Sand, heat, the sun. The desert presented a constant and dangerous adventure that Jamadagni couldn't pass up. The adrenaline and excitement of the hunt raced through his veins even now when he was carefully walking the desert at a steady pace. He hadn't felt these way about a pride or one particular land ever. Not even when he'd escorted Mazal to her pride of peace. But then, it was a pride full to the brim of peace and that even then it had sounded ... Well besides Mazal, it held no appeal for him. Still didn't. Mazal still did, in both the same and different ways.

Jama shook himself out of his thoughts that always sat at the foreground of his mind before he would decide to go visiting. It was either that or the excitement of this new place and adventure had him acting and thinking like his younger self. Which could be either a good thing or a very very very bad thing. And it all depended on the rust on his panic button for strategy. Hopefully, he would prove to have matured that particular trait into quick on his feet thinking.

The desert was vast, far more so than he expected when he'd first heard of the Motoujamii-Simo. It would take a long time to memorize all the little corks in the geography of the land. At the moment he couldn't even figure out where he was in relation to the rogue lands he had traveled all his life. Or to Mazal and her pride, and Jama always knew where that pride and lioness lay.

Jama had expected to see more lions as well. But then, they knew the lands like he didn't. How could he be sure there wasn't a pride member out here with him? Jama forced himself to become even more alert than he had been, traveling alone in a new land, just in case.

Aodhfin was easy to spot as he went to the area were the outsiders did their duels to join the pride. he had already spotted the outsider from his perch on a high sand dune and had a smirk upon his face as he waited to be noticed. after all he was a red and white blob in the sand. still as a statue, he waited and now gave a lazy yawn. being a Watcher had made him into the type to sit and observe silently before doing anything. he wanted to find out more before the male more than likely came up to him for a duel and would come across like any other solider that dueled new comers as no one but the regents, spy master and other watchers were to know of his Watcher rank.

The red lion stood out like a fish among the among zebra. It didn't take Jama that long to spot him. Longer than Jama felt necessary, but the desert was vast. Even though it was the truth, it still felt like an excuse. Jama let out a roar. It wan't friendly, but it wasn't hostile either. It was just a greeting. A greeting to allow the other lion to choose his actions before Jama got too close.

Jamadagni didn't think the lion would decline his request for a duel. The pride seemed keen on fighting. Something Jama understood, even if he didn't get to do more of it as often as he'd have liked. Especially when he was caring for others that needed it. Or visiting places where fighting was a faux pas. Thank the gods it wasn't here. But who knew.

Once close enough to speak - and lounge into a fight - Jama stopped. "Greetings. I have been pointed in this direction for a good fight and an active pride."

( c: you can take the first roll now )

Aodhfin got to his feet and gave a roar in response. he stood tall and proud as eyed the outsider. " you have found the right place if your looking for your duel to join the Motoujamii-Simo." tail lashing, he then had a smirk on his face. " i will be your challenger if that wasn't already obvious." it was clear he was a fighter and was use to sparing day in and day out. when he wasn't resting or doing his duties, he was sparing with his mentor Huojin. " are you ready?"

Jama flashed a smile at the other lion. Everything about the way this lion moved and held himself said this duel was going to be a good one. Jama hadn't had a good fight for too long. Granted, rogues tended to either be intimated by him or friendly enough toward fellow rogues, so fights were rare for him.

Jama took up a fighting stance and started circling the other male, biding his time, looking for a weakness. Observing the way he moved, figuring out how concentrated on this fight the lion was. All of it and trying to predict based on his movements how he was going to move. Left? Right? Straight lounge?

This fight and mental strategy was a lot like how Jamadagni went about hunting. Observing before finding the best plan possible. And then having back plans in the back of his mind just in case. That's why Jama loved hunting so much. It was the closest he could get to fighting a worthy opponent everyday, sometimes several times a day. And that's what he did now, observed, biding his time. Waiting for the other's movements as a tell or to act.

( Roll 1 - 1 = miss / failed attack )

Aodhfin watched as the first thing the outsider did in their duel was bid their time. to him it was clean the outsider was going to think before making a move and he was going to have to keep him on his toes. so in a split second Aodhfin took the first move and too a swing at him as he lounged forward but ended up missing. but no matter his tactic was to keep the outsider from being able to think too long about what he was going to do.

The other lion was fast. Faster than any rogue Jamadagni had ever faced. He knew this fight was going to be a good one and it was turning out as he had predicted. His smirk got bigger for a split second. Then he got serious.

After dodging the other lion's lunging swipe, Jama turned and snapped his jaws. He missed, rolling as he was sent past the other lion with the force of their attacks. Jumping back to his feet, Jama watched for the next opening to attack.

( Roll 2 - 1 = miss / failed attack )

Aodhfin just managed to keep from Jama's snapping jaws. as quickly as possible Aodhfin again did a lounging swip as Jama was getting back to his feet but he missed again to his great annoyance. giving a growl, he braced himself for any retaliation Jama had coming toward him. he had wanted to keep Jama moving and open but so far he felt he wasn't doing too good of a job in it. his next move he wanted to show just want he could do. but it all came down to what his opponate did first.

The roll after his snap allowed him to continue past the other lion's attack. He felt the wind move his fur, the swipe was so close and the growl was a tell against the other lion's annoyance.

As soon as Jama was on his paws, he swung a left swipe at the other lion. And missed.

In Jama's mind, your first attack was the one that was filled with the most energy. The second attack was just as important, and from then on out, any fight because about endurance. Which fighter would have the will to keep their energy levels as close to the height of those first attacks? Who would endure? That was the winner. So far the two of them were at the same level as far as Jama could tell. But that could change in an instant, and would. Just would that change be good or bad for him.

(Roll 3 - 2 = bide - omfg idk how i forgot to reply to this)

Aodhfin was pleased with himself when he barely managed to dodge the outsiders attack. breathing a little heavy, he now was going to take this opportunity to bid his time as he circled the outsider with a smirk on his face. " you will have to do better than this to gain a place in this pride." he purposely was trying to bait him into a more heated duel. still smirking he was acting the part of a cocky solider who figured that he had this duel in the bag. which in truth he wasn't foolish enough to underestimate anyone now.

Jama bit back a grin as the other lion tried to goad him into attacking without thought. But that was something Jama didn't do. He may act without thought when dealing with others, but never ever in a fight or a hunt - at least not any more. Jama always thought. Thoughtlessness was equivalent to preyness. And Jama was not prey.

Circling the other lion, even as that lion bided his time. The other was panting, and though Jama himself felt less energetic and adrenaline-filled, his harsh breathing was not how he felt. Jama felt alive as he waited and planned his next attack, watching to see what the other lion was going to do.

( Roll 4 : 3 = a hit / successful attack )

Aodhfin grinned as the other bid his time and started to circle. it was almost like he was about to start laughing with amusement before he suddenly went went leaping at Jama with a paw raised up high so that he could so he could bring it slamming down on Jama to try to stun him a little. it was obvious that even though he was starting to be out of breath that he was not going to slow down just yet and he could only hope that his attack would hit or he was going to be left wide open.

Jama could see the joy of the fight in the other lion's eyes. And he knew that this place, this pride, was perfect for him. Just the simple joy of a good fight shared between two opponents making everything, well also everything, fade away. Somethings, some memories would never fade, and Jama didn't want them to, but now, at that moment it was the fight that was the most important moment.

Aodhfin's paw came down on Jama's shoulder, stunning the nerves in that limb for a few precious seconds, Jamadagni stiffened that limb for the split second he needed to attack back when the other lion least expected it. Jama sent a right jab at Aodhfin.

( Roll 5 / last roll and it is a tie between them c: )

Snarling at the hit, Aodhfin then backed off and bid his time a little before realizing it was about time they ended their duel. " alright, the duel is done." he spoke sharply as he now stood tall and not in a battle position. " i feel that we have tied in this duel and i will look forward to if we ever duel again." it was as close to a complement he was going to give an outsider since he was not one to trust them any longer.

Jama nodded, giving a small bow of his head in respect to his worthy opponent. Jama was very glad to have met this lion in his travels in the Firekin lands; it had been too long since he'd felt this adrenaline and challenge in fighting another lion. And he was even more glad that Aodhfin ceased the dual, otherwise it would have become more than a dual, but a real fight, where Jama would have refused to lose. And that could have gotten nasty.

"Then I am off to do some more exploring and hopefully find more dual opponents. It was a pleasure to test my strength against your own in this dual. I'm sure we'll get a chance to again some time." With that parting, Jama turned and left the other lion to his spot and trotted off to see what else the Firekin and its pride territory had to offer him.
