most of my movies, is now an iBrick. >< Time to reformat.

You only need 1 antivirus program. If it's doing it's job, then the virus scans you are running are not going to be of any help. How old is your computer? What is your RAM speed? And then open your task manager, and under Processes, see what is eating everything.
