Nili walked at a slow pace. He wasn't in any particular hurry today. The day before last he had taken no breaks and only focused on collecting herbs from the earth-tenders gardens... Now he regretted it.

Not only was he without any paitents to heal, but he also without anything to do. He had collected as many herbs as he could, had taken care of all paitents that had come to him. He even had made so much medicine his hooves had begun to turn a funny color. Finally, the other two healers had enough of simply watching and had started commenting on how he could do nothing but work.

And so, the klipspringer found himself wandering further and further away from his herd, until they were nothing but mere specks in the distance...

Dylis had her eyes set on her prey. She had been traipsing through the tall grass, trying to scent out anything she could find. So far she had found a small field mouse and had made a quick snack of it but that wasn't going to last forever. Just as she was about to keep moving on, she heard the rustling of the grass near by as something came closer.

The rustling got the attention of the prey she was stalking and caused the bird to fly off. Wondering what had startled the bird, she peeked her head out of the grass to look around.

Nili wasn't sure what to do with himself, that was all. He was never one to socialize, more or less he'd rather keep quiet and speaking only when spoken too. Did that really make him a seem like he prefered to work rather then talk to his collegues?

Finally, he stopped walking, sitting down on the soft ground beneath him. Examining his surroundings, Nili was quick to notice the jackal head poking out of the grass. His ears perked up, but he had no intentions of fleeing.

He was overall larger then most of his kind, so he could probably take a few scratches if it came to such. For now he'd just enjoy his break from his work, and try not to get himself injured to badly.

Her eyes widened slightly when she spotted the blue klipspringer. Had her meal found its way to her instead? She cocked her head to the side when she noticed it watching her. Why was it not running away? It didn't even seem to be panicking!

She stepped out of the grass and attempted a small growl, however it didn't sound very menacing do to her confusion.

When Dylis growled, Nili had mistaken it for something else. Did she have something caught in her throat? Or perhapes worse, her throat was so dry that it was becoming painful to her. The deer felt the need to aknowledge her as a paitent, not something interested in hunting him.

However, he still wasn't sure if she was hurt at all. There was no harm in simply asking, was there?

"Are you alright?" He cleared his own throat before he spoke.

When the small deer didn't panic at her growl, her shoulders slumped. Why was this thing not scared of her? Instead it was asking her is she was alright.

"Yes," Dylis responded and cleared her throat, "I'm fine," she tried to give him a small smile, attempting to show her teeth to see if that would cause him to get scared.

Unfortunatly for Dylis, Nili wasn't scared in the slighest. In fact, he seemed as if he was slowly trying to process the situation. Not in any real hurry to do anything other then speak.

"Are you..." He wasn't sure how his paitent -- that he indenified as female -- would react to his next sentence. She might turn into the big bad wolf for all Nili knew. Despite this he proceeded to state his question anyway.

"Are you perhapes hungry?"

Why wasn't he running from her? Didn't he know that she could pounce on him and make him a quick meal? Instead he was still watching her....and questioning her?

Was she hungry? Why else would she have been hunting in the grass? Granted running through the grass was fun but she had grown out of that, for the most part.

"Yes, yes I am."

Nili wasn't a supporter of carnivors, and he certainelly wasn't about to sell out the location of his own herd to a tiny preditor such as Dylis. "I'm not sure if it will do you all too well, but I happen to know the location of a snake nest."

Snakes weren't allowed in the herd. Viewed as a potential threat they were, as were jackals, and as were maned wolves.

He had only used snake skins in potential remedys, other then that he had no care for the creatures. He had heard a rumor that jackals were willing to feast on snakes, and Nili would much rather have them eaten then himself today.

The small fox was still confused by the actions of the deer. He wasn't panicking, he wasn't scared, and now he was trying to help her. It didn't make any sense to her.

When he offered the suggestion of a snake's nest, she nodded slowly. "Thanks?" she replied, "I'll have to check it out then."

She briefly wondered if she should have just pounced instead of engaging him in conversation.

"It's right over there." He lifted his hoove and pointed in the direction of a small tree. You could tell just by looking at the location that it seemed abnormal, that something was different even from a distance. It was easy to find the snake's nest if you always looked for the flaws in your enviornment like Nili tended to do. Hopefully the jackal wouldn't accidently fall into the hole while looking for it.

Nili would pull her and treat any snake bites of course, but a hungry meat eating animal wasn't exactly someone he'd choose as company or his fellow herd. At least if the snakes she ate would fill her up, Nili would feel slightly less threatened about wether or not he was going to return home alive in the next five mintues.

Dylis looked to where he had pointed his hoof and noticed a something strange at the base of the tree. She couldn't see completely from her height, but she figured that was the snake nest he had mentioned.

"Thank you," she nodded to him; she would probably be able to get over there quickly but she would have to let the deer go. She looked between him and the snake nest before sighing.

She smiled up at the deer once more and gave a small nod before heading off towards the hole; hopefully there would be at least one snake there that she could catch and make a meal out of.

As Dylis began to leave, Nili himself sighed. Although much too quietly to be heard by the ears of his potential hunter who was troting off towards her next meal.

He then turned his attention out towards where his herd was, forcing himself to squint in order to make out a small shadow of one of his comrads... It seemed like they were moving, that wasn't good. Nili was going to be left behind if he kept resting!

He slowly stood up, switching his attention between his herd and the jackal to ensure she didn't get herself caught in the nest somehow. Taking a few steps foward, Nili cast a final glance at the jackal searching for snakes in the grass. He didn't even know her name, which he felt inclined to ask what hers was so that he could brag to his healer buddies about this encounter with her.

Then again, she could always just be the jackal to him and his friends. Nili would always vividly remember what color she was, even if he had forgotten all about the rest of the details. He was sure he would. For that reason, he didn't speak another word to her, and simply left himself, on his way to his herd whom seemed to be getting smaller and smaller in the distance...
